3 2017 Player Profiles Michael Russell Pitcher/Outfield/Infield/Catcher Height: 4 11 Weight: Henderson Pride 2014 Henderson Pride Michael is a fifth grader at Handley Elementary School in Saginaw. This is his first year with the organization. In addition to playing for the Golds, he also plays football and basketball. His favorite athlete is Russell Westbrook and one of his favorite meals are Taco Braids. Jace Sullivan Pitcher/Outfield/Infield/Catcher Height: 5 1 Weight: 95 Throws/Bats: R/L 2014 Saginaw Golds 9U 2015 Saginaw Golds 9U Jace is in the fifth grade at Arrowwood Elementary in Saginaw, and he enjoys social studies. He has played for the Golds since he was seven years old. His favorite athlete is Bryce Harper and his favorite meal are Chicken Wings. He also plays football for the STYF Hawks. His favorite movie is Major League. Hayden Prime Infield/Outfield/Pitcher Height: 5 1 Weight: Saginaw Golds 9U Hayden is in the 5 th Grade at Arrowwood Elementary School in Saginaw, where Math is his favorite subject. His favorite athlete is former Lion great Barry Sanders. Hayden s favorite meal is Chinese Food and his favorite movie is A Dogs Purpose. He also plays football for the STYF Hawks.
4 Alex Killian Infield/Pitcher Height: 5 Weight: 90 Graduation Class: 2023 Throws/Bats: R/B 2014 Saginaw Bay RiverDawgs 8U 2015 Saginaw Bay RiverDawgs 9U Alex is in the 6 th Grade at Beaverton Schools where his favorite subject is math. In addition to baseball he plays basketball, runs cross country and plays soccer for WAZA. His favorite meal is BBQ Meatballs and Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles. 21 Jump Street is his favorite movie and his favorite athlete is Carter Johnson. Jared Watchorn Pitcher/Infield Height: 4 11 Weight: 80 Like so many of the other players Jared is a multiple sport athlete. He also plays hockey for the Saginaw Junior Spirit and runs track for his school St. Lorenz in Frankenmuth, where his is a 5 th grader. His favorite subject is math. Being a hockey fan, it s no wonder he said his favorite movie is Miracle on Ice. His other favorites include Patrick Kane for his athlete and steak for his favorite meal. Owen Turner Catcher Height: 5 2 Weight: Saginaw Golds 9U 2015 Saginaw Golds 9U Owen attends Hemmeter School in Saginaw where Science is his favorite subject. His favorite athlete is fellow catcher Buster Posey. His favorite thing to eat is BBQ Chicken Wings. In addition to playing for the Golds, OT plays hockey for the Saginaw Junior Spirit. He said his favorite movie was the Sandlot.
5 Drew Schafer Pitcher/Shortstop Height: 5 4 Weight: 105 Throws/Bats: R/L 2014 Saginaw Golds 9U 2015 Saginaw Golds 9U Drew attends Weiss Elementary where he is a 5 th grader. He enjoys Math. His favorite athletes are Billy Hamilton and Jose Bautista. Grown Ups 2 is his favorite movie and if he had to pick a meal it would be mashed potatoes. Drew also plays basketball and football in Saginaw Township. Joey Miller Pitcher/Outfield/1B Height: 5 Weight: 105 Graduation Class: 2021 Throws/Bats: L/L 2015 Saginaw Golds 9U In addition to playing for the Golds, Joey plays football for the Swan Valley Vikings and plays hockey for the Saginaw Junior Spirit. He attends Shields elementary where his favorite subject is Math. When asked his favorites they were- meal- Steak, movie- The Perfect Pitch, athlete- Jose Bautista. Brady Shavrnoch Pitcher/Outfield/3B Height: 5 1 Weight: Saginaw Bay RiverDawgs 8U 2015 Saginaw Bay RiverDawgs 9U Freeland Elementary is where Brady attends the 5 th Grade, and math is his favorite subject. He is in his third season with the Golds. When he s not playing baseball he also plays basketball and football. His favorite athletes are Steph Curry and Miguel Cabrera. Brady said that his favorite movie is Jurassic World and he enjoys both spaghetti and tacos.
6 Ty Robertson Outfield/Catcher Height: 5 5 Weight: Swan Valley Rage 9U Ty attends Weiss School in Saginaw, where he is a 5 th grader and he enjoys Reading/ELA. Ty also plays for The Tri-City Heat (basketball) and football for the STYF Hawks. His favorite things include his meal, Carne Guisada Tacos, and athlete Kyrie Irving. The Blind Side is also his favorite movie. This is Ty s first year with the Saginaw Golds Organization. Joe Williams Pitcher/Infield Height: 5 3 Weight: 100 Graduation Class: Saginaw Golds 9U 2015 Saginaw Golds 10U Joe s favorite 6 th grade subject at White Pine Middle School is ELA. In addition to playing for the Saginaw Golds since 2014, Joe also participates in basketball and in football (STYF). His favorite meal to have is steak and his favorite athlete is Bryce Harper. Joe said that his favorite movie to watch is, The Purge: Election Year.

8 2017 Manager and Coaches Andy Schafer Manager High School: Saginaw Arthur Hill College: Ferris State University Coach Schafer played baseball and football while at Arthur Hill High School. He has been coaching with the Golds since 2014, and has been coaching at North Saginaw Township Little League during that same time. In addition to being the manager of the 11U team he assists on the 9U team. He also volunteers his time as a football coach for STYF in the fall. He is employed by Spicer Group. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing and camping with his family. John Sullivan Assistant Coach High School: Jackson Lumen Christi College: SVSU Coach Sullivan played baseball in high school and then at SVSU, before playing two years in the minor leagues (Independent- Prairie and Frontier Leagues). He has served as an assistant coach at SVSU, and a Varsity High School Baseball Coach at Carrollton, where he is employed as a teacher. He now coaches both sons in the program (14U and 11U) and has since Coaches Little League, and won a State Championship in the 9-10 Division in 2012 with the All-Stars from NSTLL. Enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with family. Josh Miller Assistant Coach High School: Henry Street High School- Whitby, Ontario, Canada College: SVSU Native Canadian Coach Miller arrived to the Golds in He has coaching experience at Carrollton HS, Buena Vista HS, and currently manages a little league team at NSTLL. Prior to coaching, Miller was a standout catcher at SVSU. In High School Coach Miller played volleyball, basketball and baseball. His baseball team won a provincial baseball championship in A huge hockey fan, Miller enjoys playing in a men s league in Saginaw. In his spare time he likes hanging out with family and friends. Coach Miller works for the Saginaw ISD. Tim Turner Assistant Coach High School: Saginaw Nouvel College: University of Massachusetts Coach Turner played football and baseball at Saginaw Nouvel where his baseball team won a state championship in He went on to UMass where he played hockey. In addition to coaching the Golds and at North Township Little League, he is an assistant hockey coach for Heritage High School and Saginaw Junior Spirit. In his spare time Coach Turner enjoys golfing and gambling. He works for Stryker Orthopedics.
