2 We are pleased to announce that we have received entry forms from 32 Countries listing 87 Pilots. Awards: FAI Medals and Diplomas will be presented in accordance to the FAI Sporting Code. Individual Champion: King of the Belgians Trophy, current holder Christoph Paysant-le-Roux (FRA) Team Champion: M.A.P. Trophy, current holder France In addition to the FAI Awards, the AMA and the NSRCA will have the pleasure of presenting other awards to the victorious countries and individual winner and contestants. Anti-Doping: If a competitor has to take, for a medical condition, any of the substances listed on the WADA Prohibited List, he or she must have a Therapeutic Use Exemption from the FAI. FAI Sporting Licenses and Specification Certificates: Each competitor and the team manager must present a valid FAI Sporting License that has been issued by his or her respective National Airsport Control (NAC) organization. These licenses must be signed by the holders. Each model aircraft that is presented for processing by a competitor must also present an FAI Specification Certificate. These certificates must be signed and stamped by the competitor s NAC organization. Rules: According to the 2011 FAI Sporting Code, Section 4, as well as all applicable amendments for class F3A. Local Rules according to the FAI-Sporting Code: For electric powered models, the electric power circuit(s) must not be physically connected, before the competitor is instructed to start his 8- minute flight time and must be physically disconnected right after landing. The propulsion system(s) must automatically shut-off or fully idle at the moment an R/C signal failure should occur. 2

3 Protests: All protests must be presented in writing to the Contest Director during the competition and must be accompanied by a fee of 35 Euros. This fee is returned only if the protest is upheld. Official Language: The official language of this championship is English. Flags & Anthems: Each Team must present one national flag and the national anthem of its country. All flags and national anthems must be given to the Organizer of the competition at registration and they will be returned to the Team Manager on departure, after the Closing Ceremony and before the banquet. National flags must be about 150x100 cm. National anthem must be on a CD in MP3 format. Insurance: We suggest that each participant take out individual health coverage as well as travel insurance from your respective country. The Championship will be covered by limited third-party liability insurance. In ordered to be covered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics liability coverage while in the United States, you will need to have a completed membership application on file. A signature is required on the application and will be obtained during the team s official check-in designated time slot. If you plan on practicing at an off-site location prior to the competition, please make arrangements to visit the AMA Headquarters first and complete the application to receive your AMA card and proof of liability coverage. Practice Sites: A number of flying sites will be available for contestant use prior to the Championship. These sites will also be available for use during the Championship and are located within a 1-hour drive from Muncie. Details and location maps for the practice sites will be made available after completing your AMA membership application for liability coverage. Shipping: Contestants who will be sending their model boxes ahead by airfreight can have them shipped directly to AMA Headquarters. If you need assistance with International shipping rules and regulations, we suggest you contact DHL International or any other International Shipping Company. Catering/Restaurants: There are numerous restaurants in Muncie that cater to all food preferences. The IAC site will also have vendors selling food on the site, with lunch available for approximately 5 Euro. Dinner at most local area restaurants will run approximately 10 Euro. More details on restaurants will be provided upon check-in AMA Precision Aerobatic Nationals August 2-6: Following the conclusion of the 2011 F3A World Championship the US National Championships for Precision Aerobatics will be held. 6 Model Processing Information: Welcome to the 2011 F3A World Championship. The following is provided to ensure the processing of your models goes smoothly. Please review this information carefully. You have been assigned a time for your Team processing at registration, please be punctual and have your models prepared. Courtesy measurements are available for those wishing to check parameters before official processing. Early processing is available Saturday the 23 rd on time available basis from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs. The processing team will make every effort to aid you in meeting requirements but please be respectful of time limitations. The fail safe radio function that returns the engine / motor to idle or off with loss of radio signal will be checked on all models. Please bring your transmitter(s) to processing and be prepared to demonstrate proper operation of this system. E models should be weighed with the heaviest propulsion battery intended for use in competition. E-models are subject to a weight check equipped as they right after each score flight. We will be using digital scales with 1% precision and display resolution of 1 gram. Calibration weights, certified by an NIST compliant laboratory, will be used to ensure accuracy. The maximum model weight allowable with this equipment is 5050 grams. The maximum allowable length / span is 2020 mm using our measuring devices. Upon successful completion of processing contestant unique stickers will be affixed to major aircraft parts as well as one FAI sticker certifying rule compliance. 9 Flight Line Procedure: Competitors will be called by a flight line official at least five minutes before they are required to occupy the starting area. Competitors will occupy the ready boxes near the starting area. The competitor must wear or display his identification number at all times when on the flight line. During flight operations the pilots/helpers will be under the direction of the Flight Line Director. The Flight Line Director will serve as the Time Keeper. For FM radios only: If the frequency is clear the competitor may collect his transmitter. Once the competitor is in the starting area he may perform a radio check. The Time Keeper will notify the competitor when timing is to start. Glow powered models will not be started until the signal is given by the Flight Line Director. Electric powered models will not have the battery physically connected until the signal is given by the Flight Line Director. Timing will be interrupted when the competitor is ready for sound check. Timing will resume as soon as the sound check is complete. If the engine stops in sound check, the engine may be restarted. It may be restarted in the sound check area. The clock will be restarted while the engine is restarted; then stopped when the model is ready to be sound checked. Timing will resume as soon as the sound check is complete. If the engine stops on the flight line within the 3 minute mark and before the model is airborne, it may be restarted. The clock will continue to run. The aircraft must show a deliberate forward movement before the timing device reaches the 3 minute mark. If the aircraft does not show a deliberate forward movement by the 3 minute mark the competitor will be advised that the flight may not continue. The flight will score zero points. Under normal circumstances the timing device will continue to run. When the 8 minute mark is reached the competitor, helper, and judges will be notified and judging/scoring will stop. If the 8 minute mark is reached after the last maneuver is complete but before the landing, there is no penalty to the competitor. The timing device will be stopped when the wheels of the model touch the ground for landing as proof to the competitor of the recorded time of the flight. Once the landing is complete and the model is retrieved, the pilot and model will be accompanied by a Processing Official to draw for random processing. If the pilot is to be processed he will be instructed by the official as to how to proceed. The competitor and the model will be accompanied by an official until the processing is complete. 9

11 Map of the AMA Flying Site: Sites 1 and 3 will be used for the Championship. The flying sites are far enough apart that there is no potential for aircraft on Site 3 to interfere in the airspace on Site 1. Since the flying sites face north, there are no problems with the sun for the entire day so flying can take place for well over 12 hours a day. There is also an additional practice facility (grass field) at Site 4. This site will only be available for practice after 22 July There will be other national competition before 23 July, and all competitors are welcome to attend as spectators. 11
