1 Unique local Destinations Knobels Knobels is America s largest free admission amusement park. Located just outside of Elysburg Knobels offers rides and entertainment for all ages. It is also host to an annual flyin and a 5k run. Website: Whitenights Farmer s Market Burkholders Whitenights is a local family-owned farm market. They have an array of products from produce to baked goods to decorations. Special events include PA tractor day, numerous chicken barbeques, and October s Pumpkinville. They also have a variety of vegan, gluten free, and low sugar baked goods. Also features a variety of local musical performances. Hiking A family run Thai restaurant. It requires the purchase of a lifetime membership for $1, and members can have an unlimited number of guests. Website: Hess Field Rail Trail Run by the Montour Area Recreation Commission, Hess offers an outer and inner hiking loop that are relatively flat, fishing stream, sports fields, wildlife observation blind, meditation pavillions and a skate park. It s also home to several local races. Website: Geisinger Stewardship Trails The Geisinger stewardship trails offer miles of trails for hiking, biking and running. The terrain is relatively hilly and rocky. Facebook: Montour Preserve Owned by the Pennsylvania Power and Light company (PP&L) Montour Preserve features a 4.5 mile trail around Lake Chillisquaque. 4 ! State Parks well as a nature learning center and boat launch. Please be advised no pets or bikes are allowed on the trails. Website: There are numerous state parks in the area offering hiking, swimming, camping, boat rentals, etc. Notable sites include Rickets Glenn with the falls trail, Hickory Run with boulder s field, and seven tubs nature preserve with stone tubs carved our from the water flow. Website: index.htm Buffalo Valley Rail Trail Local Events Running from Lewisburg to Mifflinburg the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail offers over 9 miles of trails with various stop offs including the Lewisburg library and the Purple Cow creamery. The start is near the Lewisburg Area Recreational Park that offers multiple playgrounds, a pool, climbing rocks, and a skateboard. 5 Other attractions Lake Tobias T&D Cats Lakes Tobias has several hundred acres of land, most of which is used to house various deer, elk, cattle, buffalo, etc. There are safari rides in cut off buses to feed the animals. There is also a zoo, petting zoo, reptile building with regular shows, and a diner that serves the regular burgers, chicken tenders and fries as well as elk burgers and bison burgers. Website: This is an educational zoo filled with mostly rescue animals. All fees and proceeds from the gift shop go to the care of the animals. There are guided tours on weekdays and open self-tours on weekends. Website: Claws and Paws Daycares Located in the woods in the poconos Claws and Paws is a small zoo with a varitye of animals. It also includes an educational show, dinosaur dig, aviary where you can feed birds and scheduled times to feed a giraffe.
