1. Colombia marine market 2. Players 3. Infrastructure 4. Ports 5. Products 6. Other key issues
Products The products in Colombia are: HS Marine Diesel Ultra low suplhur diesel-ecopetrol diesel-current LS Marine Diesel IFO 30, 60,120, 180, 380, 500, 700 HS IFO 180, 380 and 500 LS The marine diesel is manufactured by Ecopetrol and other small private refineries produce the LS. The IFOS are directly produced by each player in their facilities using different raw materials being the most common Rubiales Jazmin, Moriche, Caño Sur, Cocorna crudes and refinery based products as light and heavy fuel oils.
1. Colombia marine market 2. Players 3. Infrastructure 4. Ports 5. Products 6. Other key issues
Other key issues In Colombia there are currently 8 consolidated port zones such as: Buenaventura Port Area Cartagena port area Barranquilla Port Area Santa Marta port area Tumaco Port Area Morrosquillo Gulf Port area Guajira port areas Turbo Port Zone Being the largest and most important Cartagena that has more than 54 terminals, 18 of them engaged in international trade
Other key Issues However Colombia continue developing projects and concessions in ports, new liquid storage terminals on the Atlantic coast in Barranquilla and Cartagena which meant an increase in traffic port. The Government aims to increase port capacity by 70% through the expansion of existing ports, port construction and public service dredging access channels. The port of Cartagena has a transshipment port for all the Caribbean triangle. International prices for crude exports are more attractive for manufacturers than leaving the product in Colombia for blending bunkers.
Other key issues Bunker market shall move for a feedstock portfolio based on refining fuel oil instead of crudes. An alternative supply based on imports should be considered similar to Panama. All activity on fuel supplies in Colombia is regulated by the Mines and Energy Ministry. The bunker market is expected to increase with international traffic according to the free trade agreements that have been signed. There are new bunkers supply companies entering the market.
