It lies north of the A1079 road where it is met by the B1246 road that passes through the village. The City of York is around half an hour s journey by bus, just 13 miles to the north west. Barmby Moor has a long history and was originally a market town with a coaching inn. At the western end of the village properties on the northern side of the B1246 are set back behind an open green. The landscape around the moated manor house near the village centre is an important village feature. The former RAF Pocklington Airfield, now an industrial estate, lies within the parish boundary just one mile from the village entre.
