1 The Scottish Region 2014 Annual General Meeting The AGM of the Scottish Caravan Club will once again be held in The Dewar s Business, Events and Sport Centre, Perth PH2 0TH at 2pm on Saturday 11th October A rally is being organised at Noah s Ark Caravan Park, Newhouse Farm, Perth PH1 1OE. March 2014 A number of Club staff will be on hand to answer questions about The Club s services and other caravan-related subjects. This informal event is designed to help you get must out of your Club. In addition, a varied range of events takes place nationwide throughout the year, organised by local groups of members (called Centres) for the benefit of other members. Held in a variety of attractive locations, these value-for-money activities cater for all sorts of interests and are an excellent way of visiting new places and making new friends. You will need to be self-sufficient, rely on your on-board toilet and shower facilities and use gas for the fridge and heating. Do take a look at the choice of specially selected events. Featured events selected by Centres in our Region Edinburgh International Festival 1 25 August 2014 Dalkeith Country Park. Hosted by East Scotland Centre This site has been organized to accommodate those wishing for somewhere to stay during the Festival and Fringe. The park is ideal for all, with a huge area to explore; a handy tearoom and wildlife all around, you can even see deer. Buses to town leave from just outside the park gates or at the near by park and ride. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on leads and can be looked after by the team, if you re away all day. Own sanitation is essential, water and elsan disposal are available as well as battery charging. Local facilities include golf, swimming, fishing, nature walks and a number of local shops, pubs and hotels. As well as historical places to visit such as Balmoral Castle, are within an easy drive.

The main street is within easy walking distance from the field and can be reached via private roads within the estate. Local facilities include golf, swimming, fishing, nature walks and a number of local shops, pubs and hotels. As well as historical places to visit such as Balmoral Castle, are within an easy drive. Just outside the village is a glider airfield and on a good day you can enjoy the aerial displays from a purpose built parking area. Further afield the Cairngorms National Park offers unrivalled access to nature, including hill walking and wildlife watching. The North Centre will be putting on a Saturday dinner dance on site so no need to worry about transportation and you can bring your own drinks with you. On the Sunday a Church Service in the morning will be held and in the afternoon an inter centre sports programme. In the evening at Ceilidh in Coo Cathedral, light entertainment will be provided from the North Centre. On the Monday there is a bus trip going to Balmoral Estate. 4 Halkirk July 2014 Halkirk in Caithness. Every summer, on the last Saturday in July, up to 5,000 visitors and locals flock to the village of Halkirk in Caithness for a day of traditional and spectacular Scottish sport. They are guaranteed to be enthralled in watching over 100 competitors, many being national or world champions, challenging each other for various championship titles. The immensely strong Highland heavyweight athletes, light footed Highland dancers, traditional Scottish pipers, fast runners, nimble jumpers, courageous cyclists, accurate clay pigeon shooters, excited children and even bonnie babies, all compete in around 100 events to produce a memorable afternoon. Portsoy Boat Festival June 2014 Portsoy. We are arranging a temporary venue to coincide with the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival at Portsoy. The site is at Arnbath Farm, Portsoy, with a magnificent view over the Moray Firth is the Year of Homecoming and where better to celebrate than, in Portsoy, on the Moray Firth Coast, which has recently been listed as one of National Geographic s top coastal destinations. The 21st annual Scottish Traditional Boat Festival promises plenty of attractions for everyone and strives to showcase the best in Scotland s maritime and cultural heritage, craft demonstrations, mouthwatering food and drink and non-stop music and dance. 5 Pittenween Art Festival 2 10 August 2014 Monturpie. Hosted by Fife / Tay Centre Free entry to all exhibitions 10am - 5pm daily Pittenweem currently has around 30 artists resident in the village and many more in the surrounding chain of small fishing villages set along the lovely East Neuk coastline. The festival hosts an exciting mixture of wellestablished invited artists, newcomers and resident artists, who exhibit in homes, studios, galleries and public spaces throughout the village and its environs. Frank Hailstones Tel: or Rhynie Gala August 2014 Hosted by North Scotland Centre A rally is being organized to coincide with The Rhynie Gala. The Gala is on Saturday 16th August. Rhynie Gala is a typical local village Gala, normally starting on Friday evening with a disco in the marquee. Various events take place on Saturday with a hill race up Tap o Noth, a Pipe Bank display. Highland Dancing, various stalls and a barbeque. Hosted by South West Centre Scotland The Marymass Festival at Irvine Ayrshire is organized by the Irvine Carters Society. It is always held on the 3rd Saturday after the 1st Monday in August. It is steeped in local history, retaining many ancient traditions dating back to the Middle Ages. Together with rich pageantry and a modern twist the Marymass Festival has something on offer for the entire family to enjoy. 6 Borders Vintage, Veteran, Classic & Steam Rally September 2014 Selkirk. Hosted by East Scotland Centre This big event gives spectators the opportunity to get close to the working displays of vintage and veteran vehicles, steam engines and many modern classics. There will also be arena displays, a craft marquee, food outlets, a number of autojumble stalls and evening entertainment on the Saturday. The rally field is adjacent to the Show and the price includes caravan parking and entry to the Show over the weekend. Ian Bennett Tel: or Vintage Vehicle Event 28 September 2014 Roseisle. Laigh o Moray Vintage Association runs this event every year to raise money for various children s and other charities in Scotland. The members display well over 250 vintage and classic vehicles, HGV s, tractors, steam engines and motorbikes. All kept in pristine condition by their proud owners. The event is well worth a visit for all the family and especially those that remember their 1st car. There are stalls to browse, burger bars, steak bars, tea and coffee stands, sweet stands and of course chips and ice cream to enjoy.
