1 n e w s r e l e a s e FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 23, 2011 Advance voting opens tomorrow More opportunities than ever to vote in advance More advance voting locations and an additional day of advance voting make it more convenient than ever for Manitobans to exercise their democratic right. Election day in Manitoba is Tuesday, October 4 but Manitobans may vote in advance beginning tomorrow (September 24) until Saturday, October 1 one day longer than in the previous election. There are approximately 300 advance voting locations throughout the province, including every returning office, as well as other convenient locations such as shopping malls, university campuses and the Winnipeg airport. Eligible voters can vote at any advance voting location and they do not need any special reason. To be eligible to vote they must: be Canadian citizens; be at least 18 years of age on or before election day; have resided in Manitoba for at least six months immediately before election day. Voters are required to show one piece of government-issued photo identification (such as a driver's licence) or two other documents with their name. Having their enumeration record with them will also be helpful. Advance voting places are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every day except Sunday, when they are open from noon until 6:00 p.m. Voters can visit the Elections Manitoba website to find locations near them. A complete list follows below. Parents are invited to bring their children with them when they vote. Each child will receive an Official Future Voter sticker, while voters will receive an I Voted sticker.
