Snell that odour! NEWS OPERATIONS As part of the Loch Sport Sewerage Scheme, Ryan Snell, Environment Scientist has delivered his first construction project. As the heading suggests it s about odour.

As part of my Diploma of Project Management, a requirement was to manage a real-life engineering project, so when I was given the opportunity to work on the Odour Control Project, I jumped at the chance, Ryan said. Working on this project from start to end has given me great insight into everyday project management and the challenges that it brings. I am grateful to Wayne Hewitt and Svetla Petkova who have given me expert tips and support while managing the project and a special thanks (once again) to Deb Archer for her guidance and encouragement. Now that the project is completed I will be looking to work on the next one hopefully it s not as snelly! 2 Guy Sebastian Madness Released 21/11/ tracks Aussie pop superstar Guy Sebastian is back with his new studio album, Madness, his first since the smash success of Armageddon in 2012, which was an ARIA #1 album and has been certified 2 x Platinum in Australia. The Movember community has raised $580 million to date and funded over 800 programs in 21 countries. This work is saving and improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems. Congratulations goes to Peter Stewart for becoming a Mo Bro in support of this worthy cause. 3 Taylor Swift 1989 Released 28/10/ tracks 1989 is Swift s much-anticipated fifth studio album and is, in her own words, her first documented, official pop album, nd is a coolection of songs inspiration in listening to late- 80s pop. 7 WATERWORDS NOVEMBER 2014

4 OPERATIONS NEWS Loch Sport Sewerage Scheme officially operational! After more than 12 months of construction and 3 years of planning, the first Stage of the Loch Sport Sewerage Scheme has been declared serviced and now fully operational! In order for the Scheme to be operational some significant milestones have been achieved. These have included the completion of a 30km transfer main (from Dutson Downs to Loch Sport), 30km of reticulation pipework and two new and significant pump stations. As part of the commissioning for the Pump Stations, Field Operations and Transfield members attended two training days in order to familiarise themselves and gain a better understanding of the operations. everyone involved across the organisation. It has even been praised by the Loch Sport Community Reference Group of the professional and informative manor it has all been achieved. The rest of Loch Sport (Stage B, C and D) will be connected progressively throughout So now the Scheme is officially operational what does this mean for Loch Sport customers? Well, over 75% of customers in Stage A will be flushing the loo to their new Pressure Sewer Unit before Christmas, putting the new infrastructure, pumps stations and reticulation pipework to the test. To date, the success of the Scheme is a fantastic effort by 11 WATERWORDS NOVEMBER 2014
