1 NEWSLETTER deafaccess Gippsland Edition: 131 August 2015 Hello everyone, Welcome to the August newsletter. What amazing wild and woolly weather we have had over the past few weeks. Coming out to my car in the morning is always a surprise. I have been greeted with frost an inch think, mud and this morning a layer of snow. Gippsland is such a stunning area and I love getting a reminder each morning of how the scenery can change so quickly. Just on the topic of the area of Gippsland, I was reading up on the area that is covered by the Gippsland coordinator and was a bit surprised about the sheer size. Gippsland is enormous! In light of this, Helen and I would like to organise a meet and greet in some of the regional areas to introduce ourselves to those we have not met and to touch base with people we have not seen for a while. On page 4, I have listed dates that we will be in your area. In the next newsletter I will let you all know where exactly in each town we will be to catch up for a coffee and morning or afternoon tea. Please make sure you RSVP to these events. If no one attends, we can organise to visit a different area. I have lots of links to internet sites in this edition. Just a reminder if you are receiving a copy of the newsletter in the mail and would like help in viewing any of the websites or to receive a hard copy of some of the links, please message me on Take care and stay warm Brooke Campbell deafaccess Gippsland Coordinator Entire Gippsland region. 5 Do you use Public Transport in Gippsland? The state government are developing The Regional Public Transport Plan and would like to know your thoughts on the public transport system. T he Regional Network Development Plan will, for the first time, set out a plan for better public transport in regional Victoria in the short, medium and long-term. M elbourne has had a plan for many years and it s time to bring that forward thinking to the needs of regional Victoria. - Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan I attended a workshop in Traralgon last week. Lots of ideas came from the workshop including Increasing parking at country train stations Trains that carry more passengers during peak times Better areas for disabled people in wheel chairs and mothers with prams on V line trains and buses Improve communication between customers and staff - we want to know if our train is going to be late Better coverage in smaller towns ( buses ) Shorter journey time - not waiting when V-line trains get close to the city TV screens on regional platforms for information - like metro train stations App on the phone simular to metro that lets you know if there is a problem on the line or if a train/bus will be late Is there something you would like the Government to know about our public transport? Good or bad, they want to know. Visit There are also hard copy surveys available at every train station. If you would like me to send you one please message me on If you would like help filling in the survey, please let Helen or myself know.
