1 MYSTERIES OF THE VERCORS A bit like the Dolomites! Vast altitude plateau, the Vercors Massif offers to hikers a harmonious wilderness. Climbing on the plateau is the first days' goal... A steep ascent into limestone where ibex and chamois are often visible, in the morning. Then we hike in a mix of mediterranean and dolomitic landscapes on top of the ridges, between Grand-Veymont and the Mont Aiguille, with the Ecrins Massif as background. Here we are about to enter the Dévoluy, under the face of the Grand-Ferrand, in the classified valley of Jarjatte. The hike is now more alpine in this surprising range. Have you already heard about the Chourum? Quick passage into the Dévoluy, because we cannot miss the Montagne de Bure, an altitude desert where giant parables are scanning our universe. Way back by the Col Aiguille, where the bearded vulture nestles... 2 The route Day 1 Meeting at 9:00am at the train station of Monestier-de-Clermont and transfer to Gresse-en-Vercors. VERCORS PLATEAU - MONT AIGUILLE Climb up to the Pas de la Ville (1925m), entering the Vercors plateau. Traverse under the Grand-Veymont summit (2341m), into the vast areas of the high plateau. Passing by the hut of the Aiguillettes, the Pas de la Selle, then the Col de l'aupet, at the foot of the elegant Mont Aiguille. Descend to the village Chichilianne. A more bucolic itinerary is possible via the Col Lalimas and the eastern face of the Mont Aiguille. Traverse the tiny hamlets and panoramic view. Night in a hotel, in bedroom, with your baggage. 6.5 hour walk / Distance: 14km / Elevation: +950m -1150m 5 hour walk / Distance: 13km / Elevation: +700m -880m via the Col Lalimas Day 2 PAS DE L'ESSAURE - RIDGES COMBAU Climb up to the plateau via the Pas de l'essaure (1714m) that gives access to the heavenly valley Combeau. The day keeps on a wonderful, wild but easy path on the ridges of the southern Vercors, to the Col Menée. Night in a refuge, surrounded by sheep, without your baggage. 5.5 hour walk / Distance: 14km / Elevation: +940m -600m Day 3 MONT JOCOU - LUS-LA-CROIX-HAUTE Climb up to the Col Jiboui to get to the ridges that lead to the Jocou summit (2051m). Away,the Ecrins Massif, the Obiou and the Dévoluy sprinkle the landscape. Griffon vultures prowl... Descend into the pastures of the Col de Vente-Cul, and arrive to the small village Lus-la-Croix-Haute. Night in a gite, with your baggage. 5 hour walk / Distance: 11km / Elevation: +720m -950m Day 4 FRANCE AND PAILLE RIDGES Depart from the village and enter the Tranchemule valley. At the mountain pass, sight over the whole Grand-Ferrand range (2758m). We hike on top of the ridges for a while before descending into the Jarjatte valley that we slowly discover. Short transfer to Lus-La-Croix-Haute and night in a gite with your baggage. 5.5 hour walk / Distance: 13km / Elevation: +980m -810m Day 5 LAKE LAUZON - COL CHARNIER Short transfer to the departure of the hike. The Jarjatte valley is a jewel that stayed away from the massive tourism. Stunning hike under the southern foothills of the Grand-Ferrand in an alpine high-mountain atmosphere. The Col Charnier marks the entrance in the Dévoluy, country of Chourum (natural cavities formed by the combined action of wind and rain). Way down toward the hamlet Lachau and setting for 2 nights in a gite, with your baggage. 5.5 hour walk / Distance: 11km / Elevation: +930m -730m Day 6 MONTAGNE DE BURE A loop trek to discover the plateau of Bure (2560m) and its wild face. Transfer to Col Festre. Ascent under the Aurouze

3 mountain and traverse the plateau to the observatory and its sky scanning parables. Lunar atmosphere! Descent via the same itinerary or via the Aurouze valley through an incredible limestone scree. Quick transfer and way back to the gite. 6.5 hour walk / Distance: 14km / Elevation: via the Aurouze valley Day 7 COL AIGUILLE - JARJATTE Depart from the gite through the pastures of Rama. Way up in the valley Les Aiguilles before reaching the pass that leads back into the Vercors Park. Then a nice descend over the Jarjatte, with hopefully the chance to see a bearded vulture! Arriving to the village, transfer to the train station of Lus-la-Croix-Haute. 5 hour walk / Distance: 12km / Elevation: via the Aurouze valley End of the trek at the train station of Lus-la-Croix-Haute around 4pm and way back with a taxi to Monestier-de-Clermont. The itinerary is established according to the latest information available, the possibility of unknown factors affecting this itinerary is possible including situations beyond our control which may change the route, timings, etc. LEVEL *** The trip Elevation: +/- 900m average per day. Walking time: 5 to 6.5 hours per day. Type of trek: well-marked trails. One to two steep passages to ascent the Montagne de Bure. GUIDING Number in a group between 6 and 14 people supervised by a qualified professional mountain leader. BAGGAGE TRANSPORT With baggage transport: your baggage is transported daily by our logistics vehicle, except on Day 2. ACCOMMODATION 3 nights in gites or hotels in 2 to 4 person bedroom (in Chichilianne, hotel with SPA, extra cost 15 per person). 1 night in a refuge in dormitory, without the baggage. 2 nights in gites in dormitory. MEALS Breakfast and dinner are provided in each accommodation. 4 ACCESS TO DEPARTURE POINT Meeting at 9:00am at the train station of Monestier-de-Clermont and transfer to Gresse-en-Vercors. BY TRAIN Return: Paris/Grenoble/Monestier-de-Clermont. Check the website to know all schedules. Transfer from Monestier to Gresse-en-Vercors with Altitude Montblanc. BY CAR Take the A48 motorway to Grenoble, then A51 to Sisteron, exit Monestier-de-Clermont. Transfer from Monestier to Gresse-en-Vercors with Altitude Montblanc. End point around 4:00pm in Monestier-de-Clermont. ACCOMMODATION BEFORE AND AFTER Extra night in Gresse-en-Vercors: 65 euros on a half board basis. PHYSICAL CONDITION To be able to easily walk 15km (on flat trails) in 3 hours maximum. If this is not the case, at least 3 weeks before departure, 2 to 3 times a week, we advise you to undertake some prior fitness training: 4 to 5km jogging or 3 to 4 hours hiking or cycling. Your physical preparation will enable you to enjoy your trek to the maximum. INSURANCE In accordance with regulations, we are covered by Professional Liability Insurance. In no case can we be responsible for your own Personal Liability. BAGGAGE TRANSPORT Your baggage will be transported daily between accommodation by our logistics vehicle. You are allowed 1 soft, sports type bag with all your possessions inside, no heavier than 10kg (for your own ease and comfort carrying your bag upstairs and in the dormitories, we do not advise rigid suitcases, heavy or large baggage).
