5 Division News page 4 & 9 also General Photography We had a great General meeting on Tuesday, March 13th. We learned about Macro Photography from Andy Doc Legacy Pischalnikoff, and then we broke up and set up things to shoot. Andy worked his way around the room and provided information and help where needed, and we greatly enjoyed his presentation. We had flowers and all sorts of interesting objects, and people used their point-and-shoot cameras along with people who used their DSLR cameras. The evening was enjoyed by all. I would like to thank those of you who provided tutoring to people who are new at Macro, and especially want to thank all who helped me put all our equipment away and lock up for the night. Much appreciated! Donna Sturla We will be having another competition for General Photography Meeting on April 10th. May 8th is a program. Sam Shaw will teach us how he creates his magic! Should be terrific! Lynne Anzelc Candid Photos by Chuck Pivetti Nature We had a great competition last time, with judge Dave Rosen, whose comments and critiques were most helpful. Our next competition is Monday, April 2nd, and we have an equally good judge coming. Please send me your images by no later than Friday, March 30th at 8:00 p.m. If you missed the last competition, you may submit FOUR images. Otherwise, only two. If you have any questions about sizing, please or call me. Thank you! Donna Sturla, Nature Chair. Memorial Long time member and past president of the Sierra Camera Club, James G. Standley, APSA passed away on December 18th A Celebration of his life was held on March 10th at Eskaton Village in Carmichael. Jim was the president in 1949 and received the club Service Award in Jim and Emily-ann Standley 5

Mark Twain Travel Our first Travel Competition of the year took place on Monday, March 5th. Mike Schumacher from Placer Camera Club was our judge and really did a great job. Congratulations to Lynne Anzelc for her Single Image of the Night Yosemite Valley Winter Floor and to Willis Price for the wild and crazy Sequence of the Night, Zombie Walk. Mike was able to give us some great constructive feedback on the travel images now that more time is available to us. Many people commented that they like having Travel and Nature in two separate competitions just for that reason. Our next Travel Competition will be May 7th, so mark your calendars!
