General Travel Information Geography The US state of Hawai i is in the Pacific Ocean. The six main islands are Oahu, Maui, Kauai, the Big Island (Hawai i), Molokai and Lanai. The most well-known island, Oahu, is home to Hawai i s capital Honolulu and Honolulu International Airport and is the favoured destination by most tourists visiting Hawai i. Currency and Banks: The US Dollar is the only accepted currency. Traveller s cheques are best carried in US Dollars, but other major currencies can be exchanged at larger banks and the international airport.major credit cards are widely accepted by most establishments and ATMs are widespread. Tipping: It is customary to tip for all services % is an acceptable amount for service at bars and restaurants, while $1 per bag is the usual gratuity for porterage and $1 per night for housekeeping. Dress Standards: A light, tropical wardrobe of loose fitting, comfortable clothing is best, with a sun hat, sunglasses and sun cream essential. Shopping: Hawai i and, in particular, the island of Oahu is world renowned as one of the best places to shop. The best advice, when holidaying in Hawai i is to pack light because you will have plenty to bring home with you. Passport and Visas: All visitors require a valid machine readable passport and return airline ticket. Australian passport holders currently do not require a visa to visit the USA providing their stay does not exceed 90 days. However Australian Passport Holders are required to obtain a travel authorization prior to initiating travel to the United States. Authorization may be obtained online through the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation, administered by the Department of Homeland Security. 6 Honolulu Island of Oahu Waikiki 40 Oahu is the most well-known, developed and populated of all the Hawaiian Islands. Its atmosphere is a blend of Western, Asian and Polynesian influences. INSURANCE: CDW (Collision Damage Waiver): Contractually waives or limits the renter s liability for damage to or loss of the vehicle. CPP (Carefree Personal Protection) - optional coverage is available for approx US$7.95 per day. CPP provides emergency medical care and transportation for the renter via a 24-hour toll-free telephone number. It also includes help with replacing lost or stolen travel documents, filing claims and much more. EP (Extended Protection): Provides the renter and authorised drivers US$1 million liability and $100,000 uninsured motorist benefits. Rate does not include: Additional driver charges, fuel, GPS, infant seat charges and surcharges for drivers under 25 years, which are payable locally by the customer. Holidays bookings. Suppliers: Viva! Holidays is not itself a transport, tour, event or accommodation provider. In making your travel arrangements we act only as an agent for the airlines, hotels, tour operators and other suppliers who supply those services. You should obtain and read the applicable supplier s terms and conditions as they may limit or exclude their liability to you. How to book: Contact your licensed AFTA travel consultant, who will be responsible for managing your booking and forwarding your payment to us. You will be deemed to have accepted these conditions on behalf of everyone named in your booking. Please note that all requests for bookings are subject to availability. Booking fee: Your travel agency may apply a booking fee in addition to the price of your holiday package. Please check at the time of booking. Payment: A non-refundable deposit is payable within seven days of confirmation of your booking: domestic (within Australia) $55 per person international $165 per person plus any additional deposit required by suppliers (you will be notified at the time of booking) Payment of the balance in full is required at least 30 days before the scheduled commencement of your holiday (or earlier if specified for the particular package). For Singapore & Malaysia Thailand bookings made within this period, full payment is required at the time of booking. If you have not paid by the due date, we may cancel your booking and retain your deposit. Cancellations: If you cancel your booking, the amount of your deposit will not be refunded, including deposits required by suppliers. If you have paid the balance of your holiday price, suppliers may also impose cancellation fees amounting to all or part of the total price paid. Once your holiday has commenced, you cannot cancel or obtain a refund on any component of your booking regardless of whether you use it. Changes by you: If you change your holiday package and your documents need to be reissued, a change fee is payable at the time of the change: domestic (within Australia) $27 international $25 plus any cancellation / change fee imposed by suppliers for any component you cancel. Unforseen changes: If we have to change any part of your booking, for example, if an airline changes its schedules or your chosen accommodation is no longer available, or if there is an increase in the price due to additional taxes or supplier charges, we will notify you. You will have the option of cancelling your booking, in which case we will refund the amount you have paid, less any cancellation fees imposed by other suppliers.
