All garage tenants are required to pay the rent by Direct Debit, one month in advance. An occupier of privately owned property can only be granted a garage tenancy if there is no Council tenant / leaseholder willing to take the tenancy If a tenant or leaseholder rents a garage outside the reasonable proximity rule, VAT is chargeable. Reasonable proximity dwelling and garages being on the same estate and within easy walking distance.
