Lead free is becoming a nationwide requirement soon. In response to the California and Vermont leadfree laws enacted in 2010, a new standard (NSF 372) was created mandating no more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent lead on the wetted surfaces of pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and any product (fixture) used in a potable (drinking) water system. The new Federal Law that mandates NSF 372 nationwide, the National Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act (Senate Bill S.3874), will become effective January 4, Acorn Engineering Company already offers several lead free products. Our standard Air Control valves are lead free; we also offer Stainless Steel Hose & Supply boxes that are certified lead free when selecting option ( SSLF). Boxes are designed for attractive service in both interior and exterior walls not subject to freezing. Recessed design prevents accidents which are common to surface-mounted or protruding hose valves. Hose Box is a one piece cast construction and is furnished with two stainless steel angles for anchoring to the wall construction. Door and Frame are of cast Lumaloy. Door includes a recessed cam latch, which is operable with a loose key by others or with the removable wheel handle on the valve. Valve and Stop Body is cast bronze with exposed parts chrome-plated, optionally available in cast stainless steel with a rough finish and meets lead free requirements where the wetted surface of this product contacted by water contains less than 0.25% lead. Valve and Stop feature tamperresistant lockshield bonnet and replaceable cartridge containing all wearing parts including the seat. The body casting is gasketed where it joins the box and is securely anchored with stainless steel tamper-resistant screws. Supply inlet is 3/4 NPT female. Outlet is 3/4 male hose thread. Screwdriver Stop in supply permits servicing the control valve without shutting down the water supply. Vacuum breaker models prevent contamination of the potable water supply. Door is provided with Cam and Cylinder Lock with Key Lock and two keys. Hinges are concealed type. Door can be easily removed after opening by releasing hinge pins with a screwdriver.
