5 How Does Landscaping Effect Your Home s Value? Are you concerned about the amount of money you spend on landscaping and your home s value? What will it mean if you want to sell your home? Will you actually recoup the money you have spent on landscaping your property? Money Magazine determined that landscaping offers an excellent return on investment. Actually, it ranks top out of any home improvement. In addition, there was a study done by the American Society of Landscape Architects in conjunction with Money Magazine. 22 BEFORE & AFTER Homeowners Rick and Jodi Alessandri had decided they wanted to upgrade the curb appeal of their Skillman, NJ home while at the same time create a gathering area for family, friends and neighbors. We stopped at the *Stone Center in Bridgewater, NJ to see the various paving stone options, including colors, shapes and finishes. We had been there in the past and found their displays to be a great source to get some ideas. We then met with our landscape contractor, *Chris Demato of Rock Bottom Landscaping, to let him know what we were looking for. We wanted to enlarge the walkway in the front of our house to make it more inviting and create a small gathering area; a fire pit on a patio in the back of the house with a sitting wall enclosing the area for privacy, a safe way to transition from the driveway to the patio- as our backyard is on a slope; and replace an unattractive retaining wall.
