2 Minutes of General Meeting Broadbeach State School Parents and Citizens Association 17 th May Executive Decisions Resolve or Action Taken/Required 3.1 Flagship Project 2018 Tuckshop Renovation Overall design accepted - Presentation of the final design Action Required: - Funded by the P&C Chris Schaffer to make small final changes and - Project to take place in Winter Holidays get all approvals from the school and finalise siting application from the SE region Department of Education Bring Fiona O Connor and Ingrid Woods start time 30mins earlier to assist with preparation. New starting time 7:30am Tuckshop to open at 8am. That Fiona O Connor and Ingrid Woods s daily hours be increased by 30mins per day. 5 P&C Presidents Report for April 2018 Fundraising success April fundraising profit at $7,100 (May) Sausage sizzle took in approx. $850 with around $200 of expenses, although this would be closer to $270 in expenses as we used drinks in the P&C cupboard. Net profit $700 (April) Mother s day stalls took in $5,267, with around $2,000 in expenses Net profit $3,267 (April) Superhero disco took in $5,150 with $1,300 in expenses Net profit $3,850 Pending & new Floating Casino night. Calling on members to promote ticket sales Book sale. Encourage parents for donations. A few more New fundraising lead by Tracey Mullerhorn (1T parent). Pie day. Suggesting order forms due back one second last Thursday of term 2, with distribution on the last Monday or Tuesday of term. P&C interested in a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Burleigh Waters. Scott will advise a date Initial investigations on P&C running after school care. Could put together a business case for 2019 or 2020.

8 PRINCIPAL P&C REPORT May 2018 Enrolments: Current enrolment = 958 Enrolments continue to grow steadily Application for additional staffing submitted School attendance: 94% for year to date. Rate is reducing this term Holidays in school time having impact Strategic Planning: Investigation continues in the ICT/STEM space Collaboration with Merrimac and Miami High Schools Models of program delivery and examination of future potential of the school being explored to shape the Facilities Master Plan Team led by Wayne have focused on Social Emotional Learning strategy A review of the IPS concept is being conducted by the department. We will be providing input into this process. Review of finance procedures leading to a tightening of the protocols on payments and attendance at extra curricula activities Facilities: Capacity of 943 has been exceeded Work continues on the master plan. Once a broad plan is complete, we will be hosting a session to share with the school community. Application for additional spaces has been submitted. Expecting to have additional two buildings adjacent to those on the oval to accommodate the growth I commend the P&C for the energy expended in planning for the extension of the tuckshop space. Negotiations underway to find solutions for the growing number of the students in after school care on site. Nihon ni Ilimashou in initial planning phase Staffing: Application for additional staffing has been submitted Additional teaching fraction has been allocated to relieve pressure on the large enrolment numbers in Prep. Currently Misty Bacon spends part of her three days each week assisting the Prep teachers Several prac students from university are currently in classes throughout the school Geoff (facilities officer) will be taking extended medical leave. Rob Brookes replacing him General: Revisiting the expectation that all staff are treated respectfully in response to recent examples of verbal abuse towards our people. Commendation to Wayne and the organising group for the ANZAC assembly held last month. Significant positive feedback has been received. All staff engaged in learning about Social Emotional Learning. Teachers engaged in topic of suicide Teaching staff engaged in learning about curriculum, assessment and reporting led by the HoSSs We have, and plan to host groups of staff from other schools in terms 2 and 3 to share the explicit instruction practices. EQI conference late in May for Wayne and Alysha Leadership team will attend 2 day retreat early next month focused on Mindful Leadership and Wellbeing. Facilitators: Adam Fraser and Petris Lapis School Council: A meeting of the council will be convened this term with a focus on future proofing our school
