Q6 Your feedback on two conceptual options will help guide improvements to the Raynor Park. Concept 1 keeps the park layout the same while Concept 2 outlines some potential changes to the park layout.concept 1 What features do you like best about Concept 1? Answered: 28 Skipped: 9 # Date 1 accept updating the equipment and moving the playground from perpendicular to Raynor St to parallel what is the difference. 3/29/ :57 PM 2 It's a intimate. A secret garden. 3/29/2017 4:35 PM 3 New natural play area! 3/28/2017 1:17 PM 4 New lighting 3/27/2017 1:35 PM 5 Natural play 3/26/ :18 PM 6 Better lighting. 3/25/2017 9:04 PM 7 new lighting and natural play area, bigger play area? 3/25/2017 8:06 AM 8 3 3/24/2017 2:48 PM 9 1, 4, 6 3/24/2017 2:45 PM /24/2017 2:43 PM 11 too small 3/24/2017 2:41 PM 12 I like that it keeps the trees and parking 3/24/2017 2:39 PM 13 Its cheap. Expand play area 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 14 The quiet space in the back 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 15 Keep the poplars, less pavement, less cost outlay in relocation of path, lighting etc. 3/23/2017 5:53 PM 16 I like that it appears to preserve the large willow tree that is currently there. 3/22/2017 9:28 AM 17 park lighting 3/21/ :03 AM 18 I like the leaving of the old pear tree and other trees. The natural play is a GREAT idea as is the bench close to the play area. 3/20/2017 2:45 PM 19 Swings 3/20/ :38 AM 20 bench 3/20/2017 6:44 AM 21 Nothing 3/20/2017 6:35 AM 22 None 3/19/2017 3:23 PM 23 I like refreshed entrance area. 3/19/2017 3:13 PM 24 Simple 3/19/2017 2:45 PM 25 The pathway and the trees along Hudson street to the end of the park. 3/18/2017 6:45 PM 26 Much prefer concept 2 3/17/2017 7:39 PM 27 Nothing 3/16/ :51 PM 28 3 with sand for children to dig 3/16/2017 9:35 PM 6 / 19

Q7 What features do you like least about Concept 1? Answered: 28 Skipped: 9 # Date 1 Its the same park 3/29/ :57 PM 2 Poor use of space, even for fairies. 3/29/2017 4:35 PM 3 Doesn't feel like enough of an upgrade - lighting and natural play area added, but otherwise not so special. Walkway cuts through open space area, would be nice if it was moved to encourage more ball play etc. 4 Needs Songees, First Great Nation recognition. Parks in Vic West fail to recognize the historical significance of this area to our people. We were first forced and granted this peninsula by HBC, before pushed to unusable out of the way land. Children at a young age should be taught our role in this land. Great Parks in the world use those spaces to recognize great people. 3/28/2017 1:17 PM 3/27/2017 1:35 PM 5 No garden 3/26/ :18 PM 6 Not very different from current playground. 3/26/ :59 AM 7 The current pathway is not wide or conducive to use other than slow pedestrian movement. 3/25/2017 9:04 PM 8 not enough picnic benches and could add more features 3/25/2017 8:06 AM 9 4, its very close to the pear tree that gets wasps and hornets part of the year. 3/24/2017 2:48 PM 10 woodchips 3/24/2017 2:45 PM 11 the picnic table is right near the wasp nest in the summer. not a good location. if you could eliminate the wasps, that would be great! 3/24/2017 2:39 PM 12 the path still dissects the park. the expanded paly area 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 13 The path wet and firethorn bush when existing the park 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 14 It is unnecessary. All the park needs is to get rid of the ugly plastic play feature. 3/23/2017 5:53 PM 15 The changes from the current playground seem minimal, so I'm not sure that it's worth spending all the time and money, and having a long period where children can't use the park, for an end product that is not significantly different. 16 Needs a rad flying fox kinda thing, maybe one of those merry go rounds. I dunno. Just seems boring and crappy. Not into the new trees. 3/22/2017 9:28 AM 3/21/2017 3:06 PM 17 it is basically the same with updated equipment 3/21/ :03 AM 18 Number 5 - the bench there. Never, in my ten years in this neighbourhood, have I seen anyone but sketchy people sitting over there. No one sits there to chat - it gets boggy in the winter and spring. There's absolutely no need for park lighting. The park is small enough that you can see the walk well enough at night. 3/20/2017 2:45 PM 19 Not enough playground amenities 3/20/ :38 AM 20 pathway too dark 3/20/2017 6:44 AM 21 Leaving Existing Walkway it is terrible! 3/20/2017 6:35 AM 22 Narrow and restrictive area / potential for large grass area is split by pathway 3/19/2017 3:23 PM 23 I dislike the lack of a full redesign. The path needs work. 3/19/2017 3:13 PM 24 Not very imaginative 3/19/2017 2:45 PM 25 The number of play structures is limited - I don't think this is much of an upgrade. 3/18/2017 6:45 PM 26 Too similar to current layout 3/17/2017 7:39 PM 27 Too shaded 3/16/ :51 PM 28 Doesn't have a children garden 3/16/2017 9:35 PM 7 / 19

Q8 Concept 2What features do you like best about Concept 2? Answered: 33 Skipped: 4 # Date 1 It's exciting!!! 3/29/ :57 PM 2 Better use of space more choice for children. 3/29/2017 4:35 PM 3 Themed play area (west coast animals or explorers?!). Natural play area (YES!). Let them explore their wild side and natural creativity. What happens in the children's garden? Like the idea but more detail would be great. Like pathway at rear of park. Grass area is nice for relaxing in the sun. 3/28/2017 1:17 PM 4 New pathway 3/27/2017 1:35 PM 5 Garden 3/26/ :18 PM 6 More play area, green space accessible 3/26/ :59 AM 7 Overall, this is a much better design, and I would really enjoy taking my child to this version of the park. The width and location of the new pathway also makes it possible to use as a connector for cycling, making it safer for me to get home. The play areas look better for children. 8 bigger natural play area, themed garden. Better use of space, kids can stay on same side of path, more picnic benches. 3/25/2017 9:04 PM 3/25/2017 8:06 AM 9 Play area 7, drainage, less dark, kicking ball around ect. 3/24/2017 2:50 PM /24/2017 2:48 PM 11 3, 6 3/24/2017 2:45 PM 12 3 and 4 3/24/2017 2:43 PM 13 more space 3/24/2017 2:41 PM 14 The children's garden + location + layout of the children's garden + nature play area 3/24/2017 2:39 PM 15 The sidewalk is moved to one side - it doesn't divide the space so much the more open grassy area 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 16 Extra play area and children garden 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 17 Nothing. 3/23/2017 5:53 PM 18 Larger natural playground, more open space. 3/22/2017 9:28 AM 19 I guess it keeps more original trees. 3/21/2017 3:06 PM 20 We love this concept with the garden and natural play area along with play equipment. 3/21/ :07 AM 21 much better use of space, opens up the back end of the park, creates a larger green space, larger park area 3/21/ :03 AM 22 The garden is fantastic and if that could be worked into concept one, that'd be amazing. 3/20/2017 2:45 PM 23 Swinging disc!! Large natural play area 3/20/ :38 AM 24 pathway - I have difficulty walking on existing path 3/20/2017 6:44 AM 25 New Walkway, Open Space, Children's Garden 3/20/2017 6:35 AM 26 Open area, children's garden 3/19/2017 3:33 PM 27 More open and wider / keeps open grass area / more people could use area at same time 3/19/2017 3:23 PM 28 I like the redesign of the park. It seems like a much better use of space, including the new pathway! 3/19/2017 3:13 PM 29 Way better improvements 3/19/2017 2:45 PM 30 The playground seems to have a range of play structures and makes better use of the overall space. 3/18/2017 6:45 PM 31 Better of the two concepts, like the relocation of the features, particularly the path and play areas. 3/17/2017 7:39 PM 8 / 19

32 New path and walkway 3/16/ :51 PM 33 Children's garden 3/16/2017 9:35 PM 9 / 19

Q9 What features do you like least about Concept 2? Answered: 25 Skipped: 12 # Date 1 Wood chips!! They are dangerous. The playground in Banfield uses small pebbles, doesn't it. 3/29/ :57 PM 2 No Asphalt!!! Toxic to children and fairies. Permeable path. Better for the universe and all her creatures. Needs more shrubs and plants for children, birds and bees to hide. 3 No First Nations recognition. See comments about least favourite comment above. You should acknowledge our importance to the land. 3/29/2017 4:35 PM 3/27/2017 1:35 PM 4 I like this design all around. 3/25/2017 9:04 PM 5 Is there only one swing? I would like more details about the themed play equip[ment for each concept. 3/25/2017 8:06 AM 6 nice open spiney plant along Hudson exit gone 3/24/2017 2:50 PM 7 removing the trees, my daughter loves playing hide and seek in the trees 3/24/2017 2:48 PM 8 themed play equipment 3/24/2017 2:45 PM 9 the trees. leave the trees. 3/24/2017 2:39 PM 10 themed play ideas are bad. isn't it too cluttered in the back where you're relocating the bush? 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 11 Loss of the poplars, addition of pavement. 3/23/2017 5:53 PM 12 Removal of the willow tree. The line of poplars may be nearing the end of their lives anyway, but the willow is a significant feature of the park. Some of the workers at the community centre were suggesting that it would be preferable to leave the willow and remove the large pear tree, as it poses a significant risk to children playing in the park (both from falling pears and because the ground gets very slippery). They mentioned that the tree is so large it's no longer really possible to harvest the pears, so most of them go to waste and create a hazard. 13 I guess it's better than #1. Still needs a rad flying fox kinda thing, maybe one of those merry go round spinners. Childrens' garden is funny cause when I was a kid that's probably the last thing I would have wanted. 3/22/2017 9:28 AM 3/21/2017 3:06 PM 14 asphalt instead of concrete 3/21/ :03 AM 15 I don't think it makes a lot of sense to just shift everything to be a) closer to the pear tree, or b) closer to those grumpy dogs who live on that side. I dislike the removal of the trees - the shade is very welcome in the summer. Also, the grassy area is just a complete bog for much of the year, so that's really not useful at all. 3/20/2017 2:45 PM 16 Singular slide (add playarea to it) 3/20/ :38 AM 17 needs more benches I like resting in park watching children play 3/20/2017 6:44 AM 18 Theme Natural Play area maybe potential moss covered 3/20/2017 6:35 AM 19 Hope the open grass area does not become another (illegal) off-leash dog play area. If kids are going to ply then they should not have to worry about dogs or dog waste. 3/19/2017 3:23 PM 20 I'd like to see more picnic tables 3/19/2017 3:13 PM 21 Some might fuss about cost (but it is worth it) 3/19/2017 2:45 PM 22 the play structures are closer to a number of houses with "sketchy" dogs that bark too much when kids are in the park. The properties along Craigflower that back on to the park aren't well taken care of and with design 2 the play spaces will be closer to those properties - can plants and shrubs be planted to block the visual connection with these properties and the park? 3/18/2017 6:45 PM 23 I worry that the open grass area won't have enough drainage as that area of the park can get very wet/over saturated. 3/17/2017 7:39 PM 24 wood play area - boring for children 3/16/ :51 PM 25 Loss of trees 3/16/2017 9:35 PM 10 / 19

Q10 Would you support the removal of the poplar trees to provide an improved playground and an open grass area as shown in Concept 2? Answered: 36 Skipped: 1 Yes No Yes No 77.78% % 8 Total / 19

Q11 Would you support the relocation of the path as shown in Concept 2? Answered: 35 Skipped: 2 Yes No Yes No 88.57% % 4 Total / 19

Q12 Do you have any other comments about either of the design options for Raynor Park? Answered: 20 Skipped: 17 # Date 1 Why would a park only be for 2-5, because Banfield is close? Children of all ages play in Banfield. Why would you not want all parks to be for everyone. Why exclude children older than 5? 3/29/ :57 PM 2 Remove of trees lined up like soldiers it's no different than a giant fence. Forest should have layers of mix and match. 3/29/2017 4:35 PM 3 Why did you not even give cultural as an option for children to play. 3/27/2017 1:35 PM 4 Love the garden 3/26/ :18 PM 5 I encourage pathway design that permits bikes to go through the park, but does so at a slow pace to make it safe for other park users. 6 I do love the big pear and apple trees, but they are so high and the falling fruit is a danger as is the wasps that are attracted to the rotting fruit (that lasts for weeks.months!). I would use the park more with improvements. 7 I would like a fence before the road as it helps when you're looking after multiple children. Makes them safer and parents more relaxed. 3/25/2017 9:04 PM 3/25/2017 8:06 AM 3/24/2017 2:48 PM 8 please trim pear tree as it attracts wasps in the summer 3/24/2017 2:43 PM 9 if you could get rid of the wasps, the location of the picnic table might be okay. 3/24/2017 2:39 PM 10 try to put in butterfly / water friendly trees and plants 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 11 They are both unecessary. 3/23/2017 5:53 PM 12 In concept 2, I like the larger natural playground, but I am concerned about its placement. There is a house right there with two quite aggressive dogs who make quite a fuss whenever anyone goes near that side of the park, so this could be an issue with children playing there. As far as a playground aimed at younger children (2-5) I think that would mostly be okay, but would like to see some flexible elements included that offer some activities for older children. (For example, the natural play area, non-infant swings, and some kind of monkey bars.) For the multi-child swings and merry-go-round options, I think there are rarely enough children at the playground at once to make these worthwhile in this particular park. 3/22/2017 9:28 AM 13 Why give two options and have them both be bad? 3/21/2017 3:06 PM 14 go for #2! 3/21/ :03 AM 15 I think a garden is a fabulous idea and if it could be included in the first design, that'd be wonderful. 3/20/2017 2:45 PM 16 It hard to get to bench. bench irritates back 3/20/2017 6:44 AM 17 Providing More Light Allows easier and safer route in Winter 3/20/2017 6:35 AM 18 Two! 3/19/2017 2:45 PM 19 Concept two is by far the better option. 3/17/2017 7:39 PM 20 plant some edible shrubs or low growing fruit trees for easy picking, but not nut trees (only good for squirrels) and none small, except hazels, but no chance of beating the squirrels. 3/16/ :51 PM 13 / 19

Q13 Please provide any other ideas or improvements you would like considered to upgrade Raynor Park. Answered: 21 Skipped: 16 # Date 1 Area for all to play. Why do all the questions ask if I go there with my child? My children are in daycare. They go without me almost daily. They may even go with me ex? Why not ask how often my children go not me? 2 I think #2, but with more trees and shrubs in a natural look. Like native plant corner. I think some fairy doors would also be a nice touch for the children's imagination. 3/29/ :57 PM 3/29/2017 4:35 PM 3 Songees people are still here. 3/27/2017 1:35 PM 4 Could you add a mommy / baby swing where you swing facing each other? 3/26/ :18 PM 5 Concept 2 looks like it would have everything I'd like to see in a park. Since it's only 100 m away and I wouldn't have to cross any major thoroughfares to get there, I would be very likely to visit a redesigned Raynor Park and would hopefully be able to do so by my son's second birthday next year. 6 I like increasing the size, it gets used by daycares and they can dominate the space a bit. I would use more if bigger. Also, the garbage bins are left to overflowing and can seem dirty. Looking forward to upgrades!! I like the natural play areas :) 3/25/2017 9:04 PM 3/25/2017 8:06 AM 7 tunnels? 3/24/2017 2:48 PM 8 lots of tables and benches 3/24/2017 2:45 PM 9 a fenced in playground would be fantastic 3/24/2017 2:43 PM 10 wasps! my kids really like climbing on the wood rails + tunnel - please don't make the play structure so safe that there is no opportunity for developing risk-taking assessment skills. 3/24/2017 2:39 PM 11 if you remove the walkway, do something to stop people from cutting across the grass from the street. 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 12 Edible plants to #2 3/24/2017 2:31 PM 13 Remove the ugly plastic play features. Remove the dog dirt bags. Remove the sodium lighting. If lighting is considered necessary use incandescent, as discharge and LED lighting is ugly. Remove the 'Paws in Parks'. Replace with 'No Dogs Allowed". 14 The current surface of wood chips works well, and I would like to see something similar in the new playground (i.e. not sand or small stones). 15 Idea 3. Sweet park with tall metal slide, spinny tireswing, spinning merry go round, "flying fox" zipline on track. Maybe some rails and stuff that teens can grind with their skateboards - not a skateboard park, just something to keep them welcome. Maybe some nice discrete drinking spots for adults who stop by after hours for some hangouts and makeouts. 16 The bench in the back is really quite pointless. No one uses it, not even children, it gets boggy over there the only time anyone wants a bench, it really only serves as a smoking area for creepy men. 3/23/2017 5:53 PM 3/22/2017 9:28 AM 3/21/2017 3:06 PM 3/20/2017 2:45 PM 17 more benches walkway to back bench 3/20/2017 6:44 AM 18 Removing Morning Glory. Cut through path bad 3/20/2017 6:35 AM 19 Current park gets very little grounds keeping (leaves, fruit droppings, etc), would like to see this frequency increased. 3/19/2017 3:33 PM 20 Don't cut down existing trees. The Poplar provide shade in the summer and the wind in them sounds lovely. 3/18/2017 6:45 PM 21 Fix the drainage. It's too wet 3/16/ :51 PM 14 / 19
