2 2. Minutes of the Last Meeting The December 2017 minutes were reviewed for content and accuracy. The December minutes were approved. 3. David Laws 6 month update and AMP DL updated the committee on a challenging 6 months and explaining that there will be more challenges to come. DL explained that he is very pleased with the progress of LBA and stated that LBA had 4 million passengers throughout the year despite the loss of Monarch. DL give an introduction to AMP (recent purchasers of LBA) and explained their involvement is a huge positive for the Airport as they are long term investors with airport experience. DL give an overview of the changes that will be happening over the course of These are as follows; - Passengers to pass through security within 6 minutes - Saltaire Bar to be renovated - Starbucks to open Airside - New lounges to be opened by Easter - Viking Airport parking to be operational by March - All Airport signage to be looked at and replaced DL advised the committee that 2018 will be a very exciting year for LBA. 4. Route Development Report CS explained that there has been a reduction in the BA capacity because the load factor and therefore profitability wasn t where they needed to be. CS went on to state that the main connecting routes from LHR are still served however LBA has suffered because BA cannot fill their flights. CS explained that rail services are also getting better to London which makes it easier for most people to travel. CS explained the effects Brexit will have on the aviation industry. CS stated that Airlines will just have to deal with it when the Brexit deal is made. Charles Johnson briefed the committee members on the Parkway Station. CJ explained that the Airport sits on numerous Boards so he is currently pushing hard with senior figures in Leeds to make sure the Parkway Station is delivered as early as possible. CJ explained that currently the station is due to open in Comments HR questioning why BA are making money from Manchester but not from LBA? CS explained that the many more BA flights to and from Manchester consistently achieve a much higher load factor than that from LBA. Post meeting Chris Sanders issued the below statement Further to my update prepared for the last meeting, we have now learnt that Thomas Cook are unable to base an aircraft at Leeds Bradford next summer as they have been unable to allocate an aircraft to either Leeds Bradford or Luton the two bases which they announced in the immediate aftermath of the Monarch collapse. Both bases were planned to receive a third-party aircraft operated and flown by another airline but crewed by Thomas Cook cabin crew. The market for such aircraft has become extremely tight for next summer and very unfortunately we have lost out. Bookings had been good and we take some solace in the fact that the remaining Turkey flights are all on larger A321 aircraft. They tried to protect as much of the flying using non-based aircraft as they could but, again due to aircraft availability, they have only been able to retain two weekly flights to Dalaman, two weekly flights to Antalya and a weekly Palma flight. The Dalaman (Wed/Sat) and Antalya (Thu/Sun) flights will be operated by larger Thomas Cook A321 aircraft while Palma (Mon) will operate with an Air Europa Boeing
3 6/7/8 Noise and Track Movement Papers and Presentation - Appendix 1 Tracey Stevenson gave an overview on noise and track keeping. 9. Any other business Q&A Consultative Committee SW gave a verbal update on the changes within the terminal. SW stated that currently, the terminal is very awkward to navigate through, and the aim within 2018 is to reconfigure the inside of the terminal to make navigation easier. SW stated that the aim is to have all check in on one side of the Airport and to get passengers through security as efficently as possible. SW explained that the terminal needs simplifying for passengers to enjoy it, the first stage in this is relocating the fire station, alternative locatons for which are currently being discussed. Comments Ken Cothliffe questioned if we have any thoughts on Frieght operations? CJ stated that we are currently looking into this and are in discussions with a handling agent, however freight is changing becoming increasing focused on small, high value items. CJ explained that the Frieght industry is not easy to break into. Richard Bedford questioned whether the staff working for the Viking carpark will be working for LBA? CS stated that the staff will work for LBA. Heather Ruane stated that it is very nice to see so many positive reviews about the Airport. CS stated that we have a new PR officer who is working on improving relationships with the press and to let the public know of the plans for the Airport. A discussion then took place with regards to the current carparking and signage, it was agreed that all signage within the carparks needs changing as it is very confusing. HR stated that the red cones in the middle of the road are not only unprofessional but also dangerous. SW stated that we are currently looking into our carparks and hopefully the public should start seeing changes in 2018.
