5 Lonely Planet Publications PACIFIC NORTHWEST TRIPS Just when we thought we knew the Pacific Nothwest, we discoved an entiely new wold. It was a change in appoach, based on one simple question: What eally makes this place unique? We took the answs (volcanoes, fjods, tempate ain foests, chefs who champion local and sustainable poducts, totem poles, hot spings, be, wine, cheese, apples, Lewis and Clak, kill whales) and ceated tips that would tuly highlight the chaact of the Pacific Nothwest. We d seen Oegon s watfalls, but we d nev hit falls in fou days. (Amazing.) A psychic helped us exploe Washington s ghosts and legends. (Now that was a tip.) We d soaked in the hot spings befoe, but stinging the best of them into a long weekend was uttly sublime. In the end we came up with 2 tips that exploe the most epic outes, the quikiest places, the best food and dink, the histoy, the most gogeous outdoo destinations, the most vibant cities and, of couse, the most iconic tips the Pacific Nothwest has to off.
