ASSOCIATION OF OKLAHOMA GENERAL CONTRAC- TORS 636 NE 41st Street I Oklahoma City, Okla (405) I F (405) Bobby Stem, Executive Director (405) I bstem@webuildoklahoma.com Courtney Jones, Director of Finance (405) I cjones@webuildoklahoma.com Well, we have set our clocks back and the weather is getting cooler. The leaves are changing, the stores are packing shelves with Christmas items, and on the way into the office today I heard the term Black Friday 3 times. With Thanksgiving JUST around the corner, we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank YOU, the members of the AOGC. With 2016 quickly coming to an end, we can t help but reflect on the year, the people, and events that made it wonderful. Here are a few things we are thankful for. We are thankful to those who volunteer their time to guide the organization. Those of you who sit on the board, or support AOGC events and meetings, are critical to the success of the organization and its mission. We are thankful to those of you who pay membership dues to the organization. The AOGC is a volunteer trade association that survives ONLY by your contributions. There are many other places you could spend your dollars, therefore, we are grateful that you have the confidence to continue your support. We are thankful for your passion, integrity, and commitment to building Oklahoma. We are thankful for a strong partnership with ODOT and the OTA, because of this we are able to be unified in our message and increase our odds of success inside (and outside) the political arena. We are thankful for our family and friends, and hope that this holiday season brings great cheer and happiness. And last but not least We are thankful the elections are over. Thank you for allowing us to work on your behalf. We hope that each of you have an amazing holiday season! Sincerely, Your AOGC Staff Bobby Casey Courtney From the Desk of Bobby Stem Casey Davison, Director of Membership (405) I cdavison@webuildoklahoma.com 1

6 House T&I Committee Chairman Bill Shuster recently visited Oklahoma to tour and fund raise. We were honored to host him for a two day tour of Caterpillar, and the Stillwater Regional Airport. We surpassed our fundraising goal and hosted the Chairman in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City. His visit concluded with a dinner at Vast atop the Devon tower with special guest Governor Mary Fallin. Bobby Stem tours at CL BOYD I recently took a tour of CL Boyd to learn more about their significant investment to expand the capacity of their Oklahoma City campus. Their facility upgrade project, launched in the spring of 2015, includes seven phases with targeted completion in summer Phase 1 (new indoor/outdoor wash bay complex) and Phase 2 (6,000 sq. ft. specialty shop) have been completed and Phase 3 (10,000 sq. ft. shop expansion) is currently underway. When completed, Boyd s new campus will feature expanded service capacity for equipment repairs, expanded parts warehouse storage, a new parts retail area and new administrative offices, giving them the increased capacity to better support their customers. It was a fascinating tour and exciting to see that the industry is growing in a way to help support this kind of expansion. Thanks Stave and Ross for taking time from your day! 4

21 Federal Delegation In District Visits We recently began reaching out to members of our congressional delegation in hopes of setting up a few in-district meetings before the elections. In October we met with Congressman Jim Bridenstine (District 1), Congressman Markwayne Mullin (District 2) and Congressman Lucas (District 4). Each meeting took place inside the Congressman s district. Congressman Jim Bridenstine Special thanks go out to Sherwood Construction for hosting the lunch at their quarry. The Congressman reiterated his pledge to not run for re-election again in He talked mainly about his frustration with Congress and the flawed politics that rule the government. The Congressman discussed the budgeting process and also the current state of Presidential politics. Congressman Markwayne Mullin Congressman Mullin isn t new to our industry, a past member of the House Transportation committee, Markwayne remains tied into our issues. Special thanks to Ira Green Construction of Claremore for hosting us and the Congressman. Markwayne spoke to us about the need for businessmen and women to be active in the process. He encouraged us to consider running for office or finding like-minded folks to do so. Markwayne is still considering his future in Congress, as he had originally considered only serving 6 years in Washington, but is being encouraged to remain in congress and run for re-election in 2018 because of his quick rise in power. We will keep you posted! Congressman Frank Lucas Thanks to Cummins Construction Company of Enid we were able to host Congressman Lucas with an amazing home-made lunch and tour of an asphalt plant. Frank visited with us about the future of DC politics depending on the outcome of the election. His historical knowledge of elections and their ramifications was amazing. We also discussed the state questions and the need to take your time this year when voting, because there is going to be a great deal to read! We ended the lunch with a tour of the plant and presented the congressman with his very own AOGC hard hat. These meetings are a part of our new annual initiative to make sure we meet face to face with every member of our delegation INSIDE their own district, as well as in their DC offices during the Transportation Fly In. We know that the highway re-authorization bill will be here before we know it and feel it critical to begin making sure we have a strong and direct line of communication with our delegation so we can be helpful. We will keep you updated as we begin to schedule more meetings. 19
