2 lahti 2017 free and classic Lahti is to make history by hosting the Nordic World Ski Championships for the seventh time. Our World Championships story began in 1926, and the newest chapter will be written in 2017, when we welcome hundreds of athletes and their support teams, as well as hundreds of thousands of Championships visitors to Lahti. Lahti 2017 will offer an experience that combines top-level competition events, an abundant and diverse programme of additional activities, and excellent customer service, with ease and quality. The 100th anniversary of Finland s independence will be a key factor in the championship experience. 4 host city lahti Lahti is in an excellent location with regard to the needs of spectators. The fastest train connection from Helsinki to Lahti takes 48 minutes and by car the journey takes an hour. There are direct bus connections between Helsinki Airport and Lahti every hour. Lahti Central Station (opens 2015) is located within walking distance of the FIS Nordic World Championships 2017 venue Lahti Sports Center, hotels and the main sights. There is a direct train connection from Lahti to St Pe tersburg (2 h 45 min). the venue - lahti sports centre Lahti Sports Centre is a truly versatile event and sports arena. Naturally beautiful and with all modern conveniences, in the heart of the city and close to all its services. The Sports Center area features a skiing and ski jumping stadium, indoor and outdoor practice grounds, an ice rink, a conference centre, meeting facilities, the Ski Museum and an auditorium, as well as a number of restaurant services. The Sports Center is located on the Salpausselkä ridge, which is traversed by a network of outdoor trails covering over 100 kilometres (62 miles). The shore of Lake Vesijärvi lies just 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) from the Sports Center.
