The sessions will move the audience progressively through the description of the problems, the explanation of the challenges, and finally some guidance on finding the solutions through EBT. In this presentation the speaker will use real life examples from recent incident reports and operational conditions to highlight the nature of the challenges with regards to writing new SOPs, and revising training methods and priorities. Speaker: Peter McCarthy, Lecturer, Human Factors and Accident Investigation, Cranfield University 3) UNDERSTANDING THE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY Dan Martin, an experienced military and EMS helicopter pilot who now conducts human factors research for various organisations that have design programs for automation, will take the audience through some of the ways the designers approach the philosophy of Human-Computer Interaction, and how this may influence changes to operator behaviour.
