No.: G MICA (P) 004/06/2006 September - October 2006 Delivery of FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV 14 FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV 14 sets off for Brazil s Espadarte Sul field after completing her conversion. Jurong Shipyard has successfully delivered the FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV 14 on October 8, 2006 to MODEC International LLC, a Houstonbased oil and energy company wholly owned by MODEC Inc of Japan. The shipyard was contracted by MODEC International to convert the 264,148 dwt Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Bright Jewel into a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for Brazil's national oil and energy company Petrobras S.A., which owns the FPSO. The yard s twelfth conversion for the MODEC Group, the project involved the marine hull conversion, life extension, as well as installation and integration of topside process facilities, including oil, gas and water processing modules. The yard also installed a flare tower, helideck, piping system, and two sets of offloading hose-reel at the vessel s bow and stern. Working in close partnership with its project partners, Jurong Shipyard achieved an impressive 2.8 million manhours without lost-time injuries over a period of 14 months a clear testimony of the yard s unwavering commitment to high safety and quality standards. FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV 14 has a production capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day, a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels of oil, a gas compression capacity of 87 mmscfd, and water injection capabilities of 113,200 The FPSO under conversion from the VLCC Bright Jewel. barrels of water per day, with accommodation for a maximum capacity of 100 persons. Following its delivery, it will be leased and operated by MODEC for deployment on the 1- RJS-409/4-RJS-415 areas of Espadarte Sul field in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil. Equipped with 34 risers and umbilicals, the FPSO is planned for installation in 1,350 meters water depth via a spread mooring system that is supported by 18 anchor piles into the seabed.

2 Yard News Drydocking repairs for Aker Smart 3, a 180,377 dwt tanker belonging to Norwegian shipowner Aktieselskabet Borgestad ASA, set sail from Jurong Shipyard in mid October The vessel, which measures 330m x 59m x 29.7m, called at the yard for drydocking as well as hull and machinery repairs. Major aspects of the job included steel works in tanks, installation of tank gauging system, as well as overhaul of Aker Smart 3 Aker Smart 3 berthed along the quayside. 3 Steering the Alliance Key team members from Chevron Shipping and Jurong Shipyard convened for three fruitful days from October 17 to 19, 2006 to discuss strategic action plans to steer the Chevron-Jurong alliance towards continued progress and excellence. Jurong Shipyard celebrated the christening of FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV 14 amid much festivity and cheer on September 2, 2006, together with its project partners from MODEC and Petrobras. FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV 14, the yard s twelfth offshore conversion project for the MODEC Group, was christened by Lady Sponsor Mrs Cristina Lucia Duarte Pinho, General Manager (Engineering Production) of Brazil s Petrobras S.A, which owns the vessel. The significant event was also graced by distinguished guests including Mr José Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo, President of Petrobras, and Mr Shashank V. Karve, President and CEO of MODEC International LLC, which contracted the conversion project to Jurong Shipyard. Together with the yard s management and staff, the VIPs bore witness to the auspicious occasion, which featured a Cai Qing acrobatic lion dance performance and a champagne breaking sequence to herald good luck, smooth operation and production success for the FPSO. In his address, MODEC International s President and CEO Mr Shashank V. Karve described the Delighting in the festive atmosphere. Mr Wong also noted the yard s close partnership with Petrobras in the conversion of 11 Petrobras vessels, ranging from FPSO, FSOs, FSOs, FPUs to shuttle tankers, all of which are operating very successfully in Brazil. This long-lasting relationship is only possible through mutual trust and understanding across both management and worker levels. 6 Feature Delivery and Naming of Wan Hai 315, the fifth of a series of eight newbuild 2,646 TEU container vessels under construction in Jurong Shipyard, was successfully delivered to Taiwan s leading containership operator Wan Hai Lines, on September 11, Prior to her delivery, Wan Hai 315 was christened by Lady Sponsor Mrs Grace Fu, Minister of State for National Development, in a ceremony on September 1, The event was attended by Wan Hai Lines Chairman Mr Chen Chao-Hon, Mr Tan Chin Hee, Pacific Carriers Executive Director Mr Tan Chin Hee and Jurong Shipyard s management and staff. During his speech, Wan Hai Lines Chairman Mr Chen Chao-Hon commended Jurong Shipyard for its excellent co-operation in the newbuilding of Wan Hai 315, the fourth of six vessels on Wan Hai 315, Jurong Shipyard s fifth 2,646 TEU Jubilee Class containership. Equipped with 400 reefer containers, the vessel is able to accommodate 1,688 TEU on deck and 958 TEU in the hold. Its hull has also been optimised to minimise propeller-induced vibration for operational performance. With the successful sailaway of Wan Hai 315 on September 16, Jurong Shipyard is currently building three similar 2,646 TEU units, including two units for Wan Hai Lines and one unit for a German shipping company. 7 Around the Yards PPL Shipyard Secures US$155M Rig Building Contract PPL Shipyard, a subsidiary of SembCorp Marine, has secured a rig building contract worth US$155 million in October 2006 from Taiwan-based Offshore Group Corp for the construction of a Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 (BMC Pacific 375) Deep Drilling Offshore Jack-Up Rig. Construction of the jack-up rig is expected to commence in December 2006 with delivery scheduled in July The jack-up rig will be built based on PPL Shipyard s proprietary BMC Pacific 375 Deep Drilling design. The rig will be equipped with a drilling package that will enable it to drill high pressure and high temperature wells at 30,000 feet whilst operating in 375 feet of water. It has accommodation for 120 men. Mr Ong Tian Khiam, Managing Director of PPL Shipyard, said, The construction contract is an option that PPL Shipyard granted to Offshore Group Corp in 2005 and which the latter has now decided to exercise given the current buoyant offshore market conditions and the strong demand for such proven high performance and high-specification jack-up rigs. With the inclusion of this latest contract, PPL Shipyard has 10 units of new generation BMC Pacific 375 Deep Drilling jack-up rigs on order. During the year, two similarly designed jack-up units were delivered by the yard to owners from Norway. Sembawang Shipyard, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SembCorp Marine, has secured a S$30 million contract in October 2006 for the upgrading and reactivation of drillship, Neptune Explorer from Neptune Marine Oil & Gas Limited, a quality offshore drilling contractor based in Scotland. Neptune Explorer is expected to undergo 6 months of major upgrading and reactivation work in Sembawang Shipyard from end October Significant work scope contracted to the shipyard includes an estimated 1,700 tons of steel renewal, new installation, as well as The new generation BMC Pacific 375 jack-up rig will be built based on the design shown above. Conferred by the Securities Investors Association of Singapore (SIAS) during the Investors Choice Awards ceremony on September 22, 2006, the Most Transparent Company Award recognises public-listed companies from various industry categories for demonstrating excellence in corporate governance and exemplary disclosure practices in enhancing shareholder value. SembCorp Marine was one of four companies nominated to receive the award by a selection committee, comprising members from the mass media, investors, investment analysts, equity sales and asset management firms. JMA Bags Silver at Industry SIT Jurong Shipyard s subsidiary Jurong Machinery and Automation (JMA) bagged a Silver Award for their innovative invention the combination Earth Cable Stripper and Crimper at the marine industry Safety Innovation Teams (SIT) Convention organised by the Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) on September 27, The innovative invention, which speeds up the process of cable stripping and lug crimping, accelerates the mass production rate of earth cables by more than three times. Key highlights of the convention included a mini-exhibition, which showcased the innovative inventions developed by employees to improve workplace health and safety, as well as the launch of SembCorp Marine s Best Practice Manual a consolidation of the best practices in Health Safety and Environment (HSE) recommended for adoption by strategic business units. Presentations were also made to provide an overview of the existing safety and risk management systems in place. Mr Derrick Chin, Senior Manager of Jurong Shipyard s Safety and Fire Department, elaborated on the yard s Safety Performance and STAR Programme, which encourages and assists subcontractors in developing safety management system and action plans to achieve high HSE standards. SembCorp Marine s newly minted Risk Management procedures were also outlined by Mr Yang Yen Yoong, HSE Manager of PPL Shipyard. Introduced in line with MOM s Workplace Safety & Health (Risk Management) Regulations, effective on September 1, these procedures cover the identification, evaluation, control and communication of risks at the workplace. JMA Bags Silver at Industry SIT Jurong Shipyard s subsidiary Jurong Machinery and Automation (JMA) bagged a Silver Award for their innovative invention the combination Earth Cable Stripper and Crimper at the marine industry Safety Innovation Teams (SIT) Convention organised by the Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) on September 27, The innovative invention, which speeds up the process of cable stripping and lug crimping, accelerates the mass production rate of earth cables by more than three times. The device, adaptable for cables and lugs of different sizes, has pre-measured stoppers which ensure higher accuracy and standardisation. 12 Sporting Fun for Everyone Launch of National Healthy Lifestyle 2006 Employees from Jurong Shipyard showed their active support for Singapore s National Healthy Lifestyle 2006 by showing up at East Coast Park on Sunday, September 10, 2006, for the campaign s rousing launch. Besides mass workouts led by Deputy Prime Minister Mr Wong Kan Seng, the wide range of fun-filled activities available included in-line skating, inline hockey, skate boarding, cycling, kayaking, and beach volleyball. Children s Cancer Foundation Walk-a-Jog Jurong Shipyard staff marched for a worthy cause on September 3, 2006 in a 5km charity walk-a-jog around MacRitchie Reservoir to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for the Children s Cancer Foundation. Organised by SembCorp Utilities, the event successfully raised approximately $400,000 for the foundation. Showing their care and support. Health Happenings at Work Enzyme Nutrition Workshop The concept of enzyme nutrition was introduced to Jurong Shipyard s staff during a talk held on September 29, Participants were taught the benefits of maintaining a programme of enzyme consumption that had benefits such as unclogging debris that may have accumulated in the stomach and intestines, as well as detoxifying the blood. Individuals also had the option of having their blood condition analysed to ascertain their wellbeing and health. Participants having their blood samples analysed. Enhancing AIDS Awareness The Health Promotion Board s AIDSawareness roving exhibition made a oneweek stop at the corporate office cafeteria at the end of September. The unconventional exhibit showcased the dangers of AIDS and the preventive measures against the disease through interesting and thought-provoking displays. Talk on Hair Loss The topic of hair loss was discussed during a health talk conducted on September 15, An expert from Changi General Hospital spoke on the common types of hair loss experienced by both men and women, young and old. He also elaborated on the causes of hair loss, namely genes, hormones, stress, medical conditions and improper hair care. The humorous and engaging health talk left a memorable impression on the audience and more information on taking better care of their crowning glory. Discovering ways to prevent hair loss. 11
