2 CONTEXT AND LOCATION The Democratic republic of Congo is estimated to have $24 trillion worth of untapped deposits if minerals, including the world s largest reserves of coltan and cobalt. Katanga Province Size : 496,871 km² in comparison to size of France : 551,500 km². Katanga Province produces 60% of the worlds cobalt. Cobalt is one of the world's essential elements and is primarily used in aircraft engines and rechargeable batteries (49% of demand for cobalt consumption is destined to this end). Solid future growth in global battery demand will support cobalt consumption and prices for decades to come. Katanga Province (1,000,000 tons ) produces more copper than Canada (720,000 tons). Lubumbashi is the capital of the Katanga Province in the DRC and 2nd largest city in the country. Luano City is located next to Lubumbashi international airport less 6 km from the city centre. 2

Luano City is a smart city (an ambitious economic development programme aimed at consolidating the Katanga Province international business and financial hub, by creating ideal conditions for working, living and spurring investment through the development of smart cities across the province). Luano City development in Lubumbashi is opening up a plethora of investment opportunities. The smart city project is a new initiative to stimulate innovative scientific and technological activities, provide technology-driven facilities to the business community and create a vibrant city lifestyle.
