2 2 Join the national website Keep in touch with members nationwide Diezel's brother-in-law, Scott, is suffering from brain cancer. In January, the Heat of Dixie member, Paul Hill and his wife, Cassie Hill lost their daughter Jenifer Franklin. On February 6th, Scott Nobody Cone, from the 7 Bridges Road Chapter, went down on his bike. He was ok, but had some cuts, bruises, and road rash. On February 19th, Willy Wilson, the father-in-law of our very own Lynn "Hambone" Hammock and his wife, Tammy, lost his battle with brain cancer. On February 20th, the brother-in-law, Jerry Will, of our very own Pete "Dogman" and Becki "Sassy" Thompson, passed away. On March 2nd, Larry Indian Larry Young, of the 7 Bridges Road Chapter, had his home and surrounding property destroyed in a tornado. He and his wife were not hurt. On March 7th, Clint "Skillet" Morgan of the Desoto County chapter took his own life. Clint was going through a lot of personal problems. On March 13th, we learned that our very own Gene "Big Sexy's" Beard lost his Grandmother, Florene Gillentine. On March 28th, Larry "M&M" Wells, from the 7 Bridges Road Chapter, lost his grandson, Brodie, due to extended illness. On April 10th, we learned that Steve "Levi" Odom, from the Heart of Dixie Chapter, lost his Mother, Shirley Odom. In March, we learned that Steve "Bushwacker" Floyd and Steven "Stringstretcher" Floyd, from the Tupelo Chapter, lost their father and grandfather, Tommy Floyd. Please keep all of our Iron Warriors and their families in your thoughts and prayers!

3 3 Order of the Garter Members let Sassy know if any of your better halves would be interested in joining Greetings Brothers and Sisters, The warm weather is finally here and I look forward to riding again. The month of May is just around the corner and I am also looking forward to the Southern Regional meeting in Charleston. The ride up will be great and also the camaraderie that we all share while there. I hope you have all signed up to go and we can all spend some time together. Financially we are still in good shape. 4 4 Greetings to all my Iron Warrior Brothers and Sisters!!!!!!! I m excited about the upcoming trip to Charleston for the Southern Region Conference. I hope that we have a good showing of members who will attend. I expect that we will have a rip roaring good time. I know those guys at the Sovereign Chapter will not disappoint us. I have had several members talk to me about other riders who are interested in becoming Iron Warriors. It s important that we remember that quality outshines quantity when it comes to brotherhood and the Iron Warriors. I look forward to adding new members when it s the right fit for our Chapter and the Iron Warrior Nation. We must all take the probationary time very serious when it comes to membership in our club. In saying this, I look forward to Kyle completing his probation time and becoming a member of our Chapter. We also have several new prospects on the horizon that members have mentioned to me. As we look forward to spring and great riding weather I must remind everyone that motorcycle maintenance is a must for safe riding. If you haven t rode that iron chariot in a while then check those tires, cables and fuel filters. With ethanol now in our fuel it s very important to check our fuel hoses because ethanol breaks down some fuel hoses. I look forward to another great summer and year hanging out with the best Motorcycle Club members in the world. Let s not forget the upcoming chapter elections coming up in the month of June. 5 5... Brought by Dogman... A teacher notices that a little Johnny at the back of the class is squirming around, scratching his crotch and not paying attention. She goes back to find out what's up. He's quite embarrassed and whispers that he has just recently been circumcised and he's quite itchy. The teacher tells him to go down to the principal's office, to phone his mom and ask her what he should do about it. He does this and returns to the class, sits down in his seat and suddenly, there's a general commotion at the back of the room. Back down she goes, only to find him sitting at his desk with his penis hanging out. "I thought I told you to call your mom" she says. "I did" he says, "She told me that if I could stick it out till noon, she'd come and pick me up from school.":) Another great riding season coming up! 7 7 Brothers and Sisters, First off let me thank everyone in the Middle Georgia Chapter for your Thoughts and Prayers as I dealt with the sickness and Death of my Grandmother. The plant that you guys sent was great and gave me a sense of security knowing that I had Friends, Brothers and Sisters close by as I dealt with the pain. I have the plant sitting over my fireplace now as a constant reminder of my Grandmother. All the calls and s is what makes this organization so great, no matter what is going on in someone s life you can always count on the members of this Club to pull you back in and comfort you, Again Thanks there are no words that can explain the gratitude. On a lighter note, the weather is heating up making for some great riding times. I m personally looking forward to our ride to the Regions. There is nothing better to clear your head and to forget about all you troubles at home, work etc. than getting out on two wheels with your Iron Warrior Family and having a good time. With that in mind I remind everyone to make sure that they are up to date on the maintenance on your bike and that your tires are in good shape, it s a bad time to find out you have a problem when your 200 miles away from home. I m hoping that with the weather being so nice that we will be out and about more as a group. I think the more that we are seen the more people will want to know about us and we can make this one of the largest Chapters in the Region. I m proud that I was able to come into this Chapter as we got it off the ground and running. We are basically responsible for 3 other Chapters being started from within our Original Charter Chapter. There is interest in starting another Chapter North of Atlanta and that is in the works as we speak. We will be responsible for the creation of this Chapter as well and I hope that we will be able to work very close with the new Chapter once it is up and running. Let's all remember to continue to try to encourage those that will be a good fit with our organization to come out and join us for a ride and a meeting and expand our family. I look forward to seeing and riding with each one of you in the upcoming days. 8 8 8 Riding Tips For Winter Motorcycling! Time for an ice-cold slap in the face! Here are a few chilling safety reminders for the winter months ahead. Not everybody has the luxury of heated grips and a nice snug faring. I grew up in the Mid West riding the year round as a kid on my Sprint. Some of these I learned the hard way. So keep these points in mind to extend your riding pleasure! Slippery Roads The first rains of winter fall on roads that have been coated with oil during the summer months. Wet roads offer less grip than dry roads and places you previously rode could have a sheen of oil that now compromises the grip of your tires. Water Filled Pot Holes There is an illusion created by pot holes. Appearing like puddles, they conceal their depth that is until you ride over them. Never assume a puddle is just a puddle! White Lines The painted surface of white lines gets extremely slippery in the rain. Avoid riding to close to the centre of the road during rain, as these markings collect a lot of fuel and dirt deposits. The same holds true for the painted markings at intersection stops, such as pedestrian crosswalks and lane change arrows and manhole covers or sheets of metal covering road construction! Cars and Pedestrians Be aware that pedestrians in wet weather are always not very aware, especially when running across the road to avoid getting wet! They usually keep their heads down to avoid the rain, so keep yours up to avoid them. Four- wheeled traffic can be just as distracted by the weather. Rain and wipers may reduce their visibility and capability to see you. Speed and Corners Make sure the centrifugal forces on the bike are minimized heading into bends. Ride a little slower, keeping those forces under control. Never sharply brake or accelerate to quickly either! Additionally, gearing down to rapidly could cause a lockup of the back tire where it normally wouldn t on a dry road. Tree Sap Trees overhanging the road get a little over sapped during summer. In the winter rains the mixture of water and tree sap can form a slippery film, the perfect trap for the unwary motorcyclist! Lots of leaves lying on the road, half frozen can be just as slick.

9 9 Corrosion and Your Motorcycle Corrosion during winter can be avoided by washing of the salt and road dirt causing oxidization. Keep your bike waxed to help repel the moisture, besides looking great. Try putting a little grease or Vaseline in areas you think should stay dry. Remember, bike covers will actually get a little moisture underneath them, so keep your bike covered in more ways than one. Warm Yourself Bear in mind that cold hands and feet don t react well. Layer your clothing to help keep warmer. Making more frequent stops to move around and keep loose in very cold weather is a great way to be able to react more quickly in the event something happens. Ride Smart, Ride Safe Mickey Well another three months has just seemed to fly by us. The Middle Georgia Warriors are business as usual. Our meetings have been productive and we continue to move forward and grow as a chapter. The weather has been wonderful and Spring is quickly preparing us for Summer and a brand new riding season. This year our chapter plans on taking a weekend get away together, I look forward to this. It just proves how close we are becoming, more and more like family with every passing year.
