1 MEMO TO STATE PUBLICATION PROGRAM LIBRARIES June 2, 2005 All expenses paid! Digital Archive Training! - We are planning a late July meeting and training session here in Santa Fe for any libraries interested in using or learning more about the OCLC Digital Archive tool that we currently use to digitally archive state and federal documents. We will have some brainstorming sessions on what types of online publications would be appropriate to archive for each of your collections. We will also train you to use the tool, so that, if you are interested in pursuing putting together a digital collection, you can then go back to your libraries to use the tool to collect any online publications that you feel are pertinent to your community and collections. We have monies to pay for travel and accommodations for up to two people from your libraries for the training. Call or Marci for more information or to register. Exact date will be determined when interested parties are identified-- in an effort to choose a date most convenient for all or msmith@stlib.state.nm.us The Winter 2005 issue of Water Wise Community Brief (X :W 32) was printed incorrectly; the correct information should be Volume II, Issue 3. In this shipment be sure to look at: Catalog of Local Assistance Programs 2005 from the Local Development Division of Finance and Administration- is a listing of grant programs administered by various NM state agencies. It is intended to assist local governments and communities in finding and applying for grant monies and provides a guide to working with state funding programs to meet local needs. Also online at Native New Mexico from the Indian Tourism Program- is the 2005 guide to New Mexico s twenty-two Tribes and to Native American attractions. It is a quick, colorful guide to what is going on recreationally on Native American lands in New Mexico. Trails and Treasures- Extreme and Adventurous Recreation in Rural New Mexico from Rural Economic Development Through Tourism gives great ideas for summer (or anytime) weekend or day trip excursions.

A New Mexico Task Force Report - This task force report covers the concerns that New Mexicans have regarding preserving our communities and natural resources. It also provides a survey of other states efforts in doing similar programs and proposes some financial plans, grants and other incentives for accomplishing the aim of keeping New Mexico a livable state.
