Occupying the grand African Banking Corporation Building which was built in 1894 later becoming home to the Standard Bank in 1927, underwent meticulous restoration to preserve the heritage of this landmark building while introducing the latest technologies and conveniences. Cathedral The Cathedral room measures 62 sqm and overlooks Wale Street and St. George s Cathedral. The room boasts the original high ceilings and natural light. This is the perfect setting for conferences up to 30 guests classroom style or cocktail events for up to 50 guests. Taj Boardroom The Boardroom measures 40 sqm and features the original brass hinged window frame that looks out onto Wale Street, St. George s Cathedral and Government Avenue. As the main Boardroom, it is equipped with an elegant maple wood table that can accommodate up to 12 executives. Wale This is the smallest meeting room of 20 sqm and can be utilised as a small boardroom for 8 guests or breakaway sessions. Founders The Founders room measures 65 sqm and has preserved many of the original features dating back to the late 1800 s, including the fireplace and wooden paneling. This is a supreme venue to host cinema style events of up to 50 guests. Parliament Measuring 50 sqm, this corner room overlooks the Houses of Parliament and Government Avenue with Table Mountain as a backdrop. This venue can be utilized for large boardroom setups or an intimate dining experience for up to 18 guests. Double doors inter-lead into Adderley room which can be used as a break-away or tea & coffee station. Adderley This historic corner room is 32 sqm and overlooks the Ou Kerk (Old Church), Slave Lodge and Adderley Street. This venue is suited for a small boardroom setup of 12 guests or perfect as a breakaway or tea & coffee station for the adjacent Parliament room. The Reserve at Taj Cape Town - ABC Building ABC Bar The imposing bronze doors from St Georges Mall lead into the 82 sqm ABC Bar, where guests will be surrounded by high ceilings and hand painted murals. This area can be used as a breakaway area or to welcome up to 50 guest with canapés and aperitifs before proceeding through to their main event. The Bank Hall The original grand Bank Hall allows for a variety of event formats within its marble interior and high ceilings. A total of 422 sqm on the ground floor can host up to 400 guests in a lavish cocktail event, or up to 220 seated guests at a glamorous banquet. The venue can be optimised for events to cater for up to 300 cinema seated guests, or up to 170 guests seated in a school room style. Furthermore, the Bank Hall can be sub divided into three separate spaces to cater for smaller parties or different streams of events. The Vault Built in the 1920 s as a walk-in Bank vault for the African Banking Corporation, this unique 157 sqm venue serves as a multi-function space. The Vault can be used as a stand-alone venue for many different extraordinary events and can host up to 80 guests in an intimate cocktail setting. Still displaying the original colossal safe-door and a wrap around wine cellar with over bottles is accessible via a winding staircase or one of the oldest open cage elevators in South Africa. The Chairmans Office This is the original bank Manager s office with its original teak panels and a charming fireplace, is a perfect Cigar Lounge or breakaway room.
