3 Bovec, Čezsoča Bovec is the area of the upper SoËa Valley, nestled deep in the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park. The main attraction of the area is the emerald SoËa river, one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, and it is no coincidence that the Disney fairy tale The Chronicles of Narnia was shot at this location. The Bovec area is a treasure trove of natural beauty, dazzling alpine peaks, friendly valleys, numerous clear rivulets and streams, gorges, and waterfalls. In Slovenia and the wider cross border area, Bovec is the main centre of outdoor activities. The possibilities are endless: water adventures (kayaking, rafting, fishing), hiking and biking, zip line, paragliding and aviation, climbing and mountaineering; and in the winter: skiing, cross country skiing, sledding and snowshoeing. 4 Attractions and thematic trails Triglavski narodni park TRIGLAV NATIONAL PARK The only national park in Kanin TRENTA LODGE Trenta Museum and Information Centre of Slovenia, the paradise of unspoiled nature, boasts natural attractions and the peaks of the Julian Alps, among which reigns Triglav (2,864 m), the highest Slovenian mountain. Triglav National Park represent the cultural landscape, the nature and the history of life in Trenta. Amiable guides will conjure a special experience with their stories. UP TO KANIN WITH A CABLE CAR A circular cable MANGART SADDLE The road that leads to the Mangart car takes us to a height of 2,202 metres, where you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. The final stop of the cable car station is the perfect starting point for tours to the surrounding peaks and for exploring the Karst highland. Saddle and the vantage point at Belopeško Jezero Lake under the northern slope of the mountain is the highest mountain road in Slovenia. The Saddle is the starting point of Mangart Mountain Trail and a popular paragliding launch point. SOURCE OF THE SO A RIVER One of the most beautiful natural sites on the SoËa river and an important natural treasure of the Triglav National Park. 5 booking: Mangart Prestreljeniško okno KRN LAKE The largest Slovenian alpine lake is located at an altitude of 1,391 metres. It is 400 metres long and up to 17 metres deep. The lake almost completely floods the basin at the foot of Krn, which can be admired right from the lake shore. An easy hiking trail from Lepena leads to the lake. BOKA WATERFALL Numerous waterfalls are popular destinations in all seasons. The mightiest is Boka Waterfall, which is the largest Slovenian waterfall and decreases 144 metres in depth; smaller, but even more scenic is Virje waterfall near the village of Pluæna. The area of Log pod Mangartom, particularly rich with water and waterfalls, is rightly called a valley of a hundred waterfalls. In this area, Fratarca, Predelica, Gorejca, NemËlja, and many other waterfalls are hidden in the slopes. THEMATIC TRAILS SoËa Trail: The SoËa Trail is a park trail that runs along the SoËa river from its source to Bovec. It connects peaceful, mysterious parts of the Trenta and SoËa valleys. Particularly interesting are picturesque hanging footbridges. A walk along the SoËa Trail and a visit to the Trenta Lodge Information Centre offer an adventurous discovery of the Triglav National Park. Alpe Adria: Alpe Adria Trail connects the three regions with a total of 43 stages: Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli - Venezia Giulia. Alpe Adria Trail leads visitors to the SoËa valley from Kranjska Gora across VrπiË and through Trenta to Bovec and past Log ezsoπki to Dre nica. The Walk of Peace: The Walk of Peace connects areas, people and the rich cultural and natural heritage along the former Isonzo Front. The most interesting open-air museums in Bovec are found in Log pod Mangartom, on Ravelnik and elo. Prestreljeniπki podi: The trail starts at the final station of the Kanin cable car. A permit is required for the use of the above-mentioned entry/exit points. Camping is only permitted in the designated campsites. Part of the trail goes along the Via Alpina path (from the Koča pri izviru Soče lodge to the Vršič pass). Each lodge can be the endpoint of a separate tour, or they can be easily combined for longer tours. They are also great starting points for climbing or hiking tours of different difficulty levels.
