PAGE 2 Introduction Trolltunga, Kierag and Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) must be the most famous rocks in the world and all three of these rock stars lie nestled deep in the beautiful Norwegian Fjords. Trolltunga s (1100m) thin sliver of granite juts out into space 700m above Lake Ringedalsvatnet, a breathtaking reward after a mighty hike. On Preikestolen (600m), it won t just be about the stunning view, but about breakfast too, as you eat fresh pancakes cooked by our guide on the summit as the dawn rises. If you dare stand on Kjerag s (1110m) gravity-defying boulder, that will be a memory of a lifetime. We ve devised a week s holiday that not only summits all three iconic rocks, but recognises that Fjord Norway is another super-star attraction. Along with the great hiking, there s time to discover Old Stavanger s famous wooden houses and also chill out in the quaint and sleepy fjord-side town of Rosendal. The holiday ends in Bergen and an optional extra evening would give you the weekend to sightsee in this beautiful UNESCO worldheritage city. We have chosen accommodation of simple standard but beloved by Norwegians. Florli Historic Hostel can only be reached by boat along Lysefjord and we ve booked the wood-fired hot tub overlooking the fjord for a post-kjerag session. Preikestolen Mountain Lodge is sited on the shores of idyllic Lake Refsvatn you can choose to paddle, kayak or SUP on the lake on your free afternoon or take the challenge of Norway s longest zip wire. An iconic Norwegian bucket-list set in the magnificence of the Fjords. Explore International. This holiday is part of our Explore International range. Participants on these trips can book through KE or through one of our international partners. This helps us to gather together sufficient numbers of like-minded adventurers to get your holiday up and running quickly. Led by an English-speaking guide, the cosmopolitan nature of these groups can be an important part of the experience! Is this holiday for you? During the week, our walks vary from an easy ascent of Pulpit Rock to the challenging ascent of Trolltunga. For the most part, the underfoot conditions will be generally good, following well-trodden trails, but we should be prepared for a variety of more rugged terrain from steep and rocky to marshy and exposed ground. Excluding the Trolltunga day, the average distance is around 8.5km and average ascent and descent will be around 600m with the Florli steps being 900m of ascent. Trolltunga is a challenging day - 22km, hours and 1000m of ascent and descent - for which you will need to be in good condition and an experienced walker. There is no exposure during the hiking but the summits of the rocks are not roped off in any way and extreme care must be taken. Rosendal makes a good base for sightseeing, if this one day is not for you. Otherwise this is a moderate level hiking holiday at low elevation. However, if the weather is not co-operative, it will become tougher and you should be prepared for this. This holiday is generally for experienced weekend walkers, looking for an iconic experience, who are prepared for a variety of terrain, some of it steep, and potentially changeable weather. Holiday Itinerary Day 1: Meet at the group hotel in Stavanger. A single timed airport transfer is provided. Afternoon tour of Stavanger. There will be a single timed transfer from Stavanger Airport where your guide will meet you for the short journey to the hotel in Stavanger. Old Stavanger offers Europe's best preserved wooden house settlement, consisting of more than 170 white wooden houses. Stavanger is Norway's third largest city and has a lively atmosphere and a good selection of shops and restaurants. After a simple picnic lunch, the group will have a short tour of Old Stavanger followed by free time before getting together for our first group dinner in the evening.

PAGE 3 ACCOMMODATION HOTEL MEALS LD Day 2: The ascent of Kjerag & Lysefjord 'The Fjord of Light'. Boat down Lysefjord to Florli. An early start this morning as we drive (2.5 hours) to the beginning of our first challenge - the ascent of Kjerag. At 1084 metres, Kjerag towers above the other peaks along the Lysefjord, and its rocky plateau offers world-class views of the fjord and its stunning mountains. We start our walk from the visitors centre in Oygardsstolen, just southwest of the village of Lysebotn. Following a marked path we will hike in rugged but beautiful terrain on this demanding trail, walking steeply upwards for about 3 hours. Reaching the summit there are two main attractions. The first is the astonishing views from the northern side, a massive cliff plunging 984m almost straight down into Lysefjorden. The second is the Kjeragbolten, the iconic balancing boulder - a 5 cubic-metre glacial deposit wedged in the mountain's crevasse - suspended over that same 984m deep drop into the fjord. After our descent down the same path, we transfer 20 minutes to Lysebotn and enjoy an hour's ferry ride down Lysefjord, the 'Fjord of Light', looking back up the dramatic cliff of Kjerag. Upon reaching our charming fjord-side hostel in Florli, a roadless hamlet serviced by four ferries per day, we can enjoy the wood-fired hot tub before dinner. ACCOMMODATION GITE / HOSTEL DESCENT 570M ASCENT 570M TIME 6 HRS WALKING HOURS DISTANCE 11KM MEALS BLD Day 3: Hike the 4444 Florli Steps to Heaven, the longest wooden staircase in the world. Ferry to Forsand. Norwegians joke that the 4444 Florli steps lead you to heaven. While this may not be true, they certainly make for a breath-taking experience in every meaning of the word. Today we will climb this wooden staircase, one of the longest in the world. It is 1470m long with a height gain of 740m above the fjord. We'll end up well above the tree line where there are amazing views of the Lysefjord and toward the Preikestolen massive (where we will stay tonight). We do not descend the stairs, but follow the old construction road to a mountain lake where we join an old farm road for a more gentle descent back down to the fjord. For those who do not want to climb the whole 4444 steps, there is an option to stop at 700 steps and visit the charming Florli tourist station before descending via a quiet narrow road. We will get the evening ferry down Lysefjord to Fredvang and transfer to Preikestolen Mountain Lodge. ACCOMMODATION MOUNTAIN HUT / REFUGE ASCENT 830M DISTANCE 10KM MEALS BLD DESCENT 830M TIME 7 HRS WALKING HOURS Day 4: A morning walk to the summit of Moslifejelet followed by an afternoon of free time. Today we can walk straight out of our mountain lodge to walk up Moslifjellet which, at 718m, is just slightly higher than Preikestolen. The marked trails through the woods will be very quiet after we leave the Preikestolen path at the first plateau and follow a moraine ridge after the Lysefjord glacier. The top of the mountain is above the treeline so yet again we can enjoy spectacular views, this time across the archipelago and towards Stavanger. Back at the lodge we have a free afternoon, to relax and choose some optional activities. There is a sandy beach for swimming in the Refsvatn Lake by the lodge, or you can choose to rent kayaks, canoes or SUPs for paddling on the lake. Nearby is Norway's longest zip wire, if you need any additional thrills adding to the week.

PAGE 4 ACCOMMODATION MOUNTAIN HUT / REFUGE ASCENT 450M DISTANCE 6KM MEALS BLD DESCENT 450M TIME 3-4 HRS WALKING HOURS Day 5: Pancakes at dawn on the summit of Pulpit Rock. Transfer to Rosendal. Today's hike starts in the dark before sunrise. With our headlamps on, we'll walk up deserted paths to Preikestolen, Pulpit Rock. It will take 2.5 hours to reach the iconic outcrop where we will catch the first rays of dawn breaking over Lysefjord. In addition, your guide will make you pancakes for breakfast as you watch the sun rise. After that, long before the other tourists arrive, you'll be heading back down the same trail. We then go back for the drive to 4.5 hour drive Rosendal. On the way, we will stop for a break and a scenic picnic lunch. Rosendal has a very picturesque setting on the shores of Hardangerfjord and there will be time to stroll through the small town down to water's edge. We'll have an early dinner at our hotel, as tomorrow we will tackle the holiday's most challenging summit. ACCOMMODATION HOTEL DESCENT 350M ASCENT 350M TIME 3-4 HRS WALKING HOURS DISTANCE 6KM MEALS BLD Day 6: The ascent of Troll's Tongue of Fjord Norway. Trolltunga is without doubt, the biggest rock star of them all. Situated 1,100m above sea-level and jutting out 700m above Lake Ringedal, this is the summit that challenges even the experienced. Today we will start very early again to avoid any crowds and we will eat a packed breakfast during the transfer (1 hr 30 minutes) to the start of our walk. The beginning of the walk is possibly the most bracing, with a very steep start on stone steps, some potentially slippy rock and a large rope in place to help steady you. However, the path begins to level out for about an hour, after which there is another major climb on a stoned trail to a small picturesque mountain lake. Now the views will begin to reward you for the effort, although there is another major steep climb ahead. This is the last big effort, and at last you will get your first view down to the beautiful down Lake Ringedal with the knowledge that the majority of the ascent is now over. A long undulating walk on the moonscape of the rocky plateau brings you eventually to Trolltunga, the most dramatic, iconic rock in Norway and surely the definition of a bucket-list achievement. After enjoying a very long moment to savour our victory, we will begin our 5-6 hour descent, returning the same way. A final transfer brings us to our comfortable hotel in Rosendal, which will be very much appreciated tonight, and it may even be worth braving the prices at the bar to celebrate! It is also possible to remain in Rosendal today and enjoy some excellent sightseeing on foot. The Baroniet Rosendal is a manor house dating back from 1665 which is now a museum. A guided tour will give you a fascinating insight into Norwegian history and the Rosendal gardens built over 300 years, include a Renaissance rose garden. Nearby is an impressive medieval church built in the mid-1200s, the Kvinnherad. There are also plenty of other options to choose from including a full day by ferry on the Hardangerfjord or a tour of the Folgefonna glacier and a visit the new Folgefonn Centre in the National Park. You may of course also want to bring some of your own favourite hill snacks with you, especially for the Trolltunga day. Those looking to sample traditional Norwegian foods should also look out for cloudberry jam, lingonberry sauce for meats, and brunost, the Norwegian s national cheese made from brown whey with a sweet caramelised flavour. Vegetarians can be accommodated and most special dietary requirements if we are informed in advance. Many places on this holiday have drinkable water from the tap to fill your personal water bottles. Please check with the leader at the various locations. Please take purification tablets or a filter bottle (such as a Water-To-Go bottle) for days when drinking water out of the tap is not available. We do not encourage the purchasing of single use plastic bottles. Special Diets Whilst we can cater for vegetarians, albeit sometimes with a more limited choice, we cannot provide special diets. Due to the nature of the trips that we operate and the countries in which we operate them, it can be very hard (and sometimes impossible) to cater for a wide range of dietary choices and you may have to supplement your diet with food/snacks from home. If you have specific dietary requirements please do speak to our sales team and they will be able to advise you whether or not we will be able to offer your specific choice. Please note that we are unable to provide separate menus and cannot accept liability for any problems arising from special dietary requirements or intolerances. Accommodation During this holiday we will spend 1 night in a comfortable hotel in or just outside Stavanger. Here we will stay in twin rooms with ensuite facilities. In Florli, we will stay in a good standard hostel by the side of the fjord and we have a session booked in the wood-fired hot tub. Here accommodation will be twin sharing, with shared bathrooms. The Mountain Lodge at Preikestolen will be twin sharing with ensuite facilities. In Rosendal we will stay in a hotel with twin sharing facilities. If you are travelling by yourself, you will be paired up with another single client of the same sex. Single rooms are available for a supplementary cost. Group Leader & Support Staff The group will be led by a professional and qualified tour leader. Spending Money All meals are included in the holiday price, so (or equivalent in US dollars, Euros etc) should be sufficient to cover your miscellaneous expenses, including airport bus and snack items, chocolate bars etc. This will also allow you to pay reasonable tips to the local guide. However if you like to end the day with a glass of wine or a pint of lager, be aware that alcoholic beverages are very expensive about 10 for a pint of lager and 40 for a half botle of Jacob's Creek. Souvenirs and optional activities are additional so you may wish to budget for these. You can withdraw money in local currency from ATM s on arrival at the airport in arrivals or in the town itself. Credit and debit cards are useful and it is a good idea to carry one in case of emergency.

PAGE 8 General Information Passport & Visas A passport with 6 months remaining validity at the end of your stay is generally required for visits to countries outside the EU. The information that we provide is for UK passport holders. Please check the relevant embassy or consulate for other nationalities. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct travel documents and visas for your holiday. Visa requirements and charges are subject to change without notice. If you are travelling outside the EU you should have at least 2 blank pages in your passport for each country that you visit. Visa Europe UK and USA passport holders do not require a visa. The European Commission announced in November 2018 that, even in a no-deal scenario, UK travellers can still visit the EU without a visa, providing the same is offered to European citizens visiting the UK. From 2021, UK citizens will need to pay a fee (of around 7 Euros) as part of a new electronic travel authorisation system applying to all third country visitors to the EU. After 12 April 2019, if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, UK passport holders should ensure your passport has at least 6 months validity beyond your date of arrival. This applies to adult and child passports. If you renewed your UK passport before it expired, extra months may have been added to your new passport s expiry date. Any extra months beyond 10 years from the date of issue may not count towards the 6 months that should be remaining. You can check whether or not your current passport will be valid for your chosen holiday using this official government link: Health & Vaccinations Severe Allergies If you have a severe allergy please inform the KE office before you travel. We will do all we can to help, but we cannot guarantee an allergy free environment on KE trips. You will need to carry your own treatment for the allergy with you, as 'adrenaline auto-injectors' are not carried as standard by KE leaders and staff. You should inform your leader on arrival of your allergy, and let them know where you keep your adrenaline pen. Vaccinations You should contact your doctor or travel clinic to check whether you require any specific vaccinations. EHIC / Medical Cover UK residents should obtain a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This entitles you to state provided medical treatment, but is not a substitute for medical travel insurance which is still vital when travelling overseas. Currency The unit of currency in Norway is the Norwegian Krone. Electricity Supply & Plug We recommend you check if you require an adaptor for your electrical items at:

PAGE 9 Climate Due to the Gulf Stream the Fjords have a temperate climate. Summer is when the weather is at its most stable and warmest with sunny, long and bright days with temperatures regularly reaching 25 C. However, weather and temperatures can change very quickly. In the mountains, if there is a shift to strong winds and rain, you may see temperatures drop close to freezing point even in the summer. Be prepared for temperature extremes when packing. Travel Aware As a reputable tour operator, KE supports the British Foreign & Commonwealth Offices' Travel Aware campaign to enable British citizens to prepare for their journeys overseas. The 'Travel Aware' website provides a single, authoritative source of advice for all kinds of travellers and we recommend that prior to travel, all KE clients visit the official UK Government website at travelaware.campaign.gov.uk and read the FCO Travel Advice for their chosen destination. North Americans can also check out the U.S. Department of State website: for essential travel advice and tips. KE treat the safety and security of all clients as the most important aspect of any trip we organise. We would not run any trip that we did not consider reasonably safe. Should the FCO advise against travel for any reason, we will contact everyone booked to travel to discuss the situation. We receive regular updates direct from the FCO and are in constant touch with our contacts on the ground. If you have any questions about government travel advice, please call our office. Single Use Plastic KE do not encourage the use of single use plastic items. We are ensuring that our agents all over the world are working together to reduce the problem and educate those around them. We are leading by example in our KE office by reducing our plastic use. We have pledged to AITO s Project Protect that 70% of our agents stop using single use plastic bottles. Books...and Films Some recent Norwegian literature might help you get into the mindset of the Norwegians such as Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson and The Half-Brother by Lars Saabye Christensen. Neil Gaiman, of American Gods fame, has just presented his own glittering version of Norse Mythology, while a classic novel The Vikings by Else Roesdahl offers a Scandinavian perspective. For films watch Trollhunter (2010), Cool & Crazy (2001), Insomnia (the orginal Norwegian version 1997) and, if you have Netflix, try the series Lilyhammer and if you are feeling very brave, The Wave (2015) is Norway s first blockbuster disaster movie, set in the fjords! Maps The Fjords are covered, not comprehensively, in Norway in a series of GPS compatible recreational Turkart maps at 1:100,000 with cartography from Norway s topographic survey and additional tourist information. Contours lines are drawn at 20m intervals. You will need several to cover the area at a cost of 23 each. These can be sourced at or

PAGE 10 Flight Information Flight Inclusive Or Land Only? On our website we display a UK Flight inclusive package price and Land only package price for the majority of our holidays. Flight Inclusive Notes The FLIGHT INCLUSIVE dates and prices are based on UK flights from London Gatwick to Stavanger and a return from Bergen with Norwegian Airlines. Outbound flights will usually depart the UK very early in the morning. Return flights will depart Bergen very early in the morning of the last day of the itinerary. Regional departures are also available on request but will involve an additional stop in Oslo with an additional flight supplement and will involve an additional transfer costs upon arrival day. To avoid paying more for your flight, we recommend that you book as early as possible, especially during peak times as there are only a limited number of seats available at the advertised price. If we are unable to secure seats at the price shown, or you have requested regional departures, we will contact you with an alternative quote. We are also able to quote for premium, business and first class seats. Please be aware that you may be asked to pay for your flights in advance of your final holiday balance. Remember if you book a package including flights with KE you will benefit from full financial protection. Land Only Notes The LAND ONLY dates and prices are for the itinerary joining in Stavanger, Norway and departing from Bergen. For clients making their own flight arrangements, Stavanger International Airport is the most convenient for transfers to the group hotel. Please refer to the 'Joining arrangements & transfers' for further details. Flights SHOULD NOT be booked until you have received your booking confirmation and the departure is showing 'Guaranteed to Run' or 'Limited'. Why Choose KE Adventure Travel? Why Choose KE Adventure Travel? KE can guarantee the very best in trip support, excellent food, a good standard of hotel and other accommodation, plus the back up of one of the most respected companies in the business. Client satisfaction is at the top of our agenda and almost 50% of our bookings each year come from repeat business. If you are looking for adventure then look no further than KE. Booking Your Holiday The easiest way to make your booking is online. You will need to pay a deposit at the time of booking. This is normally 200 but for some holidays with special permit fees or internal flights, this may be more. The amount of deposit required for an individual holiday is given on the dates and prices page of the holiday. Late bookings will require full payment. We cannot confirm any booking until we receive your fully completed booking form.

PAGE 11 Sustainable Tourism Since we ran our first trip in 1984, we have been committed keeping the world's most beautiful places pristine by minimising our environmental impact. Recognising the fragility of the world's wilderness environments, we keep our groups small and operate according to a Mountain Code, which is provided to all groups, trek leaders, agents and staff. We make sure that our local staff are well treated and well paid, we respect indigenous cultures, take care to protect the environment of the places we visit and take every opportunity to make a positive contribution wherever we travel. Our philosophy of 'leaving nothing but footprints' has been integral to KE's approach right from the start over 30 years ago. In recognition of our efforts we are proud to have achieved the highest award of 5 Stars for Sustainable Tourism by AITO. We continue to travel responsibly, and more information on our policy, practice, and specific projects can be found at and on the website of our partner charity the Juniper Trust: KE's Mountain Code is issued to our staff, trek leaders and overseas agents, and we recommend it to our clients, too! Group Tour Leaders All of our holidays are accompanied by an experienced leader, some of whom have worked with KE groups for many years. Many are professional guides and instructors with an unrivalled knowledge of the areas in which they work. In many parts of the world, we recruit local guides with appropriate training and experience. In addition to having the technical skills to ensure your safety, KE expects its leaders to be active members of the group. A leader should be fun to travel with and ready to share with you their enthusiasm for adventure travel and their knowledge of the area. Alongside the group leader, there will be a local support crew, which could be just a driver, or a complete team of guides, drivers, porters, mule-herders and cooks. The hard work of our support crews, along with the fascinating insight they can offer into their local culture, is integral to providing you with the very best adventure travel experience. Adventure Travel Insurance It is a condition of joining any of our trips that you are insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). We also strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as all deposits paid are non-refundable. Please ensure that your insurer is aware of your KE Adventure itinerary and can agree to cover the activities being undertaken. You will then need to advise us of your policy details and complete an Insurance Declaration Form. CAMPBELL IRVINE DIRECT travel insurance is available to EU residents and will cover the majority of KE Adventure holidays. It has been designed to provide cover for activities normally excluded by other insurers such as trekking, mountain biking and climbing. Please note that certain activities may attract a higher premium. In addition Campbell Irvine Direct cannot provide cover for KE climbing trips above 6000m. Cover for these can be obtained through either the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) or Snowcard. TRAVELEX is a USA based insurer offering travel insurance, which can be used by US citizens and US residents only. KE recommends the "Travelex Select" package for our holidays. If your holiday involves using mountaineering equipment (ropes, harness or crampons), for climbing or glacial travel, you should consider the "Adventure Plus Pak" optional upgrade on the Travelex Select Plan. Please refer to the 'Description of Coverage' for a summary of the terms, conditions, exclusions and limitations of the applicable Protection Plan. This policy will also cover KE climbing trips above 6000m.
