Job Training Activities The job training was held in 100 hours during last March. It was scheduled in 5 hours per day with 5 work days every week. In every single week, trainee had her own job description to do with different supervisors based on their expertise. In the last days of work days, there were always briefings about next week s job description. Onthe first week, the job done by the writer was translating 12 tour packages with Mr. Yusuf and Miss Hemy as the supervisors. Those were tour packages for Komodo; Lombok, Gili Kondo & Tangsi Beach; Lombok, Gili Nanggu & Tangsi Beach; Lombok and Gili Trawangan; Pacitan; Pacitan Gunung Kidul; Selayar Takabonerate; Solo; Tomia; Wanci (3 days 2 nights); Wanci (4 days 3 nights); and Wanci-Tomia. The things included in the tour package are prices, inclusions, exclusions, terms & conditions, and itinerary. Being able to speak in English is not enough in translating the tour package. The writer as the translator needed to gain much information related to tour and travel. This is because the tour packages used special terms as the diction which are different from general texts.during the translation process, the trainee did 3 times of revision. On the second week, the job description was about destination branding with Mr. Taufiq and Mr. Yusuf as the supervisors. To brand the destination, the writer made a tagline and explanation. The destinations the writer branded are those which are mentioned in tour packages translated last week. The difficulty in doing this job is choosing correct words as tagline that are appropriate with the 17

destination s identity and situation. Besides, the words should also be attractive, unique, original and easy to remember. Job description on the third week was outdoor practice. It was making a tour package to explore Solo city. Besides, the writer should also make budgeting to calculate a price for the package. At first, the writer browsed some references and looked for interesting places in Solo. Then the writer surveyed some places to find out the condition, location, attraction and cost. The writeralso calledmany hotels to ensure the fixedroom rates. Finally, the writer made the itinerary and the budgeting. Then, Mr. Taufiq and Mr.Yusuf as supervisors checked and revised trainee s work several times. On the last week, the job had been done in team with Miss Hemy and Mr. Reza as supervisors. The trainee and her job training partner held a talk show related to tourism. They were brainstorming about the topic and concept of the talk show. Then they consulted with supervisor to decide the speaker, time, place, and snack also equipments needed for the program. After all the things are planned well, the trainee published the event via social media and posters. The talk show, entitled Pariwisata Ramah Diffable, was finally held on April 11 th 2014 at Seminar room of FSSR UNS with Drs. Mardiyanto from YPAC and Miss Yus Mei Sawitri from Solopos as the speakers. 18

Description of a Talk Show about Friendly Tourism for People with Special Needs 1. Holding the Talk Show about Friendly Tourism for People with Special Needs Finishing job training in CV Explore Solo, holding a talk show was a final project the writer had to do. As friendly tourism for people with special needs is a topic the writer thought is important to discuss, the writer chose Pariwisata Ramah Diffable as the talk show s issue. It discussed about what the friendly tourism is, its application, and its law bases. The talk show was conducted by the writer and her job training partner, Indar Nur Hastuti. CV Explore Solo also supported the talk show holding process that was finally held on April 11 th 2014 at Seminar room of FSSR UNS with Drs. Mardiyanto from YPAC and Miss Yus Mei Sawitri from Solopos as the speakers. The talk show went on well. During the talk show holding process, the writer did some steps. Formerly, after receiving an instruction to hold a talk show about tourism from the supervisor, the writer and her partner had a brainstorming moment to decide the topic of the talk show. They had two options: travel with limited budget and tourism for diffable. They then collected materials related to those two topics and found tourism for diffable was a more interesting case to discuss. After deciding the topic, they drew a concept of the talk show and consult it to the supervisor. 19

The concept was approved so the writer and her partner started to do the next steps. They searched for an available date and place to hold the talk show. The date chosen was on Friday, April 11 th The place Mr Taufiq Al Makmun suggested, FSSR Seminar room, was also available on that day. The writer and her partner also took care of technical matters such as providing snacks for audiences. Afterward, they tried to find two speakers who are capable to explain the topic to audiences. The speakers were Mr Mardiyanto from YPAC and Miss Yus Mei Sawitri from Solopos. Mr Mardiyanto is a chairman at the YPAC. Besides, he is also a diffable and is experienced in traveling to many places even foreign country where the facilities for diffable are provided well. Miss Yus Mei worked as an editor in Solopos. Furthermore, she is also a traveler who knows the basics and updates of tourism. After the topic is decided, the date and place are booked, and the speakers are called, the writer and her partner started making a publication plan. They designed a pamphlet and distributed it to colleges and public spaces. Besides, they also broadcasted people they know to attend the talk show. On the D-day, the talk show ran well. The writer and her partner had their own job description. The writer took care of technical matter such as preparing the room, timing, and directing audiences whereas her partner contacted the speakers and took part as moderator of the talk show. CV Explore Solo s team also supported the event by providing documentation, welcoming audiences in front desk, and distributing snacks. 20

2. Content of the Talk Show about Friendly Tourism for People with Special Needs According to Mardiyanto (2014), diffable refers to person who haseither physical or psychological deviation which disturbs and becomes obstacle to do activities. It can be the mentally one, limited movement, even loss of body part. Each of criteria can also be classified into light, medium, and the serious one. This deviation of course becomes a problem like making his or her movement limited. Based on the definition of diffable, friendly tourism for people with special needs is indicated by the providingof proper facilities which are needed by the diffable hence the tourist attraction can be enjoyed by everyone. In order to realize the friendly tourism, there are some conditions. They are accessibility, attraction, accommodation, and amenity. In the other hand, it also needs law bases to develop and make the friendly tourism real. A. Tourism components Tourism component is the considerations which develop tourism into the proper one. Developing friendly tourism for people with special needs means adjusting the component based on their needs. According to the talk showheld by CV Explore Solo and the writer, the components are: a) Accessibility According to Mardiyanto (2014) accessibility principles include: a building or area can be reached by everyone; the building or area can be 21

entered by everyone; the facilities provided can be used by every visitors; and providing accessibility is an obligation. The first point refers to the easiness of reaching an object. It is about the transportation to and from the building. The public transportation people can take to go to the building is one of the examples. The transportation must be helpful for disabled. The other example is the public facilities like sidewalk. The proper sidewalk, with guiding block or without chuckholes, is necessary for people with special needs. Related to the second point, it is the possibilitywhether the building can be entered by everyone or not. Good entrance must be accessible for both normal and disabled people, handicapped for example. A good entrance can be the onewhich is wide enough with neither too much steps, nor any slippery floor. The simple example of facility is toilet. Of course it is different between the one for normal people and the one for handicapped. Friendly toilet must be facilitated well, for instance, by providing special closet for quadriplegics, having aslant entrance for handicapped, adding hand-grip or guiding block for blind people, and many other.in fact, there are still many buildings which do not provide proper toilet for people with special needs. There are some other examplesof facilities. Modern facilities like lift and escalator without steps are very useful as everyone can use it, instead of the usual stairs. Simple things like lightning (brightness) and security are also 22

always forgotten. However, the facilities should beappropriate with touristneeds and conditions, such as how many people thereare, and how long they will spend their time in the tourist object. In conclusion, accessibility is an obligation for any building or area or any tourist destinations. This is stated on some regulations. One of them ison UU number 28 (2002) about Building section 31. b) Attraction As there are many categories of people with special needs, there are also many special needs which must be fulfilled. A friendly difable tourist object must have amusing attractions to be enjoyed by everyone. For instance, a museum showing statues, historical documents, and relics may be very interesting for normal people as we can see them and get visual description about the past. In the other hand, such museum may not be that interesting for blind people. In this case, providing audio record or a kind like explanation in braille can be very helpful thus blind people can get the same information and similar experience with the normal ones. Mardiyanto (2014) explained that blind people do not need to see an actor acting a character to enjoy drama. Listening to the conversation and sound effects are all the things they need for entertainment, as they can imagine the scene themselves. c) Accommodation& Amenity Accommodation is also important in fulfilling tourist needs. One of the needs is a place to rest with canteen and toilet, a hotel for example. When 23

someone travels far away from his home, he or she will need a place to stay so friendly hotel must be equipped withproper facilities. One tourism component is always related to the others. In this case, when a tourist asks for something the hotel cannot provide, the amenity factor is needed. Hospitality of the employee can be very helpful. In this case, employee canoffer anoption to show a good intentionto help. B. Law base In creating friendly tourism for people with special needs, there must be a development which is done based on the law base. On the talk show, there were some rules mentioned by the speakers: a) UUD 1945 section 28 about fundamental right b) UU number 4, 1997 about disabled people, especially section 6 subsection 4 and section 10 c) UU number 28, 2002 about building section 31 d) UU number 39, 1999 about human right, section 41 subsection 2 e) Government regulation number 43, 1998 about the effort of increasing social prosperity for disabled people. The second part is about accessibility which is mentioned in section 8 22 f) Menkokesra decision number 07/KEP/MENKO/KESRA/III/2005, on March about implementation of the plan of disabled people national act

g) Minister decision PU number 468/PKPTS/1998, on December about accessibility technical term of public building and its environment h) Social minister decision number 06/HUK/2002 about organization and working system of social department i) Social minister decision number 59/HUK/2003 about organization and working system of social institution in social department circle j) Surat Edaran Menteri Pemberdayagunaan Aparatur Negara number SE/09/M.PAN/3/2004, on March about increasing public service quality for disabled people k) Handbill of Social Minister number A/A-50/VI-04/MS. June about increasing public service quality for disabled people l) UU RI number 19/2011 about authentication of CRPD m) Region regulation (Perda) number 2, 2008 about diffable equality Based on the rules mentioned above, friendly tourism for people with special needs has enough provision to be realized in any public facilities and tourism spot. In fact, the application of every single rule has not been executed well yet. Related to the third rule, we can see that not every public building, especially in Solo, is well facilitated for people with special needs. Even, many tourist attractions have no facility for diffable, for example handicapped. 25

Description of How the Talk Show Socializes Tourism for People with Special Needs to Audiences The talk show can really give impacts to attendances knowledge. It is because the talk show was presented by expert speakers. The first one was an experienced activist at formal difable foundation (YPAC), Mr Mardiyanto. He shared some knowledge about difable which is not only theoretical but also practical as it is based on real cases. Besides, he also shared his own experience hence the attendance could imagine and understand well. The other speaker was a traveler who is also a journalist at Solopos, Miss Yus Mei Sawitri. Traveling to many places tells her about how our Indonesia tourism is. How well the attraction, accessibility, accommodation and amenity treat all tourists, difable included. To inspire the audiences in developing the friendly tourism, she also gave references such as other country s facilities and friendliness for tourists. The talk show was attended by students from various universities. UNS, UNSA, and some tourism academies were being the participants of this talk show. Each of them got new knowledge from the speakers that can be shared and applied after the talk show. As more people become aware of the friendly tourism, there will be more people who do acts for this case. Based on the information shared, there are many homeworks to do in order to develop friendly tourism. The speaker, Miss Yus Mei invited all participants to do some efforts, starting from the little one, to struggle for the friendly tourism. Participants can start from their own selves, such as writing related articles, 26

creating supporting events, or any other ideas they can do based on their skills. Furthermore, there are enough law bases to support in making it real. Friendly tourism for people with special needs can be reached by participations of many parties. 27
