Preliminary notes by transcriber: Diary format Pierce introduced a new form of diary book this year, with one whole page for each date. He used several of the initial alphabetized blank pages for some of the financial records of the ranch. Also he made entries on the Memoranda page (367) at the end of the diary. The Diggs and Pierce Company On 30 of January Pierce mentions explicitly for the first time the "Diggs and Pierce Company" whose real estate activities have been reported in previous diaries, especially dealing with the Hext property. On the 30th they declared a dividend for the company. November 8th Pierce notes that Diggs sent a statement and check to account of Diggs and Pierce with Pierce. University Farm (UC Davis) Picnic on campus on 30 May See list of people present. On Oct 28 Wheeler gave a lecture at U. C. Farm, and on Nov 6th Judge Shields gave one. Several other references to U.
