1 Reservations: T: E: CALENDAR The French Table at Chateau Bosgouet 2018 May 1 8, June 6 13, July Days / 7 Nights In 2005 Jane and her Family moved to a grand chateau in the Normandy countryside. There they created a new life for two years. The children attended local schools and their life changed forever. Chateau Bosgouet is one of the most beautiful Chateaux in France. Ideally located 1 hour from Paris and with easy connections to London, south of France and the stunning Norman coast line. Surrounded by History, it s nestled amongst 50 beautiful acres with 300 year old trees, this Napoleon III chateau provides a wonderful environment for summer visits and experiences Jane s hospitality and knowledge of the region and local foods both at the markets and in Michelin star restaurants. 2 Itinerary: Day One 4.00pm: Pick up from Hotel Relais Christine in Paris Champagne afternoon tea at Chateau Bosgouet Dinner: Chateau Bosgouet Day Two Chateau Bosgouet style - Fresh fruit, yoghurt, Bircher muesli, croissant, artisan breads, homemade preserves, eggs, house roasted coffee, teas, freshly squeezed orange juice. 9.30am: Rouen With its soaring Gothic cathedral, beautifully restored medieval quarter, excellent museums and vibrant cultural life, Rouen is one of Normandy s most engaging destinations. The city has had a turbulent history. It was devastated by fire and plague several times during the Middle Ages, and was occupied by the English during the Hundred Years War. The young French heroine Joan of Arc (Jeanne d Arc) was tried for heresy and burned at the stake in the central square in And during WWII, Allied bombing raids laid waste to large parts of the city, especially south of the cathedral. This morning we will take a leisurely walking tour of the city. Luncheon: La Couronne La Couronne sits on Old Market Square in Rouen, a stone s throw from the spot where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in Founded in 1345 as an inn, it is billed by the current owners as the oldest auberge in France. After lunch there is free time to return to places of interest. Late afternoon return to Chateau Bosgouet. Dinner: Chateau Bosgouet Day Three 9.30am: Deauville With its race course, harbour, international film festival, marinas, Conference centre, villas, Grand Casino and sumptuous hotels, Deauville is regarded as the "queen of the Norman beaches" and one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in all of France. As the closest seaside resort to Paris; Deauville and its region of the Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) has long been home to French high society's seaside houses and is often referred to as the Parisian Riviera. Since the 19th century, the town has been a fashionable holiday resort. Deauville is also a desirable family resort for the

3 wealthy. In France, it is known perhaps above all for its role in Proust's In Search of Lost Time. Today, it is market day at Deauville where we will purchase seasonal produce for this afternoons cooking demonstration. Luncheon: Wonderful Deauville institution After lunch we will visit a calvados farm on route back to Chateau Bosgouet for a tour and degustation. Cooking Class One: Using the best seasonal produce both from our Potager and local farmers markets our cooking demonstration will culminate in a beautifully balanced 4 course dinner in the Chateau Bosgouet dining room. As with all meals during The French Table experience wonderful wines are matched with each course - all from our own extensive cellar. Day Four 9.30am: Honfleur Honfleur is a commune in the Calvados department in northwestern France. It is located on the southern bank of the estuary of the Seine across from le Havre and very close to the exit of the Pont de Normandie. Its inhabitants are called Honfleurais. It is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind, forming the école de Honfleur (Honfleur school) which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement. The Sainte- Catherine church, which has a bell tower separate from the principal building, is the largest church made out of wood in France. Luncheon: Two Michelin star Sa Qua Na Late afternoon return to Chateau Bosgouet. Supper menu tonight. Day Five 9.30am: Le Bec Hellouin It is best known for Bec Abbey and has recently been voted one of the "most beautiful villages of France". Bec Abbey was founded in 1034 by Herluin, who was a knight at the court of Brionne and a Benedictine. Near to the abbey, in the village, the church, dedicated to Saint-André, was built in The original church burned down in It was rebuilt but damaged during the Hundred Years' War (1417). The nave and the bell tower were reconstructed in the 18th century. Luncheon: Locally Afternoon return to Chateau Bosgouet. Cooking Class Two Dinner: Chateau Bosgouet Dining room Day Six

4 9.30am: Etretat Étretat is best known for its cliffs, including three natural arches and the pointed "needle". These cliffs and the associated resort beach attracted artists including Eugène Boudin, Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet, and were featured prominently in the 1909 Arsène Lupin novel The Hollow Needle by Maurice Leblanc. Two of the three famous arches are seen from the town, the Porte d'aval, and the Porte d'amont. The Manneporte is the third and the biggest one, and cannot be seen from the town. Afternoon return to Chateau Bosgouet Dinner: Local restaurant Day Seven 9.30am: Giverny Claude Monet noticed the village of Giverny while looking out of a train window. He made up his mind to move there and rented a house and the area surrounding it. In 1890 he had enough money to buy the house and land outright and set out to create the magnificent gardens he wanted to paint. Some of his most famous paintings were of his garden in Giverny, famous for its rectangular Clos normand, with archways of climbing plants entwined around colored shrubs, and the water garden, formed by a tributary to the Epte, with the Japanese bridge, the pond with the water lily, the wisterias and the azaleas. Luncheon: Giverny Afternoon we return to Bosgouet. 5 Jane Webster: Jane has a real attachment to the earth and it s wonderful produce. Preferring to scour the fresh produce markets wherever she is, she has long recognised the "return to basics" of many people in today s time of supermarkets and processed food. This flows into her choice of recipes and wine. The organic farming movement along with the AOC -appellation origine controlee of France has fascinated Jane. Jane has embraced the concept of terroir and seasonal produce. For a select few weeks of the year Jane opens her family chateau for discerning travelers to stay for a week. During that week you will dine with Jane and accompany her on her trips to markets, restaurants and the wonders of beautiful Historic Normandy. She resides in Melbourne with her husband and two daughters.
