2 INTRODUCTION Beijing Immigration and Entry-Exit Service Association, formerly known as Beijing Entry & Exit Service Association, was established on December 25, 2005 and registered with Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs. The association is a non-profit organization jointly initiated by Beijing entry-exit intermediary agencies and has the legal personality of a social organization. The association now has nearly 100 member organizations, 37 of which constitute the Board of Directors and three constitute the Board of Supervisors. The association accepts the operational guidance from its competent authority Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and the supervision from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs, the non-governmental organization registration authority. It aims to bridge the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and its member organizations, and provides coordination services in-between. It serves as an adviser to the government, and safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of the entry and exit service industry. In addition, by uniting legal private entry and exit agencies in Beijing, it strengthens the cohesion and the ability of self-protection and self-development of the whole industry, and improves its overall economic and social benefits.
