2 A Very Warm Welcome to Your Yurt! Whether you choose to do as much or as little as you please, we hope you have a fantastic time and that, with the help of this guide, you make the most of your stay in Yurtshire. You should find most things you need for your stay in the yurt. However, if you do need more of anything, please do ask. Newburgh Priory is set within the picturesque landscape of the Howardian Hills near Coxwold, North Yorkshire. Standing on the site of an Augustinian priory, which was founded in 1145, it is a fine stately home in a superb setting with breathtaking views to the Kilburn White Horse in the distance. The extensive grounds contain a water garden, walled garden, topiary yews and woodland walks together with a large lake. What makes Newburgh so special is that it has always been, and continues to be, a family home and the successive changes and alterations made by each generation have imbued it with a unique character and charm. 3 Important Information KEY COLLECTION The local pub at Coxwold are our key holders for your yurt, and you will need to collect the key(s) first upon your arrival. The pub details are: The Fauconberg Inn Coxwold York YO61 4AD Telephone: (See map on last page) You will be given one or two keys (please advise them how many you will need for your stay) and a map showing you the location of the yurts at Newburgh Priory (YO61 4AS), which is just under a mile away from the pub. The pub also has some basic food supplies, such as milk and eggs, but please do ask if there is anything else you need, as they may be able to supply it from their stores. CHECK OUT Please ensure you check out of your accommodation by 10.30am. Late departures could be charged for. LOG BURNERS Please take care at all times when using both log burning fires and gas heaters. All yurts are fitted with carbon monoxide alarms and smoke alarms. If the alarms sound, please vacate the yurt immediately and contact the emergency number DO NOT try burning anything other than logs and firelighters on the log burners. LOGS and FIRELIGHTERS You are provided with a complimentary basket of logs and firelighters to get your yurt initially toasty warm. Further supplies can be purchased from the pub. DO NOT USE BBQs INSIDE THE ACCOMMODATION.

4 CLEANLINESS Please try to keep all accommodation as clean and tidy as when you first arrived. Please wash all pots before departure and dispose of all rubbish into the bins provided. LOSS AND DAMAGES Please treat all equipment respectfully. Loss and damage due to mistreatment of any equipment will be charged for. BBQs and FIRES DO NOT use a BBQ/open fire basket inside the accommodation or any other structures. These should be used outdoors only. There are many trees surrounding the area and accommodation so please ensure both BBQs and fires baskets are not lit within any wooded areas. During dryer days, the woods very are vulnerable to naked flames. RUBBISH Please use the bins provided inside and outside of your accommodation. We advise you not to leave loose rubbish bags outside of accommodation which may attract local wildlife and rodents. RESPECT AND ENJOYMENT Please enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Newburgh Priory Estate and respect the landscape, trees and animals by not littering, causing damage or causing any distress to any animals on the site. The Estate is still a home, so please ensure you respect what is technically the family garden and playground. NOISE AND NUISANCE Music can be played providing it is not too loud and does not disturb fellow guests. Please ensure it is turned very low after 10pm. We will not tolerate unreasonable behaviour. All guests are here to relax and enjoy their break away. Any behaviour known to cause nuisance will be dealt with accordingly and may result in you leaving the estate and deposit bonds withheld.

5 SITE BOUNDARY The formal lawns are out of bounds (apart from Wednesday & Sunday afternoons in April, May and June) as the estate frequently has other events and weddings as well as it being a garden for the family s children. DOGS Dogs must be kept under control at all times and kept on leads around the site. There is livestock in neighbouring fields and lots of other wildlife. Your Yurt It would be much appreciated if you could keep your shoes off when in the yurt to help keep out the mud and dirt. In addition to the main yurt furnishings you should find the following items in your yurt: Fire extinguisher, fire blanket, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, matches/lighter, firelighters, tea lights, bin bags, washing up liquid, surface cleaner, cloths, wash bowl, washing up bowl, crockery, cutlery, water jug, tea towel, bath towels, sheets, lanterns, logs. If any of these items are missing, please do let us know. How Things Work Logs A basket of logs is provided in the yurt on arrival and additional logs are available at the pub. You will receive a complimentary basket of logs on arrival. Logs used over and beyond this are charged at 5.00 per basket from the pub. They also stock kindling and extra firelighters for you to purchase. Fire For the wood stove in the yurt, the logs need to be cut to size using the axe provided. Place the logs on the large chopping log to make some small kindling. With the matches/lighter and firelighters provided, light the firelighter in the main stove opening and feed in the kindling keeping it as tightly packed as possible. The fire may smoke slightly but as the fire gets hotter, the smoke will decrease. DO NOT leave the fire unattended. Shower Open the gas on the gas bottle and then turn on the tap. It is important to get the water pressure at the right level, which is just less than full power. Too much pressure can cause the ignition light to go out and not enough pressure will not keep it going. There is a switch under the shower and also on the shower head. Ensure these are both on.

6 After showering please turn off the tap and close the gas bottle. Hot tub Get the water level to the desired height then get a fire going in the burner (no more than half full). Slide the burner lid open towards the flue by 23cm. When warm (about 35 degrees), close the lid and stop adding logs. With the wooden cover on the tub it will take approx. 34 hours for the water to get up to temperature (around 3840 degrees). Additional guests Sheets will be provided in the yurt. The futons will need to be pulled out and the beds made up. 9 Hot Tub Safety Rules To ensure the safe and enjoyable use of the hot tub, please read and adhere to the following safety rules and user instructions. IF YOU USE THE HOT TUBS, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. YURTSHIRE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY OR ILLNESS AS A RESULT OF USING THE HOT TUB. 1. People with heart disease, high or low blood pressure, any serious illness or who are pregnant, should not use the hot tub without consulting their doctor first. 2. People with skin, ear, genital or other body infections should not use the hot tub to avoid spreading infection. 3. It is advised that children under the age of four should not use the hot tubs. Never allow children to use the hot tub unsupervised. 4. Please be aware that the heat of the water can speed up the effects of alcohol. 5. Do not immerse your head in the water as it increases the risk of infection (and you could drown). 6. Do not use electrical appliances near the water to avoid electric shocks. 7. Do not use any contaminants such as bubble bath, oils etc. in the water as they will affect the life of the timber. 8. The burner is protected by a guard and you should not make any attempt to touch the burner whilst lit. 9. Never allow the water temperature to go over 40 degrees Celsius (lower for children). 10. Due to health and safety, it is advised that you do not bring alcohol into the hot tubs. 11. We have zero drug policy. Any users found in possession of drugs or attempting to consume drugs will be asked to leave the premises immediately. No refunds will be given.

10 User Instructions 1. Read and adhere to the above Safety Rules 2. Change into bathing costume, strictly no underwear or daywear allowed in the hot tubs 3. Shower with soap and water before using the hot tub to remove lotions, deodorants, creams etc. 4. Take care when entering and leaving the hot tub, the surfaces will be slippery especially when wet. Place 2 hands on the top rim when using the steps / climbing in for stability. 6. Depending on the water temperature, it is advised that you should not stay in the hot tub for longer than 15 minutes per 1 hour Enjoy the crackle of the wood fire and soothing sensation of deep hot water
