The daa are harmonized in accordance wih he European Sysem of negraed Social Proecion Saisics (ESSPROS). No resuls for Greece are ye available. Wih regard o he las wo adheren counries - harmonisaion of he Spanish daa is in he process of compleion; - harmonisaion of he Porugese daa has been compleed; daa for hree years (-), already available, appear in he ables. should be noed ha - amouns relaing o he las published year as well as some of hose relaing o preceding years should be considered as provisional; - ha he saisics do no cover capial ransacions (see Bullein no.3-) nor fiscal benefis. Finally, compared wih saisics published previously which included cerain series calculaed in ECU, i will be observed ha when amouns are expressed in common unis, use has in all cases been made of he PPS (=purchasing power sandards).for a brief mehodological commen on he subjec see "Naional Accouns - ESA - Aggregaes EUROSTAT 986". N.B. Following a horough analysis of he ypes of benefis conained in cerain funcions, correcions will be made o mos of he series in Table 7. The size of he changes can already be judged for he Unemploymen funcion where he resuls published here can be compared wih he - mehodologically beer - daa which appeared in no. 2, (Table 2) of he Bullein. These improvemens will be incorporaed laer in connecion wih a general revision, o ensure ha users of social proecion saisics will coninue o have available he mos homogeneous possible series unil he work on improving all he daa is complee.
