3 an Riviera Playa del Carmen, Mexico Course Objectives This course will focus on applications of CT, MR, Ultrasound and PET imaging for diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions in the abdominal, thoracic and neurological systems. Lecture content will be expanded to discuss the growing utility of MDCT, HRCT and CTA/MRA in the clinical setting. Both common and infrequent diseases/conditions will be reviewed and diagnosed from case-based formats. Course participants will also be introduced to a foundation of knowledge in the evolving role of PET and PET-CT in the clinical setting, and will be challenged to examine their own use of PET/PET-CT in the clinic, to think about PET imaging in new contexts, and to integrate quantitative methods for diagnosis and follow-up into their own practices. In addition, attention will be given to practical interventional procedures and techniques for which the practicing radiologist is likely to be consulted. At the completion of this course the registrants should have knowledge of: uses of CT/MRI in imaging of the cardio-pulmonary system, including use of MDCT and MRA, in the diagnosis of prevalent and common cardiovascular diseases; methods for optimizing CT/MRI in both the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems; diagnostic imaging features and image-guided related therapies in common neurological conditions; knowledge of the AIUM sonography guidelines, and an understanding of the utility and evaluation of the use of sonography in clinically relevant ob-gyn conditions; introduction of PET/CT to the clinical setting, and methods for implementation and patient monitoring; practical knowledge of frequent and emerging interventional procedures/techniques represented by recent clinical cases.

6 The Mayan Riviera Stretching from Punta Brava (just south of Cancun International Airport) to Punta Allen (just south of Tulum) exists one of the most fascinating destinations in the world. The weather is a comfortable year-round average of 80 degrees Farenheit. MONEY: Mexican money is the peso. It floats against the dollar and can be exchanged at banks and change booths. American dollars are accepted almost everywhere, except in remote areas, at a variable exchange rate. Credit cards are widely accepted. PEOPLE: The population of the Yucatan is a combination of Mayan and Spanish/Indian mestizos. VISA: No visas are required, but Tourist Cards are. Arriving by airline your Tourist Card fee will be charged in the cost of your fare and it will be given to you to fill out prior to landing in Cancun. We recommend you travel with a current passport but if this is not possible a birth certificate and a current photo ID will be accepted. ELECTRICITY: 110 volts. Same as U.S. TIME ZONES: The Yucatan and Mexico observe Central Standard Time all year. HEALTH & SAFETY: No shots are required. Most hotels and restaurants offer purified tap water, but bottled water is widely available. Qualified English-speaking doctors are available for health emergencies. Crime in the Yucatan is limited to a rare pick-pocketing or overcharging for drinks. Use common sense.
