1 The Newsletter for FSB Connect Club Members May/June 2016 There is not a tour like this one to be found anywhere but here! We ve done this same tour previously and we are offering it again because it is just that amazing. This 21-day tour will have you crossing the international dateline and starting off your tour in Cairns where you will be off to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world s most spectacular attractions as well as a World Heritage site. From here you ll visit the Outback and have a chance to meet the Aboriginal people of the area. We will also visit Ayers Rock (also known as Uluru) where you will enjoy a champagne toast at sunset to watch the colors of the rock change before your eyes. Melbourne is next with a visit to Phillip Island to watch the world s largest colony of Little Penguins. This is an absolutely amazing site to behold. From here we make our way to New Zealand and the city of Christchurch which suffered the devastating earth quake in See firsthand how the city is recreating itself, before heading to the Franz Josef Glacier where you ll have a rare opportunity to experience a living glacial landscape in a temperate environment. Then we re off to one of New Zealand s prettiest little towns, Queensland. From here you ll visit the breathtakingly beautiful Milford Sound before saying good-bye to New Zealand and back to Australia for the exciting town of Sydney! Take in the best of Sydney including koala s, kangaroos and, of course, Sydney Harbor with its magnificent skyline and Opera House! On our trip home, we ve included a 3 night stay on the beautiful island of Fiji which will complete your trip with a relaxing stay in a tropical paradise! 2 Message from Jolene I am very excited about this newsletter as we have several new trips listed in it! First, we have the one-day mystery trip ready for September and I know that many of you have been patiently waiting for me to get this trip finalized! You may now call and get your reservation in, and be sure to let me know which of the three days you want to join us! Always a favorite is the Iowa State Fair, and so reasonably priced you can bring the entire family. Then I m sure you noticed from the front cover, we are heading back to Australia! I can t say enough about this wonderful trip and fascinating itinerary. Plan to join us June 1st for the travel show. We also have two really great shows planned for Circa 21, Menopause and Million Dollar Quartet. I also have the Ladies Day Out trip scheduled and priced so make plans with your girlfriends to join us for this fun getaway. So pick up that phone and make your reservations early, I hope you ll be able to join us on one or more of these trips! Traveling enables us to see the world through the eyes of someone else, and to understand their aspirations and assumptions. It s about empathy, which is important as we seek to understand different cultures as well as our own. Yes, we live in uncertain times but staying home and hand-wringing won t do any good. Experiencing the world first hand will transform you and maybe even transform the world in turn. I invite you to experience one of our amazing extended tours and feel the comfort and safety that group travel provides. We have updated our trip release waiver, so you ll want to take notice of that for the next trip you join us on. The only thing changed is the last paragraph. Well it s certainly nice to have more daylight during the evening hours again. Enjoy your days to the fullest as we watch those spring flowers burst into bloom from the spring rains! May and June can be busy months also with graduations, weddings and holidays. Enjoy those special times with your friends and family, and be thankful for all your blessings. The Linn County Fair June 22-27, 2016 Needing something fun to do in June? Why not bring your family to the Linn County Fair, June 22nd-27th at the fairgrounds in Central City? The fair has free gate admission and free parking. This year s grandstand events will consist of Mutton Bustin, Tribute Band, Confederate Railroad, LeRoy Van Dyke with special guest Dale Thomas, ECIPA Truck and Tractor Pull, Impact Monster Trucks and Chuck Wagon Races. The fair also has fun, free, family entertainment throughout the fairgrounds including pig racing, puppet shows, interactive displays, livestock shows and the list goes on! She 's packed her bags and is heading for Portland, Oregon to stay with her sister Margie. Her farmland is already managed and she likes the income it generates, but wants to get rid of her acreage and farmhouse. Doris is financially savvy and has investments and savings accounts sprinkled around town at various institutions, but obviously won 't be around to research and invest in local CDs. Because she 'd rather spend time exploring the Pacific Northwest with Margie, Doris wants to find someone to step in immediately to manage her investments and take care of the repair and sale of her acreage. The Trust Department would be an excellent fit to meet Doris 's needs. She could have an agency account, and FSB Trust would manage her finances, pay her bills until her home is sold, and work with the County for a residential parcel split to get her acreage sold. With the Trust Department 's help, Doris can enjoy her life 's newest adventure without worrying about things back in Iowa. The doors will be open at 8:30 a.m. Enjoy all the free popcorn you can eat and all the pop or coffee you can drink! The concession stand is also open to purchase anything else you might like to have. At 9:15 a.m. we will have announcements, door prizes, and a synopsis of the movies being shown that day with a chance to change theatres for the movie of your choice, and to get those refills before we start the show! You can take your pick between Tuesday the 13th, Wednesday the 14th, or Thursday the 15th to join us! We will depart the Collins Road Square office of FSB around 8:00 AM and return home at approximately 5:30 PM. The price for this day of mystery is 98 per person and must be paid with your reservation to hold your space. Payment is completely refundable till August 13th. After that we will fill your seat from our Waitlist if possible to assure you a refund. Price includes a step-on guide, a morning snack, some shopping time, a couple of stops in the morning, a wonderful lunch, and a couple more stops in the afternoon including another snack before heading back home.
