The Bull TOTO TAURI ACCOMODANT - IMPRIMEREMUS Barony of Stierbach, Volume 23 Issue 1, January 2019 Baronial Business Meeting: December, 11th Meeting called to order at 7:05 pm by Seneschal, Duchess Esa Kirkepatrike Officers present: Baron Dietrich Saphir zum Drache Baroness Karin Taylor de Cameron Seneschal, Duchess Esa Kirkepatrike Deputy Seneschal, Baroness Aine ingen Chuimin Outgoing Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Stephan Grimm Incoming Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mistress Ceridwen ferch Rhys ap Michael Outgoing Minister of Arts & Science, Lady Failenn Chu ingen ui Fhaelain Incoming Minister of Art & Science, Lady Esa inghean Donnchaidh Webminister, Master Richard Wymarc Holiday Faire autocrat, Baroness Arnbjǫrg Karlsdottir Chronicler, Isobel of Carnewyth Words from their Excellencies: Saphir: Unevent was fun, eventful, interesting, and well attended. A) Merry Christmas, B) an idea Isobel and I (Saphir) have been working on is in addition to the website, we would like to bring attention to individuals in the barony to be added to the newsletter, like an interview where a person picks five questions and sends in answers with pictures, a Who s Who in the Barony. Alderic suggested that devices be included and that it may be more fruitful to select volunteers. Saphir has offered to go first (feature to appear in February s newsletter). Officer Reports: Exchequer: There are no open resolutions. The final numbers for Holiday Faire included 145 adults, ~27 children, 76 merchants, 20 tables and chairs, and 6 family caps. The proceeds from the silent auction are being donated to the Atlantian travel fund and some money was earned from the turkey shoot for archery. Arnbjǫrg reiterated that the next Baronial Birthday should try to have a profit next year to compensate for expected loses when Holiday Faire changes sites.

Motion to reimburse the Steward (Johanna van den Vaerst) for the cost of a new storage tub. Passed with none opposed. Arts & Sciences: (Lady Esa) There were approximately eight displays at Holiday Faire. (Lady Failenn) Five students attended the October A&S class on veils and 2 attended the silk banners class. The next university is in February (student enrollment opens online Jan. 4). New Business: Baronial Birthday date discussion: Arnbjǫrg: June or September is best pending venue availability, we will need a new autocrat for Holiday Faire next year. Social Media for the Barony: Richard: We received new guidance at Unevent that we should set up an official facebook page and a social media deputy. He suggested that page admins should include the Seneschal, Barons, and Webminister. The current discussion group can stay unofficial, but the Baronial page will be locked down. Isobel of Carnewyth was approved as Social Media Deputy with none opposed. Additional Unevent updates: Alderic: Kingdom-wide, armored fighting is on the decline. Use of live steel is an experiment in progress. Rapier will start online concussion training via University of Michigan s online program and will be required for all fighters. Rapier marshals are down but authorizations are up 25%. Punch tests will be required for masks every 2 years and there are currently 5 tools in Atlantia. Each group is encouraged to get one, discussion followed. Cut and thrust has new hand protection requirements. Combat archery will be separating heavy and rapier warrants and authorizations, which will not be grandfathered. If you are current, you can choose one and then pursue the other. Arnbjorg added that marshals need all the classes to cover both still. Alderic cont d: Target archery has seen an attendance decline but thrown weapons have been increasing. Arnbjorg added that Aiden wants to bring combat archery to more of the rapier community and there will be a Pennsic discussion and outreach. Ceridwen has exchequer information if so needed. Shields for Elchenburg Castle (War of the Wings site): Arnbjorg: Shields in the barn can be purchased for $85 and function as a fundraiser to support improvements. Can do personal, household, or barony arms. Grimm: We should put it to a populace vote next month, suggested we use the Facebook page to promote. Duchess Esa: Let s do an unofficial polling on Facebook to gauge popular opinion. Old Business: Holiday Faire: Arnbjǫrg: There are still items in the lost and found. Final troll count was 435. Merchants seem likely to follow the event to a new site next year if the event takes place at the same time nearby. *A new autocrat is needed for next year* although Arnbjorg and Aiden can help. Two people can run the event, with one autocrat and one merchant coordinator. A lunch tavern is also

needed. The potential Clarke County site can do 63 spaces indoors and we could do a 30 x40 populace tent for lunch. Canton Updates: Sudentorre: Alderic: Defending the Gate will be held March 23 rd and have combat. Rapier will have the gate for the first hour and a half. Upcoming Events: Midwinter Marshal Symposium 12/15, 12th Night 1/11-1/13, and Ice Castles 1/19. Next Business meeting: Tuesday January 8 th, 2019, at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Meeting adjourned by Seneschal Duchess Esa at approximately 7:44 pm. Spotlight Watch this space for a feature on "Who's Who in Your Barony" starting in February!
