2 Welcome to Gulf Breeze, Florida, a family-centered, waterfront community poised on the Fairpoint Peninsula of Santa Rosa County. Gulf Breeze is a veritable paradise with a relaxed lifestyle - a great place to visit, live, work and play. Gulf Breeze sits strategically between Pensacola to its northwest and Pensacola Beach to the south. It is bisected by Highway 98 for those journeying to destinations from Mississippi to south Florida. It is at the headwaters of Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound. Visitors can reach the City of Pensacola by the Pensacola Bay Bridge or cross over to the Gulf of Mexico by the Bob Sikes Bridge onto Pensacola Beach. Continuing along the peninsula into mainland Santa Rosa County, you reach Navarre and Santa Rosa County s only Gulf front beach, Navarre Beach.

Tales of Native tribes, Spanish explorers, French and British naval excursions and Civil War troops are all part of the narration. But it wasn t until the 1930s, with the establishment of a post office and store, that Gulf Breeze began its own page in this dialogue. In 2011, the City of Gulf Breeze celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Gulf Breeze consists of the incorporated city with its own city services, mayor and city council, and the unincorporated portion which is governed by the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners.

Together, they are home to approximately 28,000 residents. Gulf Breeze has some of the best public schools in the state, as well as its own campus of Pensacola State College. Ninety-percent of the business community is small business entrepreneurs who enjoy working close to home. Tourism, education, military, medical, banking, technology and retail are the main components of the local economy. Gulf Breeze has a wide variety of residential subdivisions, ranging from apartments/condos and patio homes on up to large luxury, executive waterfront properties.

Gulf Breeze restaurants provide a diversity of culinary tastes and atmospheres from basic American cuisine to one of the many ethnic cooking styles.

Two local tourist destinations are the Gulf Breeze Zoo and the Gulf Islands National Seashore Naval Live Oaks Reserve. The Gulf Breeze Recreation Center has an indoor recreational facility and many outdoor resources, including ball fields, tennis, disc golf and a dog park. Tiger Point Recreational Park has tennis courts, baseball fields, outdoor basketball courts and a walking path. There are several boat ramps, as well as paddleboard, boat, surfboard, dive and bait/tackle shops. The golfer will enjoy Tiger Point Golf Club. The City of Gulf Breeze has a library. Breeze Cinema 8 is available for moviegoers. In Pensacola, enjoy museums and art galleries, as well as the opera, the symphony, ballet and various theatres. Also visit Pensacola s own Blue Wahoo Double A Southern League team.
