1 FACTS & FIGURES 2016
2 Main events 2016 JANUARY APRIL AUGUST Geneva and Zurich approach charges reduced by just under 8% Area control centres Dübendorf and Geneva adopt all-digital control systems Aircraft accident in the Swiss Alps prompts extensive investigation SEPTEMBER SAIP for Zurich Airport: skyguide calls for less complexity and more long-term development OCTOBER DECEMBER istream optimizes Zurich approach wave IFR routes for helicopters with the Low Flight Network ATS financing agreement concluded with regional airports 2
3 IFR flights + 1.8% Traffic evolution IFR flights 15 years of civil and military Skyguide is a High-Reliability Organization Our product is safety. Skyguide was one of the first air navigation services providers to subject its safety culture to a close and careful examination. And in 2016 we conducted our first-ever companywide safety analysis following the international model of Eurocontrol, Europe s umbrella air navigation services organization. The results confirm that we are on the right track: skyguide s safety culture is among Europe s best. Partner of Swiss Air Force Skyguide and the Swiss Air Force celebrated 15 years of integrated civil and military air navigation services in The two organizations and their personnel have grown steadily together over that time. And today we are joined by a genuine partnership that bears particular fruit in our reliable performance of special joint missions, such as our activities in connection with the annual World Economic Forum in Davos and the establishment of a permanent aerial policing capability for Switzerland. 3
4 IFR landings/departures + 0.9% Traffic evolution IFR landings/departures air navigation services Sustainable solution for ATS services at regional aerodromes The financing of air traffic services at Switzerland s Category II airports (such as Bern, Lugano and St Gallen-Altenrhein) is close to a solution. Skyguide has concluded individual contractual agreements with all such regional airports which will ensure the continued provision of these key infrastructural services. Revision 1+ to the Federal Aviation Act The Swiss National Council debated Revision 1 + to the Federal Aviation Act in its 2016 winter session. One item which is of particular importance to skyguide is that the company should continue to be reimbursed the costs of the air navigation services which it provides in the adjacent airspace areas of neighbouring countries which have been delegated to its control. FABEC audit organisation honoured IntACT, the FABEC audit organization which skyguide co-founded, has been honoured with the international CANSO Global Safety Achievement Award. This is one example of how we contribute to the successful implementation of the Single European Sky. 4

A distinction must be made here between a movement and a flight. Generally speaking, one flight will generate multiple flight movements which are registered at the various control centres along its route. It will also generate one or two airport movements for skyguide if its airport of departure and/ or arrival is in the airspace the company controls Change Area control centres Geneva % Zurich % Total % Change IFR landings/departures Bern Belp % Buochs % Donaueschingen % Friedrichshafen % Geneva % Grenchen % Les Eplatures % Lugano Agno % Sion % St. Gallen Altenrhein % Zurich % Total % 8

The delays that did occur were attributable primarily to short-term capacity shortages (41%), personnel shortages or absences (29%), adverse weather conditions (25%), and system maintenance work (3%).
