2 Puerto Rico an Overview Over 500 years of history, culture and hospitality await you in Puerto Rico! Our beautiful island, although small in size, has a large variety of exciting venues, restaurants and tour possibilities that will delight the participants of this program. In addition to our world-class beaches that are great for sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing, guests can enjoy visiting the only rainforest under the US National Forest System. Furthermore, the island has three of the five year-round bioluminescent bays in the world, one of which is practically at the El Conquistador resort s back yard! Venues in historic buildings and in the foothills of the rainforest are some of the special places to enjoy group lunches or dinner events. In addition, San Juan has become an important culinary center in the Caribbean where several world-class chefs offer visitors delightful, first class cuisine. As a U.S. Commonwealth, your guests will enjoy the feeling of visiting an international destination, without ever leaving the comforts and security of home. Puerto Rico uses U.S. currency, US Postal Service and telephone systems, along with the same legal and medical rules and requirements. No passports or visas are required for U.S. citizens, which makes travel for US citizens to the island a breeze. Language: Spanish and English are the official languages. While Spanish is the dominant language, the majority of the local residents speak English so our stateside visitors feel very welcome as soon as they arrive. Weather: An agreeable climate is one of Puerto Rico's most attractive characteristics. Puerto Rico has a tropical marine climate, with an average annual temperature of 80 F (26 C) and enjoys year-round summer temperatures. We are on Atlantic Standard Time (AST), which is one hour later than Eastern Standard Time (EST). The island does not observe Daylight Savings Time. From March through May, visitors enjoy cool island breezes and beautiful starry nights. Sunset in April and May is between 6:30pm and 6:45pm. Currency: Your credit cards are accepted everywhere: American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and Traveler s Checks are accepted at featured hotels and most restaurants and shops. ATMs accepting U.S. bank and charge-cards are available in every city and most hotels. Getting Here: Puerto Rico is one of the easiest places to get to. San Juan serves as the main "hub" in the Caribbean! Part of the United States TSA security system, it s an outstanding airport with tight security. Puerto Rico airports handle domestic, US and international flights to and from the Island on a daily basis. Many flights are direct from the Midwest and Eastern United States (3-5 hours flight time). All major highway systems circling the island are in good condition. Following the story telling of history and legends that will allow guests to appreciate Old San Juan: Military City of Castles and Soldiers, guests will experience the contrast of Old and New, by enjoying a Trendy Local Dining Experience in Old San Juan at one of our many top notch restaurants. Or, maintaining the historical theme, we can progress to one of our many historic buildings in Old San Juan, such as the 16 th century restored Carmelite Convent (now a boutique hotel) or Casa España, a social club founded in 1913 when a group of Spaniards residing in Puerto Rico decided to create an institution that would offer all of the social, sporting, recreation and cultural functions that its members might wish in a colony. We can bring in a Flamenco show, bringing to life our Spanish heritage.

5 Day 3: Breakfast at Leisure Group Catamaran Day Sail to an Uninhabited Island - You will leave your hotel in the morning and head out towards the eastern tip of the island. At one of Puerto Rico's beautiful private marinas you will board one of our catamarans and set sail for a tranquil uninhabited isle for a day of relaxation and fun. Snorkel the crystal clear Caribbean waters and explore our uninhabited cays. Relax on pristine white sand beaches. Arrangements include a deluxe build-your-own sandwich buffet onboard; Rum Punches, Piňa Coladas and refreshments; snorkeling equipment with instruction from your crew; and round trip transportation from your hotel. For a truly incentive level memory, consider upgrading this quintessential Caribbean experience with a Beach BBQ at the island. Guests will enjoy Grilled Burgers and Hot Dogs, or BBQ Chicken and Steak, while on the beach. Activity enhancements can include kayaks, Hobie Cat, Stand Up Paddleboard, beach games and volleyball games. Evening: On Site Themed Dinner Function - we have many options available; one of my favorites is the Havana Club. The rich dark colors of the orange, amber, reds and brown give a sophisticated touch to any night, transporting guests back in time. A big band completes the evening.

7 Day 4: Breakfast at Leisure Choice of Activities. Dinner at a Horse Ranch Hacienda in the Foothills of the Rainforest - Sitting alone atop a high hill in the foothill region of the rainforest, overlooking the entire northeastern coast of Puerto Rico, and just a short drive from the San Juan or Fajardo area, and an even shorter from the Rio Grande resorts, one finds Hacienda Siesta Alegre, a beautiful Spanish Colonial Hacienda that belongs to a horse ranching baron. Your arrival at the Hacienda, passing traditional white painted horse corral fencing just before coming into a large clearing, is a promise of things to come as you follow the short torch-lit path up to the front entrance of the home. Cocktails on the lawn with views of El Yunque Rainforest in one direction, and the ocean in the other makes for a lasting first impression. The sun s soft rays shed their golden light on the rainforest s foliage as evening settles in and the sound of the Puerto Rican coquí frog chirps pleasantly. Dinner is served in the multiple terraces and tented areas off of the main courtyard, creating an intimate experience for all guests.

8 The home is quite open to let the soft evening breezes enter, and guests can take advantage of the pool table and open air living room in front of the fireplace. Make your guests really feel like they are an integral part of this evening by giving the men Panama hats or Puerto Rican Guayaberas, our traditional linen dress shirts, for them to wear, and the women shawls. A cigar roller, after dinner cordials, and perhaps even a high energy Latin Salsa Dance Show completes the evening in the country. 9 Activities, Excursions and Adventures One of Puerto Rico s most attractive qualities is its diversity of activities and excursions available for guests to enjoy. Listed herein are some of the more popular, authentic activities that truly represent Puerto Rico. If there are any activities that you are interested in that you do not see, please do let us know. We are also happy to arrange for your golf needs at one of our gorgeous championship golf courses, should the hotel you select not feature a golf course. Rainforest Tour with Nature Walk El Yunque is the 3500 peak within Puerto Rico s Caribbean National Forest. The rainforest, covering 28,000 acres, contains 75% of the virgin forests left in Puerto Rico. The entire area is a bird sanctuary and holds claim to being the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Thanks to receiving 100 billion gallons of rain per year, the forest is able to sustain some 250 species of trees, 50 types of ferns and as many as 20 varieties of wild orchids. In addition to the flora and fauna, El Yunque is also home to an array of Puerto Rican wildlife. Within the forest, there are many trees known to be over 1000 years old. There is the Tabonuco forest with trees reaching heights in excess of 100. The Colorado forest contains the short, gnarled trees with hollowed trunks. Sierra Palms with their unusual yet distinctive root systems grow in abundance, as do the huge tropical ferns (some ferns grow over 40 tall). There are also giant hardwoods and bamboo groves in this nature wonderland. Your visit includes a stop at Coca Falls, a visit to El Portal which is a beautiful visitor s center in the rainforest, a stop at Yokahú Tower which commands a view of the entire northeast coast of Puerto Rico, and a low impact walk along one of the nature trails where we will point out various phenomena of the rainforest, like the natural nest habitat for the almost extinct Puerto Rican Parrot. Rainforest Tour with La Mina Hike For the physically fit we offer an alternative to the previous tour of going down to La Mina Falls. This hike is approximately 45 minutes going downhill and a 55 minute hike return- all up hill. There is a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole at La Mina, so bring along a bathing suit and towel to take a minute dip in the water.

10 City Tour of Old and New San Juan See modern San Juan as you drive in air-conditioned comfort through the areas of Isla Verde, Condado, past Fort San Gerónimo and on into Old San Juan, one of the most beautiful old cities in the New World, and filming location for big-budget movies starring such luminaries as Will Smith, George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. Your first stop is for a short visit to Fort San Cristobal, a mainstay of the San Juan fortification system, from which the Spanish successfully defended their city from British and Dutch attacks as well as frequent assaults from various and sundry pirates. Be sure to watch their historical video on the area. In addition, search out the dungeon where there are centuries old graffiti representing images of Spanish galleons drawn on the walls. As you board the vehicle again and continue your drive through the old city, you ll see the beautiful 17 th century Spanish ironwork on the restored homes and note the blue-black glazed cobblestones that were brought to San Juan as ballast for the Spanish galleons, and were used to surface the narrow streets of the Old City. In addition, armed with our Map of Old San Juan, you will have time to explore some of the many interesting shops, boutiques and art galleries that have made this historic area their home. We can combine many versions and upgrades with our City Tour, including walking tour guides, an afternoon tour with an evening return, an additional stop at the Capitol Building or a combination City Bacardi Tour. Let us know your interests, and we ll be happy to tailor a tour just for your guest. Rum Lab Tour Old San Juan Welcome to Puerto Rico, the rum capital of the world! With over 75 percent of the rum sold in the U.S. coming from Puerto Rico, it s the island's chief export. Guests will enjoy a short guided walking tour of portions of Old San Juan, with views of beautiful Plaza Dársenas, The Military Fortress called El Arsenal, constructed by the Spanish military during the Spanish-American war in the nineteenth century, and the famous art deco Banco Popular building from 1934 while learning its economic role in the sugarcane industry. Guests will see the original blue cobblestones and enjoy the colorful streets of beautiful Old San Juan, before arriving at the Rum Lab. This experience starts with a Rum Tasting, where guests will smell and savor hints of spices, strong molasses and caramel overtones while tasting aged rum, flavored or crystal, and learn where each of these Puerto Rican rums are made, their differences and how to mix them. After the tasting the mixology class begins, where they will create 2 exciting Caribbean rum cocktails and learn how to garnish them with exotic herbs and fruits. With shaker or mortar on hand get ready to make (and drink!) 2 unforgettable Puerto Rican rum cocktails. Whether it s the traditional Cuba Libre, a guava or passion fruit mojito, a Hurricane or an exotic lemon rumtini, guests will be sure you will feel the unique satisfaction that enjoying good rums and good company brings. Pinchos are a very local snack, consisting of skewers of different kinds of meat, vegetables or fruit. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy chicken, meatballs, shrimp and fruity or veggie pinchos made with our chef s special cilantro or tamarind fruit salsas. At the end of this tour, participants will have learned a little rum history, mastered the experience of making their own cocktails and enjoying them first hand. Salud!

11 Mofongo Mojito Tour Enjoy a journey into history, Old San Juan shopping and have the opportunity to prepare your own Puerto Rican Lunch! Guests will enjoy a walking tour of Old San Juan with a focus on architecture, history, legends, and even some time for shopping! Old San Juan, a Spanish colonial city that is more than 500 years old, is a shopper s delight. As they are walking and building up an appetite, the last stop of the tour will take them to enjoy a cooking class. First, the Chef will greet them and entice them with a nice cold Mojito, and instructions on how to make one, followed by a tasty appetizer. Then the chef will provide you with instructions and all the fixings to prepare your own mofongo lunch. Guests will discover the magic of our "cocina criolla, by learning how to create a local favorite, The Mofongo a delightful mash of fried green plantains and chicken broth into which a combination of seafood, meat, or vegetables is added. Each participant will become a chef for a day and find out how this incredible Puerto Rican meal is made, and at the end, enjoy the fruits of their own delicious creation! This is the perfect ending after a walk through the historical city! Coffee Tasting in Old San Juan Sombras single-origin specialty coffee. Puerto Rico is a perfect place to grow high-quality coffee. While the majority of the coffee grown on the island is for high volume, commercial grade products, a renaissance of artisanal specialty coffee has begun. We have partnered with Cuatro Sombras, a coffee house in Old San Juan, to create a coffee tasting experience that is interesting, informative, and delicious. Their coffee comes from the Hacienda Santa Clara coffee plantation in Yauco, currently being restored to its former glory. Some of the coffee bushes on this planatation are from the original bushes planted in the 1850 s. The beans from this farm are used to produce Cuatro Guests are greeted upon arrival at the shop and walked back to the classroom/teaching lab where they view a slide presentation of coffee production, and learn about Puerto Rico s past and present coffee production. Then the hands on cupping (tasting) begins. With rating sheet in hand, the barista talks the guests through evaluating body and acidity, and judging different characteristics of the coffee s aroma, taste, and how it coats one s tongue. Following the tasting, guests enjoy their choice of coffee (latte, Capuccino, espresso or macchiato), and a pastry.

12 Coffee Tasting with Champion Barista At Resort Puerto Rico is known for its history of coffee, however it is quickly becoming a center for artisanal coffees as well, with a renaissance of coffee houses and small independent plantations becoming popular throughout the island. This Three Time Puerto Rico Barista Champion grew up on a coffee Hacienda and works with all stages of the coffee product. He is happy to come to your resort for an entertaining chat regarding the history of coffee, the Hacienda San Pedro history, and his own credentials. Arriving via bicycle, his is a presentation reminiscent of simpler times: he brings a butane powered stove, four coffee brewing decanters, a weight, 2 water carafs, a manual muscle powered coffee grinder, and other elements necessary to enjoy coffee. No fancy machine or high powered coffee grinder here! Guests will then hear about the coffees they will sample and the differences between them, while watching him brew the various kinds, enjoy samples, and select the one they would like to enjoy a full brew of. Carite Forest with Guavate Tour If you want to experience food & relaxation in true Puerto Rican country-side fashion then this is the right excursion for you! First we will head south from San Juan to Guavate, an area commonly known for its pig roasteries, and recently dubbed the Roast Pork Highway ; lined up one after the other on both sides of the road. These eateries, called lechoneras all serve tasty pig roasted on the spit and served with your choice of typical Puerto Rican sides such as rice stewed with pigeon peas, pasteles or pickled green bananas. But before we eat we ll head up to the Carite Forest. The Carite Forest is a humid, sub-tropical forest that spans over 6,000 acres running through 3 municipalities and it is operated since 1935 by the local government s Department of Natural Resources. Due to its uninterrupted protection the forest has become a reserve home to almost 50 different species of birds, plus countless species of ferns, palms and pine trees. There are 25 miles of hiking trails in all and a large, well maintained area for picnics. The forest is the meeting point for 3 main rivers Rio Grande de Loiza, Rio Grande de Patillas and Rio La Plata. This creates bubbling springs, natural creeks and natural pools. Our visit will lead us down one of the well maintained hiking trails (easy level, completely paved with minimal inclines) to one of the most famous of these natural pools: Charco Azul which literally means Blue Pond. The Charco Azul is not deep on the sides, but in the very middle it does get pretty deep. You can choose to just wade in or take a plunge but remember these are mountain waters so it will be cold! You ll want to wear your bathing suit and take a towel and change of clothes if you plan on going in. Then you guide will lead you back to the vehicle and you ll visit one of the typical Lechoneras. Featured on the Travel Channel and Food Network, this is where the locals go for great tasting food in a casual atmosphere. We can upgrade the experience by bringing in a local chef to talk to the guests about the food they are eating and act as their guide during this culinary experience. Following the lunch, we can also have an authentic Salsa couple dance, showing participants how it s really done. Guests may stop at one of the roadside stands or shops for local souvenirs or gifts, including our pilon (wooden mortar and pestle), hot sauces, and other culinary treats.

13 Bacardi Distillery Tour with Rum Connoisseur Seminar Your tour carries you out to the south side of San Juan Harbor, where you will enter the beautifully manicured grounds of the Bacardí Rum Distillery, the world s largest distiller of natural spirits. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your classroom for a private Rum Seminar led by your Bacardi Brand Specialist, a Master in Rum. For the next 45 minutes to an hour, the conference speaker will lead the group in tasting and understanding each of the products being tasted typically Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold, Bacardi 8 and Bacardi Reserve are presented, though this is subject to change. The process, aging, body, flavor and anecdotes are presented in a professional yet entertaining conference. Following the seminar, you will continue to the interior patio of the Bacardi Visitor s Center for the traditional tour. Bacardi Distillery Tour with Rum Mixology Seminar Your tour carries you out to the south side of San Juan Harbor, where you will enter the beautifully manicured grounds of the Bacardí Rum Distillery, the world s largest distiller of natural spirits. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your classroom for a private Rum Mixology Seminar led by your Bacardi Brand Specialist, a Master in Rum. For the next 45 minutes to an hour, the conference speaker will lead the group in the preparation and understanding how each of the signature cocktails is created typically Bacardi Cuba Libre, Bacardi Mojito and a Bacardi Flavors Drink are presented and prepared, though this is subject to change. Each participant will be standing and acting like a bartender and at the end will receive a Bacardi University Rum Mixology Certificate. Following the seminar, you will continue to the interior patio of the Bacardi Visitor s Center for the traditional tour.

It has a lovely beach, and caters to the usual Ritz customer. With a great casino, meeting and ballrooms as well as several upscale restaurants on the property, this hotel is a good option for incentive programs looking for a recognized brand hotel in town. El San Juan Hotel This iconic hotel is located in the Isla Verde area of San Juan, very close to the airport. It has been a mainstay of Puerto Rico s hotel scene for many decades. With its beautiful beachfront location, beautiful marble lobby and discotheque, this hotel offers guests a fantastic night life, fine and trendy dining and elegant ballrooms. They were recently purchased, and the new owners have made a significant investment in the property to bring it up to 21 st century standards. The hotel is part of the Hilton s new Curio collection of hotels. InterContinental San Juan Hotel This recently renovated hotel is located in the Isla Verde area of San Juan, next to the El San Juan Hotel. The hotel shares the Isla Verde beach with its next door neighbor and has won many awards from meeting planners. Known for its great service, the hotel features a lovely pool area, recently renovated rooms, a casino, business center, great restaurants and a fantastic new trendy lobby bar. Renaissance La Concha Resort Located in the Condado area of San Juan, this beachfront hotel is characterized by its tropical and open décor, great lobby bar, casino, beautiful meeting and ballrooms all of which face the ocean. With flavors of Miami, the hotel, situated on the main strip of the Condado, Ashford Avenue, is centrally located with many fine stores, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Condado Vanderbilt Following a meticulous renovation, this recently opened hotel has been restored to its original 1919 grandeur, and is the first five star property in San Juan. The property offers 305 room and suite accommodations inspired by the hotel s captivating oceanfront setting. Lobby of the hotel is the place to be and be seen, guests can lounge on contemporary sofas and lounges while enjoying appetizers and cocktails. Dinner can be enjoyed in 1919 restaurant, which offers contemporary gourmet cuisine. Hotel is ideally located in Ashford Avenue, walking distance to shops, nightlife and great restaurants. This property is a great option for higher end clients looking for a five star city property. Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Located close to the Condado area and our colonial city, and overlooking the bay of San Juan, this modern hotel is located in the Convention Center District, surrounded by other smaller hotels, and is an ideal property for large meetings and incentives. It is the only LEED-Certified hotel in the Caribbean. Guests will also enjoy the most modern gambling casino available in San Juan. San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino This hotel is located on Ashford Avenue, the main strip the Condado area of San Juan. This hotel is characterized by its large beachfront area and surrounded by a wonderful variety of restaurants, cafés, bars, and bistros within walking distance and offers beautiful meeting and ballrooms with a great lobby bar and casino. 15 - Distance from Fajardo (watersports) area 30 minutes St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort This 5-star property is the closest to the airport of the outlying resorts east of San Juan. They offer all the usual amenities typical of a 5-star property and have won numerous awards for their high service levels. The resort boasts the only Platinum Certificate from the Audubon Society and is a nature reserve. A delightful beach and many other water sports are available. A worldclass golf course is an additional asset. This property is a unique high end resort in an ideal location, equidistant from San Juan and Fajardo, allowing it to take advantage of many activities, as well as minutes from the Rainforest. Gran Meliá Puerto Rico Golf Resort This lovely resort offers rooms in 2-story bungalow style buildings. It is characterized by its open air elegant marbled corridors and lobby with many fountains and large expansive gardens and a fantastic pool facility. The hotel offers guests a great variety of restaurants with different cuisine. Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort This resort offers guests wonderful views of both the ocean and the rainforest. With expansive green lawns and lovely gardens which are often used for outdoor reception, the hotel has a separate facility dedicated for meetings and banquets. It has several pools, one of which is for adult-use only as well as several fine and trendy dining restaurants. Two 18-hole golf courses and a casino are part of the amenities offered by this property. It offers guests Palomino Island as a private beach facility for the exclusive use of hotel guests. A lovely water park was recently added for guests traveling with children. A completely separate building houses many board and meeting rooms and beautiful ballrooms. The hotel has several pools on different levels and a wonderful variety of restaurants as well as spa. This breathtaking 5-star resort opened in December of 2012, utilizing the footprint of the old Dorado Beach, allowing it to preserve its proximity between the buildings and the beach. It is surrounded by magnificent golf courses, beach club, state-of-the-art spa featuring tree house treatment rooms, and a $12 million dollar Water Park.
