2 Sacred Mountain Trek Outline Starting and ending in Kathmandu, thi 9 night / 10 day trekking itinerary take you the Annapurna region of Nepal. It i a low-altitude trek, reaching a maximum altitude of jut over 2,000m. A relatively hort itinerary, a minimum amount of time i pent traveling between each detination, enabling you to make the mot of your time in Nepal. You will trek for approx. 5 hour each day, and tay in comfortable, heated lodge, including the Gokarna Foret Reort (in Kathmandu), the Shangri-La Village Reort (in Pokhara), and Ker & Downey Lodge (whilt trekking). en route with an etimated late afternoon arrival. (Trek time 3 4 hour). Overnight at the Sanctuary Lodge. Day 1: Kathmandu (4265ft / 1300m) Upon arrival in Kathmandu you will be met and aited by a local repreentative and tranferred to the Gokarna Foret Reort. Overnight at Gokarna Foret Reort. Gokarna Foret Reort The 188ha Gokarna Foret Reerve i located a hort ditance from Kathmandu. There will be a pre-trip briefing in Pokhara before we tranfer by road with guide and porter to our trek tart point (1- hour). Our walk will follow a ridgeline in the lower foothill of the Annapurna with urrounding view of the Pokhara Valley. Thi route then drop to the Modi River Valley, where our reting point for the night, the Sanctuary Lodge, i located. The lodge ha magnificent view of the acred and unclimbed Fihtail Mountain, or Machhapuchhre, a it i locally known. A picnic lunch i provided Day 3: Trek to Himalaya Lodge, Ghandruk (6,600ft / 2012m) After breakfat, we leave the lodge and tart our walk through the urrounding farm a we follow the Modi River Valley. Soon we begin to climb out of the valley and up toward the mountain. The trail pae through mall hamlet, terraced rice field and foret with pectacular view of the urrounding valley. Snack are provided along the trail. Hot lunch i erved on arrival at the Himalaya Lodge in the early afternoon. From Himalaya Lodge there are magnificent view of the urrounding mountain. Trek time: 5 6 hour. Overnight at the Himalaya Lodge. Day 4: Himalaya Lodge We wake up thi morning with tea and coffee erved in the garden and watch the unrie over Annapurna South, Annapurna 1, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre. After enjoying a relaxing breakfat and the gloriou view from the Himalaya Lodge, our guide will take u on an exploration of thi mountain village and the urrounding countryide. Ghandruk wa once a major recruitment centre for the famou Gurkha oldier. The women of Ghandruk maintain a local indutry of weaving traditional Nepalee rug. Overnight at the Himalaya Lodge. Day 5: Trek to Sanctuary Lodge, Birethanti (3750ft / 1150m) After breakfat, we leave the Himalaya Lodge walking out through the village of Ghandruk. Buffaloe and goat graze in the urrounding field and you may have to make way for the donkey and mule train that convey good to and from the Gurkha ettlement. We continue decending for 2 3 hour until we reach Shauli Bazaar. From here, we follow along the Modi River until we
3 reach the Sanctuary Lodge. We'll have lunch at the lodge followed by another opportunity to walk to the village of Birethanti. Day 8: Trek to Pokhara (3300ft / 1000m) After breakfat, we depart along the ridge and decend through the wooded hillide and terraced farmland to the valley floor. Trek time: 1.5 hour. We then tranfer by vehicle to the Shangri-La Village Reort in Pokhara (30 minute). On the way back to Pokhara, the vehicle can top on requet at a Tibetan refugee camp, where you will have time to explore the temple complex. We'll arrive at the Shangri-La Village Reort early afternoon in time for lunch. Day 6: Trek to Gurung Lodge, Majgaun (4620ft / 1400m) Following a leiurely breakfat, we leave the Sanctuary lodge and trek to Gurung Lodge at 1,450 meter. We cro the bridge nearby the lodge and tart heading up the Modi River. Thi i a little ued trail that tart off on a rocky path along the river bank and then meander through a foreted area. We oon reach a winding tone taircae which we climb. After about ½ an hour on the tair cae, we reach level ground at a mall farming hamlet on a ridge. We trek along thi ridge to the village of Waday. From Waday there are far reaching view of the whole valley. Our trek then decend a hort ditance to a mall but turdy upenion bridge. After croing thi bridge, we have another uphill puh, paing though the mall village of Patlekhet and Majgaun, before arriving at the Gurung Lodge in time for lunch. Trek time: 3-4 hour. The room at the Shangri-La are filled with ethnic touche. Surrounding the room are paciou, landcaped garden, water feature, a wimming pool and tunning view of the urrounding mountain. In the afternoon we climb to a ridgeline on the wet bank of the Modi Khola, gaining a pectacular view of the Matterhorn-like pire of 23,000ft Machhapuchhre. We continue along to Chomrong, the lat permanent village below the Annapurna Sanctuary, et at the bae of Hiunchuli (20,782ft / 6300m). confine of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Trek time: 4-5 hour. Overnight at a local lodge. Day 7: Annapurna Bae Camp (13,550ft / 4100m) The gorge widen a we climb toward Hinko Cave, until finally the full glory of the Annapurna Sanctuary come into view. Overnight at a local lodge. Day 8: Himalaya (9580ft / 2920m) After we enjoy our lat view of the Annapurna Sanctuary, we head out the "gate" and begin our decent to the Modi Khola Valley. Day 4: Majgaon - Dhampu (1650m) Thi morning we tart out trekking through the unpoiled village of Patlekhet. Day 5: Dhampu Pokhara Kathmandu (B) After breakfat, we depart along the ridge and decend through the wooded hillide and terraced farmland to the valley floor (3300ft/1000m). We meet our vehicle here for the hort drive to Pokhara airport and our flight back to Kathmandu. Tranfer to the Gokarna Foret Reort for ret and relaxation. Trek time: 3 hour. Overnight at Gokarna Foret Reort. Day 6: Kathmandu Lukla (2850m) Phakding (2610m) We make an early tart to take a hort but pectacular mountain flight to Lukla, the tart point of our trek. During your flight, keep an eye out for the Langtang and Jugal range, followed by the Rolwaling Himal, Gauriankar and Menlumte, before getting your firt glimpe of Everet. Day 7: Phakding Monjo (2835m) After breakfat we trek to the village of Monjo. The gently undulating trail follow the right bank of the Dudh Kohi through Phakding village, before reaching the firt of everal river croing (wire upenion bridge). Continuing through pine foret and mall village we come to a break in the tree to catch ight of the mighty Thamerku (6623m) towering way above. A couple more hour of woodland trail and waying bridge bring u to the mall village of Monjo. Our lodge for the night i located above the village with pectacular view of Thamerku and Kuum Kangri. After lunch at lodge there' an opportunity to explore the ide valley and village with your guide. Trek time: 3 hour. Overnight at Yeti Mountain Home, Monjo. Our trekking crew meet u at the Lukla airtrip where we'll pend a few minute orting out our kit before etting off through thi winding village to the trek tart proper at the Khumbu 'gateway'. It' gently downhill on pitched tone trail through low rhododendron foret, mall 'garden' farm and old and new hamlet to the bank of the foaming Dudh Kohi River. There will be plenty of hort top to meet the local, take photograph and jut oak up the cenery and the clear mountain air a we meander along, the undulating trail glimping view of 6000m now-capped peak high above. 9 Day 9: Namche Today we'll take a gentle walk to gain a little height and then have the afternoon free to explore the hop and cafe of thi delightful little town. Your guide will take you to a number of wonderful viewpoint to ee the tar of the mountain world pread out before you: Lhote, Nupte, Everet, Ama Dablam... they encircle the deep valley ide in a magnificent arena. You hould alo be able to ee the trail to Everet. If you're feeling energied we'll continue on to the delightful village of Kumjung and Kunde with their health pot and chool, both tarted by the Sir Edmund Hilary Fund. Now i a good time to give your gratitude to your porter and trekking crew for their upport and to bid them farewell. Trek time: 5-6 hour. Overnight at Yeti Mountain Home, Lukla. Day 12: Lukla Kathmandu After breakfat we fly back to Kathmandu. After landing, you will be tranferred to your hotel. You will have the afternoon free to relax and perhap enjoy the pa after the completion of your trek. Overnight at the Gokarna Foret Reort. After lunch you are free to head down to the Namche market to browe the hop, chat to the local and maybe pick up a ouvenir or two. You may alo ee the Tibetan trader who make a yearly journey over the high pae from the Tibetan plateau with their yak laden with good to ell at the market. Late in the afternoon there' an option to viit Namche Monatery. The monatery i about 80 year old and ha beautiful Thanka painting of Tibetan deitie. You can burn a butterlamp for your loved one. Day 13: Kathmandu After enjoying a leiurely breakfat at the hotel, we'll be met by our guide for a day trip to a few of the Kathmandu Valley' mot pectacular and important ight, a well a ome vibrant, colourful market. Overnight at Yeti Mountain Home, Namche. Day 10: Namche Monjo After Breakfat, we decend back to Monjo. We will reach Monjo at lunch time. After lunch at the lodge, you are free to relax your day. Day 2: Trek to Sanctuary Lodge (3750ft / 1150m) After an optional early morning flight to Mount Everet, we fly to Pokhara. There will be a pre-trip briefing in Pokhara before we tranfer by road with guide and porter to our trek tart point (1- hour). Our walk will follow a ridgeline in the lower foothill of the Annapurna with urrounding view of the Pokhara Valley. Thi route then drop to the Modi River Valley, where our reting point for the night, the Sanctuary Lodge, i located. The lodge ha magnificent view of the acred and unclimbed Fihtail Mountain, or Machhapuchhre, a it i locally known. A picnic lunch i provided en route with an etimated late afternoon arrival. Day3: Trek to Himalaya Lodge, Ghandruk (6,600ft / 2012m) After breakfat, we leave the lodge and tart our walk through the urrounding farm a we follow the Modi River Valley. Soon we begin to climb out of the valley and up toward the mountain. The trail pae through mall hamlet, terraced rice field and foret with pectacular view of the urrounding valley. Snack are
11 provided along the trail. Hot lunch i erved on arrival at the Himalaya Lodge in the early afternoon. From Himalaya Lodge there are magnificent view of the urrounding mountain. Trek time: 5 6 hour. Overnight at the Himalaya Lodge. Day 4: Himalaya Lodge We wake up thi morning with tea and coffee erved in the garden and watch the unrie over Annapurna South, Annapurna 1, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre. After enjoying a relaxing breakfat and the gloriou view from the Himalaya Lodge, our guide will take u on an exploration of thi mountain village and the urrounding countryide. Ghandruk wa once a major recruitment centre for the famou Gurkha oldier. The women of Ghandruk maintain a local indutry of weaving traditional Nepalee rug. Overnight at the Himalaya Lodge. After lunch, you may chooe to hike with your guide to the nearby village of Tanchok, where there i a traditional houe now made into a mueum. Day 5: Trek to Sanctuary Lodge, Birethanti (3750ft / 1150m) After breakfat, we leave the Himalaya Lodge walking out through the village of Ghandruk. Buffaloe and goat graze in the urrounding field and you may have to make way for the donkey and mule train that convey good to and from the Gurkha ettlement. We continue decending for 2 3 hour until we reach Shauli Bazaar. From here, we follow along the Modi River until we reach the Sanctuary Lodge. We'll have lunch at the lodge followed by another opportunity to walk to the village of Birethanti. Alternatively, you may chooe to pend the afternoon relaxing by the river bank. Overnight at the Sanctuary Lodge. Day 6: Trek to Gurung Lodge, Majgaun (4620ft / 1400m) Following a leiurely breakfat, we leave the Sanctuary lodge and trek to Gurung Lodge at 1,450 meter. We cro the bridge nearby the lodge and tart heading up the Modi River. Thi i a little ued trail that tart off on a rocky path along the river bank and then meander through a foreted area. We oon reach a winding tone taircae which we climb. After about ½ an hour on the tair cae, we reach level ground at a mall farming hamlet on a ridge. We trek along thi ridge to the village of Waday. From Waday there are far reaching view of the whole valley. Our trek then decend a hort ditance to a mall but turdy upenion bridge. After croing thi bridge, we have another uphill puh, paing though the mall village of Patlekhet and Majgaun, before arriving at the Gurung Lodge in time for lunch. Trek time: 3-4 hour. Day 7: Trek to Baanta Lodge, Dhampu (5000ft / 1525m) Thi morning we tart out trekking through the unpoiled village of Patlekhet. Our walk take u through ub-tropical foret that include tree orchid, rhododendron and magnolia. Along the way, we will top at the village of Pothana where many Tibetan trader live and ell their ouvenir. After about 3.5 hour, we arrive at the Baanta Lodge. From the lodge, there are weeping view of the entire Annapurna Range. After lunch at the lodge there will be an optional walk through the old village of Dhampu. Overnight at the Baanta Lodge. Day 8: Trek to Pokhara (3300ft / 1000m) After breakfat, we depart along the ridge and decend through the wooded hillide and terraced farmland to the valley floor. Trek time 1.5 hour. We then tranfer by vehicle to the Shangri-La Village Reort in Pokhara (30 minute). On the way back to Pokhara, the vehicle can top on requet at the Tibetan refugee camp where you will have time to explore the temple complex. We'll arrive at the Shangri-La Village in time for lunch. The room at the Shangri-La are filled with ethnic touche. Surrounding the room are paciou, landcaped garden, water feature, a wimming pool and tunning view of the urrounding mountain. 12 Day 9: Seti River Camp (1000ft / 300m) Thi morning we tranfer to Damauli, a journey of ome 1½ hour through the countryide. Here we will be met by our experienced boat crew, who will give u a full briefing prior to launch. The Seti River ha no road acce and o the river and urrounding valley remain pritine. Floating down the river give u a chance to ee village life along the bank a well a the abundant variety of bird. There will be a picnic lunch on a andy beach on the way to the camp. Today, there are 2 mall rapid of no more than grade 2 and are no longer than 165ft / 50m. The remainder of the trip i very much a float experience. Upon arrival, you will be hown to your afari tyle tent with bed, changing room, veranda, and attached bathroom. Rafting time: 2 to 3 hour, depending on water level. Overnight at Seti River Camp. Day 12: Kaara Jungle Reort Today we'll have a whole day of jungle activitie: afari in earch of rhinocero, Bengal tiger (if you are very lucky), deer, bird, monkey, a well canoeing in the Rapti River. In addition there i an option for a foret walk with a naturalit, bird watching with an ornithologit, or a jeep afari. We'll alo learn about the Aian elephant during the Elephant Lecture. In the evening, we'll be entertained with a cultural dance of the ethnic group Tharu, who are the origin of Terai. Overnight at Kaara Jungle Reort.. Day 10: Seti River Camp (1000ft / 300m) Today we will have a layover day at the Seti River Camp. Thi econd day allow u time to truly relax. In the morning we'll hike through urrounding foret to remote nearby village, where very few tourit go. Lunch i at the camp. The afternoon i free to explore the landcaped garden, riverbank, or jut relax in a hammock or tree houe. The evening i pent around an open fire of driftwood, at thi unique afari-tyle river camp. Overnight at Seti River Camp. Day 13: Kathmandu (4265ft / 1300m) We walk down to the road head near Birethanti, and continue by private vehicle to Pokhara. Once back in Pokhara, we bid farewell to our trekking taff and return to Kathmandu by air. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we'll viit Durbar Square. Kathmandu' Durbar Square wa where the city' king were once crowned and from where they ruled (durbar mean 'palace'). Day 3: Majgaon Landrung (1630m) After breakfat, we bid farewell to Majgaon and head toward Ker & Downey' Landrung Lodge. The trail pae through rhododendron foret and mall Gurung village. After 3-4 hour we reach the beautiful village of Landrung. After having lunch in the

Overnight at Ker & Downey' Landrung Lodge Ghorepani, a mall ettlement mainly inhabited by the magar, the predominant ethnic group of thi region. Trek time: 3 hour. Overnight at a local lodge. Day 7: Ghorepani Tikhedhunga (1540m) Thoe willing to wake early thi morning can take an optional hike to Poon Hill (3210m), before decending back to Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, we continue to Tikhedhunga. It i a gradual decent, paing through village like Nangathanti, Banthanti and Ulleri en route. Trek time: 4 hour. Overnight at a local lodge. Day 4: Landrung Ghandruk (2012m) We wake early, and begin decending toward Modi Khola. The trail goe teeply down toward the river through cattered village with beautiful view of the Himalaya then there i a teep acent to reach Ghandruk. The lodge here in Ghandruk i built in the Gurung tyle, but with the expected modern amenitie and comfort; it ha a large common dining room with a friendly fireplace & comfortable room with pectacular view of the mountain.. Day 8: Tikhedhunga Birethanti (1150m) After a leiurely breakfat we head toward Birethanti. Our accommodation for the night, Sanctuary Lodge, i ituated cloe to the Modi River Valley, with magnificent view of the towering Machhapuchhre. Lunch i at the lodge followed by an optional walk to the village of Birethanti. Alternatively, you may chooe to pend the afternoon exploring the urrounding river valley. Trek time: 3 hour. Overnight at Ker & Downey' Sanctuary Lodge. From Ghandruk, you have excellent view of Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fihtail), Mt Annapurna, and variou other nowcapped mountain. If time permit, viit the Annapurna Mountain Conervation Area Project (ACAP) headquarter, the local mueum and the village. Trek time: 4 to 5 hour. Overnight at Ker & Downey' Himalaya Lodge.. Day 9: Birethanti Pokhara (900m) After early morning tea and coffee erved on your verandah, take the opportunity to photograph the tunning cenery of the Annapurna from everal different location around the Lodge. After breakfat we leave the village of Birethanti and walk to Nayapool, where we meet our vehicle. Tranfer approx. 1 hour to Pokhara. Arrival in Pokhara will be in time for lunch. Day 5: Ghandruk Banthanti (3180m) Leaving Ghandruk, you tread along the zigzag path on a teep lope. A you acend teeply, you pa through dene rhododendron foret to Tadapani which i an ideal vantage point from which to glimpe the tunning ight of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhare.
