2 Itinerary: Day 1 Arrive Auckland and onto Wellington Wellington City Arrive at Auckland International Airport. Make your way to the domestic terminal where you board your flight to Wellington and the southern tip of the North Island. On arrival in Wellington your taxi will be waiting for you to transfer you to your accommodation in the city centre. Your central location will allow you to walk around the city at your leisure.wellington is a picture perfect city. It is set between a magnificent harbour and rolling green hills. It is also a compact city where cosmopolitan shops, exciting galleries and great restaurants are within easy walking distance. Visit the sites of Wellington city. En route you can view the South Island and the northern part of the Southern Alps. You travel through a maze of coves and bays on reaching the South Island. On arrival in Picton make your way to the train station (very short walk) to board the Tranz Coastal Train Journey to Christchurch. This train journey is a stunning coastal train journey which hugs the East Coast of the South Island. After a leisurely breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel by your guide, who will take you on a day's tour to Endoras which is situated in the foothills of the Southern Alps. Enjoy the scenic drive across the Canterbury Plains and into the Southern Alps. An exciting 4WD adventure through several small streams and right onto Edoras itself. Take a short guided walk to stand on the summit of Edoras and enjoy as Eowyn did, the breathtaking 360º views. On arrival in Greymouth collect your rental vehicle and drive South towards the Glacier Country.You will journey through stunning rain forest, passing beautiful lakes and quaint villages along route.
