4 What we do The Events and Marketing department works as a full service events production team producing our own events for Aspen as well as helping organizations bringing events to town Additionally we market city owned facilities, our events and parks & trails We are funded through the general fund and sponsorships

15 background Red Brick opened for school on January 5 th, In 1991 the school district put the Red Brick schoolhouse up for sale. Through a petition initiated by the Aspen Snowmass Council for the Arts, in the election of 1992 the citizens of Aspen approved for the City to purchase the Red Brick with the stated intent of providing a long-term home for the arts, nonprofit organizations and other community uses. Fall of 1994 the Red Brick Center for the Arts opened its doors as home to nonprofits, artists, and Aspen Recreation s gymnasium.

31 FUNDING Real Estate Transfer Tax Supports the programs and maintenance of the Wheeler Opera House. Four things to know about the RETT: A RETT IS NOT A SALES OR PROPERTY TAX THE 0.5% RETT WAS RECENTLY RENEWED UNTIL 2039 WHEELER OPERATIONS CURRENTLY DEPEND ON THE RETT AFFORDABLE PROGRAMS AT THE WHEELER ARE SUPPOSED BY THE RETT (TICKET PRICES, RENTALS, ETC.).
