2 Installation Instructions Thank you for your purchase of our product. The following contains assembly instructions as well as care and maintenance suggestions. Please take a moment to completely read and familiarize yourself with this information. If you have any questions regarding your purchase, please contact us at WARNINGS Please read and understand the following safety warnings to prevent personal injury and/or damage to your product. 1. To avoid possible personal injury and/or damage to the awning make sure it is securely attached to your structure. 2. o not use your awning when high winds are present. xcessive wind speeds may cause damage to your ecko awning and/or structure. Wind damage or storm damage is not covered by the warranty. The max recommended wind speed is 23 mph when awning is extended. 3. Keep fingers clear of all moving parts and hardware, including all pivot points. 4. Never attempt to repair or disassemble the extension arms. The extension arms are under high tension and can cause serious injury and/or damage. 5. on t install your awning near a furnace or fireplace exhaust vent as high heat may damage your awning. 6. The awning is not made to support additional weight. o not place anything on top of the awning as this may cause the awning to collapse. 7. This product is designed for stationary installation, when installed on a RV or mobile home application, it is recommended to be removed during transit. 8. It is recommended to keep the wireless remote control out of reach of children. AWNING MUST SURLY ATTAH TO TH STRUTURAL SUPPORTS OF YOUR HOM. Failure to mount the brackets properly may cause your awning to collapse and cause personal injury or property damage. See step 3. The Recommended pitch for the awning is 1 to 2 inches per foot of extension. How to alculate Awning Height: 1. etermine the awning extension length you desire. (1. xample 10 ) 2. etermine the headroom clearance you will need for the awning extension length from step 1. 4 Step 2 Marking The Line Note: A minimum of 5 clearance is required from the top of the mounting brackets when mounting near roofs overhangs, doors or windows. How to mark the location of the mounting brackets: 1. y using the bracket mounting measurement (xample 109-1/2 ) calculated in step 1, measure from the base up to make two even sized marks 12 apart. 2. y using a chalk line snap a level* chalk line using the two marks from step 1. 5 Spacing Level chalk Line *NOT: This line must be level. o not rely on structural lines such as siding, etc., on the exterior wall. Wall 3. Using a stud finder locate and mark all the stud centers located along the new level chalk line. (xample Wood s) The brackets need to be secured with lag bolts (on siding, stucco and wood surfaces) and concrete anchors* (in masonry, concrete and brick walls,*sold Separately) How to attach the mounting brackets into wood studs: 1. Line up one mounting bracket () with each stud center line and level chalk line created in step 2. Make sure to line up the top of each bracket with the level chalk line. 2. While in position mark two of the four holes in each mounting bracket using a pencil. Note: For the left mounting bracket mark the left two holes. For the right mounting bracket mark the right two holes. For the center mounting bracket mark either the left two holes or right two holes. Level chalk Line 3. On each mark, drill a 1/4 wide x 3-1/2 deep hole. rilling holes this deep will prevent the wood from splitting. 4. Using six bracket lag bolts* () attach the three mounting brackets () using a 9/16 wrench. *Additional 6 lag bolts included are optional. Note: For wall mounting with siding use a spacer shim. Shims sold separately**, contact your siding manufacturer. Note: Masonry, oncrete and rick wall mounting will require use of concrete anchors (sold separately). Use the appropriate sized drill bit with the proper fastener for the concrete anchors. 5 Step 4 Attaching the Awning Framework o not remove restraining straps until after the unit is completely installed - the unit needs to be closed and secure during installation. How to attach the Awning Framework: A 1. With two ladders and the help of another person slide the awning framework (A) onto the three mounting brackets (). See figure Secure the awning frame work using the six awning allen bolts () and six washers (). See Figure 2. Tighten all six allen bolts () with a allen wrench to secure. F I G U R 1 F I G U R 2 X 2 A Step 5 Plugging in the Awning to 120V outlet RISK OF LTRIAL SHOK. This awning is supplied with a grounding conductor and grounding type attachment plug. To reduce the risk of electric shock, be certain that it is connected only to a properly grounded, grounding type receptacle. For added safety, it is highly recommended to connect this awning to a GFI (Ground Fault ircuit Interrupter) outlet. Never remove the grounding blade from the plug. Always disconnect the power source before attempting to install, service or perform maintenance. If the power source is out of sight, lock and tag in the off position to prevent unintended power application. Failure to do so could result in fatal electric shock. All wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician. Plug Awning into a GFI 120V outlet (recommended) A How to plug in your awning. 1. Locate the power cord that is attached to the awning (A). 2. Plug power cord into a 120V A outlet. A GFI outlet is recommended. NOT: Use of an extension cord is not recommended. At minimum, a 15 amp dedicated circuit is recommended. Page 5
6 Step 6 xtending, Retracting and Stopping the Awning The extension arms are under high tension and can cause serious injury and/or damage. Stand clear of extension arms as you remove the restraining straps. NVR ATTMPT TO RPAIR OR ISASSML TH XTNSION ARMS! The extension arms have been carefully aligned and calibrated at the factory and need no adjustment. If awning is operated continuously for extended periods, the awning s thermal overload protection may trip. If thermal overload is tripped, the remote will not work. Wait approximately 1/2 hour for the awning motor to cool and try operating the awning again. How to extend the awning: 1. ARFULLY release the restraining straps from the awning. 2. With awning plugged into a power outlet as shown in step 6 press the xtend/open button on the wireless remote (F). The awning will extend to full length. You may stop the awning at any time using the Stop button to stop the awning. Press the Retract/lose button to close the awning. Note: The extension arms will not be completely straight when the awning is fully extended, there will be a slight bend that remains. This bend has been engineered to allow the awning to retract smoothly. Wireless Remote F Retract lose Stop xtend Open Step 7 Adjusting the Pitch How to adjust the pitch: 1. Using the Wireless Remote (F) fully extend the awning. 2. On one side of the awning, loosen the two locking nuts connected to the awning arm. Only loosen the locking nuts, do not remove. 3. Turn the jack bolt to adjust pitch of one side of the awning. A level (not included) may be placed on top of the awning end plate. 4. Tighten the two locking nuts. 5. If necessary repeat steps to adjust the other side of awning. Awning nd Plate Page 6
7 Step 8 Adjusting xtension/open Length How to adjust the extension/open length. Adjust Retracting/lose 1. Using a 4mm hex wrench, turn the white adjuster screw to either the plus (+) or the minus (-) to increase or decrease retracting/close length. Note: Awning end plate should only gently touch the awning main frame when awning is fully retracted/closed. If the awning end plate closes too tightly, this may cause damage to the awning. Use the white adjuster screw to adjust. Adjust xtending/open 1. Using a 4mm hex wrench, turn the red adjuster screw to either the plus (+) or the minus (-) to increase or decrease extending/open length. Note: When adjusting the awnings full extension/open position, the extension arms can not be completely straight when the awning is fully extended. At full awning extension the arms must have a slight bend that remains. This bend has been engineered to allow the awning to retract smoothly. White: Retracting/lose Adjustment Red: xtending/open Adjustment Main Frame Awning nd Plate Step 10 Replacing wireless remote batteries. How to replace the wireless remote (F) batteries. 1. Remove the battery cover from the back of the wireless remote (F). 2. Remove the battery from the wireless remote (F). 3. Insert new battery into the wireless remote (F). Note: Positive side of the battery faces down. 4. Attach battery cover to the back of the wireless remote (F). Note: ispose of used battery according to local and regional rules. attery Negative (-) Positive (+) MANUFATURR S LIMIT WARRANTY: This product is covered under the manufacturer s 1 year limited warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. If your ackyard reations furniture fails structurally during normal use within 1 year of purchase, the manufacturer will repair or replace the defective piece at no charge. The warranty excludes awnings used for commercial purposes, awnings damaged by acts of nature, abuse or lack of proper care or use of improper hardware. Proof of purchase (dated register receipt) is required for warranty claims. Page 7
