Not sure why this particular date, it may because it was the 5th Anniversary of troops being withdrawn and 10,000 people being evacuated CI042D 75 7th May 1935 Silver Jubilee of King George V, illustrated cover featuring a photograph of the King, typed and cancelled with a Sandiacre, Nottingham CDS postmark. Sent to Lehighton Pennsylvania FC044K per month over 7 months

2 7th May 1935 Silver Jubilee of King George V, block of four ½d stamps on illustrated cover, Belfast CDS, sent to Toronto Canada. We have seen the illustration before but the question is do the other values exist FC044L per month over 5 months 13th May 1937 Coronation of King George VI, plain handwritten cover, with Up Special TPO EH Section CDS. Sent Airmail to Hamburg Germany which is why the extra postage was needed, but why it started by being postmarked on a Scottish train is another question. FC069G 50

3 13th May 1937 Coronation of King George VI, block of 4 stamps on Stamp Collecting Ltd registered illustrated cover, cancelled with Oval registered 'Kings Cross' postmark, so a nice connection though we think he was looking serious rather than cross FC069H per month over 2 months 6th May 1940 Centenary of the Penny Black issue. Plain registered cover with Royal Exchange Manchester CDS, produced by Manchester stamp dealer J E Lea, sent to a stamp shop in Washington DC. As the issue has a King and Queen on it does this make a Royal Exchange? FC083G 75

4 11th June 1946 Victory, unusual Illustrated cover with Hendon London NW4 slogan postmark. Neat typed address to Indianola, Iowa. Though Hendon is better now known for the RAF Museum, the airfield was used during the Battle of Britain. FC092C 150 over 3 months 29th July 1948 Olympics, plain registered cover cancelled with a clear Perth CDS postmark sent to Beira (now the second largest city in Mozambique), Portuguese East Africa. Well below what we normally offer as part of the Portfolio, but this is one of those covers that just 'works' and how many covers do you have from PEA in your collection FC116A 40

5 10th October th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union Tangier Overprint. Registered illustrated cover with clear British post office Tangier CDS postmark, sent to Brooklyn New York FC rd June 1953 Coronation, nine single stamp covers produced by American Clyde Sarzin. Offering Coronation greetings from nine points around the UK marked on the map illustration. If we use the map as a guide they are all there except Canterbury, but an extra / alternative Edinburgh is included as a replacement FC146E 250 over 5 months

6 3rd June 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, Qantas full set cover, cancelled with Long Life the Queen special slogan and carried to Sydney Australia. Though the single stamps turn up regularly these full sets are few and far between FC over 4 months 23rd April 1964 Shakespeare, set of five plain matching Stevens and Brown covers with 'Have you taken out your Licence for Radio and TV' special slogan. Stevens and Brown were a Fine Arts Agent in Grosvenor Square, so we guess they may have done this set as a favour for Colonel Goyerre in Maryland USA FC295B 125

7 1st December 1966 Christmas, Sanquhar Post Office official cover with clear Sanquhar Dumfries CDS postmark. We think this is the first of a series of official covers they produced through to the mid 1970's when they also sponsored a special postmark FC600B 100 over 2 months 1st September 1936 King Edward VIII New Values ½d Green, 1 ½d Brown and 2½d Blue, small Official ship cover cancelled with the Ostende - Dover Paquebot postmark, sent to Belgium FD111K 350 over 7 months

8 1st September 1936 King Edward VIII New Values ½d Green, 1½d Brown and 2½d Blue, Burnham Terrace Glasgow CDS on registered cover where in Copperplate someone has added details of the issue, sent to Toronto Canada with two different receiving marks on the reverse FD115E 45 1st September 1936 King Edward VIII New Values ½d Green, 1½d Brown and 2½d Blue, plain typed registered cover with clear Windsor Berks CDS. Opened along the bottom and addressed to the Ashford Conservative Journal FD over 5 months

9 1st September 1936 King Edward VIII New Values ½d Green, 1½d Brown and 2½d Blue, typed registered cover, Windsor CDS. Untidily opened at the top FD118A 200 over 4 months 10th December 1936 King Edward VIII Abdication, typed registered cover with all four definitives with Registered High Wycombe oval postmark. 10 29th July 1937 Plain handwritten cover with all four King Edward VIII definitives on it, postmarked on their last day of use with a Sevenoaks slogan postmark. Very few of these must have been done and you would have to had really known your stamps to do a cover FD129A 50 Interesting if not unique collection of four King Edward VIII covers marking the second (1938), fourth (1940), fifth (1941) and sixth (1942) anniversaries of his Abdication. The 1938 cover is postmarked on the 10th with a Windsor Ontario CDS on the GB stamps, the 1940 with a King Edward Banff CDS, 1941 arrived late so got a Windsor CDS on the 15th December and the 1942 was postmarked in Harrogate. Arthur Hurlburt, who did the covers also had World War II to work around so three were also opened by an Examiner, on their way back to Canada FD130C per month over 6 months

11 10th December 1938 Second Anniversary of the Abdication of King Edward VIII, illustrated cover with the full set of four GB stamps but cancelled with a Windsor Ontario CDS postmark, very unusual FD131A 150 over 3 months 10th May 1937 King George VI Definitives, ½d green, 1d red and 2½d blue, illustrated typed cover cancelled with Windsor slogan postmark. Sent to Vancouver Canada and has added Via New York cachet added at the bottom FD per month over 2 months

12 30th January d Purple on plain typed registered cover, sent from Blackpool to Newark, Ohio, USA FD rd November d Pale Violet, London W1 slogan on typed cover sent from the London offices of Harmer to their New York one. The cover was opened by customs on its journey and has the usual repair tape down the left hand side. FD178E 200 over 4 months

13 1st April 1941 Jersey 1d Arms on cover with Gepfandet Vom Gerichtsvollzieher label, which we think translates as seized by Bailiffs FD201A 50 Jersey Views, set of six, nearly, matching plain covers, each with a neat cachet address. These are now quite hard to find together with the lower values harder to find than the higher ones. FD214N per month over 2 months

14 3rd May 1951 Single 1 Festival High Value from the set on a plain registered cover with Royal Albert Docks London CDS postmark. As this is on a PLA (Port of London Authority) envelope, it looks like it was done by a collector and then sent to himself, so the question is, did he also do the other values. FD234A 250 over 5 months 8th February 1954 Tangier overprints of the 9d, 10d and 11d Wilding definitives on unaddressed illustrated cover, cancelled with British post office Tangier CDS postmark FD265A per month over 4 months
