1 T Time The Suncoast T Club Newsletter A Chapter of the Model T Ford Club International & The Model T Ford Club of America The Suncoast T Club was founded in Pinellas County August 16th, 2008, and is organized for fellowship, fun and the preservation of Model T Fords. However, it is not necessary to own a Model T to become a member of this club. Annual dues are $10.00 and run from January 1 December 31. TO BE A MEMBER OF THE SUNCOAST T CLUB YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE MODEL T FORD CLUB INTERNATIONAL. DUES FOR THE NATIONAL CLUB ARE $35.00 A YEAR. President.... Vice President. Secretary. Treasurer. Scott Conger Ben Umberger Althea Conger Althea Conger Althea Conger August 2011 President s message: MTFCI Annual Summer Tour I can report to you that the MTFCI hosted a great tour through the countryside around Rochester, MN. There were plenty of things to do and see, plus the opportunity to meet some truly warm individuals during the tour. Althea and I took the opportunity to stop occasionally to meet and speak with locals along the route including townfolk, farmers and in one instance a small Amish farm. Everyone was curious about the T, what we were doing, how far did you come? and many of the standard

there, while at the same time, enjoying our cars.

2 questions that I know you ve been asked in the past as well. What a wonderful opportunity to see this part of our beautiful country and meet the folks that live there, while at the same time, enjoying our cars. 5 OOPS! Gotta check this out! Both the dog and the truck!! The Farms we saw were neat and tidy, and the folks were VERY friendly

6 Here s an Amish Farm that we stopped at. We visited with Uncle Ezekiel and his very inquisitive nephews Sorry, no pictures of the Amish allowed! Before we left, we purchased some beautiful handcrafts I think we were as curious about them as they were about our car and our trip. After we left, they resumed they re enthusiastic waving to all of the passing T s

7 There was a long line at Ernie s Garage for gas probably because he didn t actually have any Ernie s garage is in Whalen, MN, which is about 5 blocks long by 5 blocks wide with only one road in, and the same one out. Ernie s place wasn t on the official route and we got lost looking for it and had to ask for directions! A bloodhound I am not. It looks like more visiting than repairing goes on at Ernie s these days.

11 Now, an important follow-up to the tour report As many of you have heard, there was a serious accident during the tour involving Ken and Margaret Meek of Townsend Auto. They were involved in a one car accident in their 1915 touring, resulting in very serious injuries to Ken and serious injuries to Margaret. I must regretfully report that Ken has died of his injuries. Never the less, this should be a sobering reminder that these cars are approaching 100 years old or more, and bad things can happen. Please, Please maintain your car in top shape, check it often, and above all, please drive with caution at a prudent speed. Good luck, good touring, and God Bless. Obviously American Pickers on TV have nothing on Scott. Milt is back from tour, too, and is working on his Montana 500 car. Bill, Nereyda and the kids are back from the tour, having worn out a tire on the T, and finishing the tour in the A. Nick bought a bunch of cool T parts while we were out of town.
