4 Geo Reference System SC Primary Geo Ref will be LAT/LONG expressed in degrees, minutes, and decimal minutes Posi on (Point & Area) Reference Procedures: This plan is based upon the use of la tude/longitude expressed in degrees, minutes, and decimal minutes (example: N /W ). For purposes of this plan, World Geode c System 1984 (WGS 84) and North American Datum 1983 (NAD 83) are considered equivalent. SAR Grids will be defined using Global Area Reference System (GARS). Be cau ous in reading coordinates some users define points using degree, minutes and seconds. Although the error is usually small, it can mean the difference in a crisis response. Pay a en on and ask the ques on if you are unsure of the data you are receiving. NOTE: Ground units may pass informa on using Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) or Na onal Geode c Reference System coordinates. This data will need to be converted into la tude/ longitude for use by avia on assets. The ACA encompasses the landmass expected to be impacted by the disaster and the airspace from the surface, generally up to but not including 6,000 AGL. Specific lat/longs of the ACA boundaries will be published in the Daily SPINS. For deconflic on all aircra will monitor, transmit posi on, and coordinate on the following frequencies when opera ng in ACA and TFR s: Fixed Wing: Rotary Wing: *REFERENCE SPINs FOR MOST UP TO DATE COMM PLAN 22 5
