3 Introduction In 2014 the European Historic Houses Association took the decision to support National Associations more actively in developing the participation from the future generation. In the newly appointed voluntary role of Next Generation Coordinator, William Cartwright-Hignett has been working with National Associations across the continent to create and develop groups, widening the participation by Next Gen members. The Next Gen groups will support and inform future owners and their families on matters relating to the management of heritage property and its inter-generational transmission. Key to this is the organisation of an annual Next Gen conference which will be the first European-wide meeting of its kind to focus specifically on succession planning for heritage property and the associated family business. Participants will be attending from across Europe, presenting an opportunity to meet and discuss mutual challenges, as well as learning from the solutions found elsewhere. You are invited. 5 Friday 20 March : Broughton Castle Time from 5:30pm Arrival at Broughton Castle Those travelling by car can arrive directly to Broughton Castle after 5:30pm; For those travelling with the coach, there will be a pick-up from Banbury rail station at 17:45 (direct trains from London and Birmingham Airport) 6:00pm 7:30pm 9pm Guided visit of Broughton Castle, by kind permission of Lord Saye & Sele Buffet supper Depart (Coach calls at Deddington Village and Aynho Village)

Tickets will be available for non-conference participants to attend the ball in the evening. Ball Only tickets will cost 95 including food and drink.

10 Accommodation We recommend that you book your accommodation as early as possible. There is a wide range of options at all prices, but for those travelling by car, the options are widest. We are still negotiating special rates and fuller details will appear in the next couple of weeks. When you book, please mention the conference. In addition, there may be a small number of cost-effective homestays available with local families. If interested, please let us know (best if you have a car). If you are not bringing or hiring a car, then you should try to stay at one of the locations in List A (Aynho or Deddington) as we can arrange transport to and from the venue. The Cartwright Hotel is a short walk from Aynhoe Park from 100 per night per room There are private Bed and Breakfasts in the village have a look online. DEDDINGTON VILLAGE We will be able to drop/collect participants in the coach from/to Deddington. NEAR AYNHO (within 2 kilometres): Great Western Arms, , from 60 The area has lots of Bed and Breakfasts have a look online and search around Aynho or Banbury. BANBURY (15 minutes from Aynho by car) Banbury is a modern town around the historic core. There are many hotels, including: You will find accommodation from basic to mid-range including Holiday Inn, Best Western, Banbury House Hotel, Mercure Banbury try for the lowest rates, from around 50 per room per night. BRACKLEY (15 minutes from Aynho by car) The Crown Hotel has reasonably priced rooms from 45 per night.

13 Travel Arriving from around the EU: AIR: If flying to London, you should use London Heathrow as it is on the same side of London as our conference. It is equally convenient to fly to Birmingham International which has direct train links to our start and end points, but there are fewer flights. TRAIN: Or you could take the Eurostar from Brussels or Paris to London St Pancras. Getting to the venue: CAR: Hiring a car is probably the cheapest option try (circa 40 for three days) and it offers flexibility when booking accommodation. CAR SHARING: Consider travelling with others and save by sharing a car. If you would like us to try and pair you with a driver, please let us know as soon as possible. TRAIN: Take a train to Banbury (for Broughton Castle on Friday), or Kings Sutton (for Aynho Saturday). Check for details and to book in advance to save on the fare because UK trains can be costly. (A taxi from Kings Sutton to Aynhoe Park would cost no more than 10. Book here: to secure a good price) During the visits: You can either choose to drive, or join the group coach. Just let us know on the booking form. Departing: After the final visit, the coach will call at Oxford rail station (around 4pm) which offers direct trains to London and Birmingham Airport. If there is sufficient demand, we may extend the coach to London Heathrow. In summary I would suggest you fly to London Heathrow and hire a car. Failing that, fly into Heathrow or Birmingham, take the train to Banbury then join the coach for the visits, and fly home from either Heathrow or Birmingham. Confused?
