1 Directions from JHB (Total distance km) about an 8 to 9 hour drive with no congestion at the border Border closes at 18h00! 1. Take the N3 highway towards Durban 2. Take the leftsplit N3 to Durban(right split N12 takes you to Kimberley/Bloemfontein) 3. Keep left and take the offrampto Springs on the N17 Toll Road (+-R4.50) 4. Approx. 30km from Johannesburg, you will come to the Springs Plaza (+-R26) 5. Approx. 100km from Johannesburg, you will come to the Leandra Plaza (+-R45) 6. Approx. 155km from JHB, you will come to Bethal (180km from Fourways) 7. Then drive 55km to Ermelo via the Ermelo Plaza (+-R45) ALTERNATIVE ROUTE from JHB to Ermelo: 1. Take the N12 highway to Witbank km from the Gilooleys intersection in JHB, you will hitthe Middleburg Toll Plaza (+-R45) 3. Drive 18km and take the N11 turn-off towards Hendrina/Ermelo 4. Drive 96km to Ermelo 6. In Ermelo, go straight on Church Street (do not follow signs) and turn left into Voortrekker Street at the McDonalds on your right-hand side 7. Drive 93km to Piet Retief 8. Then 101km to Pongola 9. After 52km (just after Pongola Dam on the left), turn LEFT off the N2 to Jozini (be careful not to miss this small sign!) There is a spectacular viewing spot out across the dam at the top of your climb well worth stopping for a leg-stretch but it is easy to miss it on the RHS straight after a cutting! 10. At the end of Jozini town (watch out for speed humps!), take the left hand fork in the road that leads down a short hill and over the dam wall. 11. After 38km (watch out for potholes), turn RIGHT at a T-junction towards Kosi Bay. 12. Drive 43km to a traffic circle and go out at 12 o clock(ie take the second exit!) 13. After 24km, you will find a little town called Mangusi watch out for serious speed humps at all school crossings! At the end of the town on the LHS is a Total garage which is your last petrol station before the border. This is the easiest place to get your third party vehicle insurance for Moz, otherwise you have to get it at the border on the Moz side (in the far wendy houses). 14. Then carry on straight for another 17km to the border post. 15. At the border, show your car and trailer papers to the SA officials at the gate/boom and then drive through to parking area on the Moz side. Take your passports (and unabridged birth certificates with affidavit parent consent form if only one or no parents are there for children 16 years or younger) to the SA Customs Office on the LHS of the boom (coming in) to scan Page 1 of 13

2 inand get stamped very occasionally they request to see the driver, so he/she can usually go separately with the car papers to get the temporary import permits for the vehicles. This office is in a pre-fab building just past the SA Customs buildingon the LHS. 16. Then go across to the Mozambique Customs Office, another wooden structure on the RHS of the boom and show them your passports (there is normally no charge) make sure they stamp your passports on both sides of the border with the correct dates! 17. They border officials may check your car for alcohol check the regulations around how much you are allowed to take into Mozambique, but they generally don t like you taking beer in their 2M is awesome anyway! 18. If you didn t get your third party insurance at the Total garage in Mangusi, go to the far wendy houses on the Mozside of the border to buy 3 rd party insurance. 19. Drop your tyre pressure down to between 1.5 and1.8 bars. Select 4WD high range and enjoy the off-road experience! 20. Then follow the main road to Ponta Malongane straight out through a wide opening in the fence as you leave the border (turning right will take you toponta Do Ouro). You should have a line of gum poles planted next to the road on your left forthe first few hundred meters. You are on the right road if it starts off quite wide, very rocky and slightly red in colour. 21. The airfield will become visible on your left after about 3km. Not much of an airport - keep an eye out for the wind sock. Keep going for approx. 8km do not be perturbed by the roads splitting off into more than one track all roads lead to Ponta Malongane! There is one road that crosses your path at right angles this is the road joining Ponta do Ouro and Maputo do not take this one - just cross straight over it and stay on anorthward path. You will see blue & white triangular signboards labelled Whitepearl along the way to re-assure you that you re on the right path. 22. Choose the best road (most travelled as a rule of thumb) that does not look too soft/sandy and also keep to high ground as much as possible in the rainy season. Keep your speed up in sandy sections especially on uphill gradients. 23. After about 10km from the border you should be driving parallel to a set of overhead power lines on your RHS. These lead to a substation mounted in a white shipping container 3m above ground this is a prominent landmark along the route. 24. Continue on past this for about another 4km when you should come to an inland lake on your LHS. Drive around this lake for about a 1/2km until you arrive at Piccadilly Circus in Ponta Malongane a busy traffic circle on the main road that runs up and down the coast from Ponta Do Auro (to the right) to Ponta Mammoli (to the left).take the third exit (i.e. turn to the right) going south towards Ponta Do Ouro. 25. If you see a big sign Gozo Azul on the right, you have gone north - the wrong way when possible do a U-turn and head south. 26. You are now driving away from Ponta Malongane towards Ponto Do Ouro, and after about 2km you can t miss a huge sign on the LHS labelled 360 Degree Pub and Vista Alta Estate. Turn Page 2 of 13

3 LEFT into the entrance and up a steep hill until you get to the 360 Degree Restaurant& Pub at the top on the RHS. 27. Continue on past this landmark; following the road down the other side of the dune (approx. 1/2km) until you find the reception office for the Vista Alta Estate at the end of the road. 28. Ask for Tracey s Paradise house, fill in a form, pay the key depositand you will be given keys and directions to find it within the Estate. You have arrived!!! 29. Move into the house, get a 2M Beer or an R&R, relax and enjoy your stay in Paradise!!! NOTE: When you return through the border into SA, you may be searched for fresh fruit and vegetables as well as excessive amounts of 2M beer. These are restricted and will be confiscated if found. For an easy safe transition into and around Mozambique you need make sure you comply with the following: 1. Valid Passports for all parties Please check that all passports have in fact been stamped on entering Mozambique. 2. Children <16 years of age need their Unabridged birth certificates and if only one or none of their parents are with them, then you need to download the parental consent form from the SA Home Affairs web site and get an affidavit as well as a signed letter from both parents/guardians. 3. SA citizens do not need a Visa - if not a South African please check Visa requirements 4. Mozambique Triangle Stickers one front right of the vehicles and one back right of trailers 5. ZA sticker for the back of all vehicles 6. 2 Reflective triangles 7. Reflective vest needs to be accessible in the car 8. Registration papers for the vehicles and trailers 9. Letter from your Insurance company confirming that you are covered in Mozambique 10. Vehicles must have valid license disks and the info on the disc must correspond with the registration papers 11. Third Party insurance (Hollard) for Mozambique needs to be taken out for vehicles & trailers can be taken out at: At Outdoor Warehouse in SA Total Garage 20km from border At the actual border There is a small office at the border. You will need the Registration papers and passport to take out the insurance at a cost of about R210 per car and R110 per trailer and is valid for 30 days Page 3 of 13

4 Please note:a 4x4 vehicle will be required to get from the border to the estate. If you do not have a 4x4, you can make prior arrangements with us for a transfer service to/from the estate at a cost of approx. R300 per trip.your vehicle can be left at the border on the SA side in an enclosed and partly covered, safe & secure parking area. This cost is approx. R30 a day but has to be undertaken at the owner s risk. Items to take: 1. Food & condiments 2. Charcoal & Firelighters 3. Toilet paper 4. Other toiletries 5. Swimming/Beach Towels & Costumes 6. Mosquito sprays 15. Torch & Lighter Other things worth taking but not essential: 1. Snorkeling or diving kit 2. Jet skis, quad bikes, boats, beach toys, etc. 3. Beach umbrella/gazebo 4. Binoculars 5. 5 Terms & Conditions On confirming a booking, the terms & conditions herein contained are deemed to have been read and accepted. The client in whose name the booking is made undertakes liability for all costs incurred by his/her guests or invitees. 1. Reservations/Bookings: Should the unit be available for the requested period, a Reservation Booking Form will be ed to the client, which needs to be completed and returned together with proof of payment of at leastthe deposit, which is 50% of the total booking amount. On receipt of the above, an Invoice will be issued and the booking confirmed. The final balance (maximum of 50%) needs to be paid by no later than 30 days of the arrival date. Should full payment not be received before the final due date, the booking will have to be cancelled and the deposit unfortunately forfeited. (See Section 3 below) Keys to the unit can be collected at the Vista Alta Estate Reception Office after 2pm. A refundable key & breakage deposit of R500 will be requested.the keys should be dropped off again on date of departure between 8am and 10am. The key & breakage deposit will be refunded to your account within a week of departure by which time the house and contents will have been fully checked. The unit has two queen-size beds, a double bed and pull-out single under-bed and three single beds and therefore, only a maximum number of nine (9) adults and one (1) child (comprising of 3 couples, 3 singles and 1 child (>5years)) may reside there. Under no circumstances may any more guests than have been booked for be invited to stay. 2. Payment: To secure your booking, a minimum paymentof 50% of the full amount (the deposit) has to be made by EFT within 5 days of us sending your booking invoice. The final 50% payment (or balance as applicable) must be made by EFT no later than 30 days prior to arrival or the booking will have to be cancelled and your deposit forfeited (see para 3 below). 3. Cancellations: Reservations cancelled 60days or more from date of arrival will suffer loss of deposit. If full payment has already been made at time of cancellation, only the 50% non-deposit portion will be refunded. Should the full booking be taken up by other clients earlier than 30 days of arrival, a full refund may be considered, but only at the discretion of the Owners. Reservations cancelled between 60 and 30 days of arrival will only be refunded if the booking is fully filled by other clients, but only the 50% deposit will be refunded. Reservations cancelled within 30 days of arrival, will be held liable for the full amount of the booking. All cancellations incurred as a result of exceptional circumstances such as natural disaster, civil uprising, or family emergency such as a death in the family, will be subject to the fair and just discretion of the Owners. Any reductionsin the number of people booked or the booking dates may be considered as cancellations and will be subject to the fair and just discretion of the owners. Page 5 of 13

6 4. Rules of Conduct: You are entitled to enjoy the unit and it s amenities in a manner that does not wrongly interfere with any other resident or guest in the Vista Alta Estate. You may not destroy, harm or disturb any of the facilities at Vista Alta Estate. No fire shall be lit anywhere in the unit or at the common areas except in the proper constructed fireplace provided. You may not litter or discard any item at any place in the estate, except in such receptacles and in such places as may be set aside for that purpose as designated by the Manager of Vista Alta Limitada. No person shall use the common area in a manner which may unreasonably interfere with the use and enjoyment thereof of other residents or guests in the estate. No smoking is permitted inside the unit. No unreasonably loud music shall be allowed, unless special permission is obtained from Management, which shall be restricted to a time at the discretion of latter, or played in a manner which can upset other residents or guests in the estate. You may not drive any vehicle on any road within the Estate at a speed in excess of fifteen (15) kilometers per hour. Pedestrians shall always have right of way within the estate. No camping is permitted anywhere in and around the estate. You may only park in the area inside the Estate allocated to the booked unit or in the visitors area as agreed by the Manager. Please take the hammock s down when not in use, otherwise they may cause damage when left unattended in the wind!!! 5. Liability/Disclaimer: Vista Alta Limitada and/or the Owners of the unit, Tracey Murphy & Tom Luke, are not liable to you, the client, your guests or invitees for any loss, damage, injury or fatality suffered by you or your guests/invitees on or about the premises of the Vista Alta Estate howsoever arising including but not limited to theft, whether resulting from any act or omission whether negligent or not on the part of Vista Alta Limitada and/or the owners of the unit. You, your clients, guests or invitees irrevocably waive all such claims and further indemnify and hold harmless Vista Alta Limitada and/or the owners of the unit, against any claim made against the above by you or your guests or invitees, including all dependants of yours, your guests or invitees or any of them. Any damage to the property and/or its contents and any missing items will be charged to you at repair/replacement value (and include any transport costs from Johannesburg plus Mozambique import taxes should these be applicable). There is an inventory in the unit and any damages or missing items should be reported to reception during your stay, otherwise you could be held liable for these. Please note that we may not be held liable for any power outages, water shortages or building noises. These are out of our control. Rights of admission to Vista Alta Estate are reserved.
